    Romance in Biriyani Pot

It was literally Swetha’s plan to visit the famous Ramoji Rao Film city. More than crossing off a bucket list item, it was her childhood dream come true. She was a sweet princess like any other girl sees herself as, but she never dreamt of charming princess coming to her on a winged unicorn. She always believed in the warm hug and care of her dad which made her mom’s days. Her home was a paradise built with bricks of love, care and trust.

She felt like not having enough time with her while roaming around the film city. Although she and her cousins stayed there for a week, she wanted a couple of days more.  And with a heavy heart, she waved goodbye to the magical city of fictions which made many dramatic plots appear true. The car moved through the city traffic in moderate speed level and all of a sudden they realized a common matter. They are starving. Anand, the eldest of the pack and the leader of the trip, suddenly took a sharp U-turn by the divider heading to a popular restaurant where the famous ‘Hyderabad Dum Biriyani’ is served piping hot.

As the car entered the parking lot, the four were glancing to each other with the inner voice screaming “Oh my God I’m gonna die eating biriyani”. They went in and found a table for 4. As they sat down Swetha secured her window seat. Not even patient to be served, Shiva, the foodie went to the counter & ordered all they wanted in full portion.s Rakhi, the Drama Queen, asked Swetha to accompany her to the restroom to reapply her makeup worn out by the hot climate and polluted traffic. Rakhi rushed even before Swetha noticed her request as she saw the tables near her’s were brimming with handsome lads who seem to be having lunch amidst their bike tour. Tough, handsome men and drama queen Rakhi – so flirty it’s gonna be. But Swetha sat all lost by the sight of unfortunate kids seated aside their blind & handicapped father who sang random film songs and begged alms to earn their living.

Swetha suddenly went to the counter and ordered to parcel three Biriyanis and rushed to the kids. She gave them the food and give 500 Rupees to the man. He was crying when he realized what act of empathy he received. He gave one coin from his alms to Swetha saying “Keep this coin. It has my family’s prayers for you. You will be rewarded for your kindness. God will find you a match made in heaven and the day you get blessed in love; offer this coin to any church or temple as your belief. God bless you my girl.” and he blessed her.

As this plot is running, another person was keenly observing all these besides her table who was a rider in the former told bike tour pack.  Raghav; a chartered accountant by career and a traveler by heart; was so pleased by Swetha’s act of empathy & wanted to meet her. We may say like she stole his heart. But to his astonishment, all Raghav saw was Swetha coming back and digging into her pot of biriyani without any hesitation. He almost burst into laughing but felt good. Many girls preferred to be picky eaters just to show off in front of others. But being oneself without bothering others in a pure sense of mindfulness. Raghav was more impressed and wanted not to disturb Swetha.

The drama queen – as usual began to eat her portion with a fork; throwing a flirty glance at every good looking guy in the scenario. They finished their course and walked out full. Raghav wanted to say a word but the fate made Anand drive fast.

Time passed things changed. As the monsoon poured in Swetha was helpless by standing in front of a coffee shop dripping wet only because she forgot to take her umbrella. She had to decide to wait there till the rain fades. Just like in a fairy tale, Raghav walked out of the coffee shop with his friends Swetha happened to stamp on Raghav’s shoes while moving back to avoid drizzles and Raghav was in pain. Swetha turned over to Raghav and began to apologize. It was a weird moment for Raghav. He was in pain of feet and joy of heart. Raghav stood speechless for a moment and couldn’t take his eyes off Swetha. In a minute he gained his consciousness and accepted her apologies and pacified her. Raghav was looking at her but he knew that she never knew him. Breaking the silence Raghav offered a lift to Swetha to wherever she wanted to go. Being wise to refuse the help of a totally unknown stranger, Swetha answered: “No, thanks !” Raghav walked into his car but couldn’t leave her behind in rain. He found an umbrella in his dashboard. He got an idea. He took a visiting card out of his wallet and the umbrella and walked to Swetha. He said her to take the umbrella so she could walk to the home and return the umbrella to the address in the visiting card Swetha was a bit confused but as it was getting dark she took the umbrella and thanked him – Raghav stood there watching her till she disapproved into the streets.

Swetha reached home safely and changed her dripping clothes and warmed herself with a mug of coffee. She suddenly remembered the visiting card given to her by the stranger. She took it out of her purse and checked it out. It read ‘Raghav Vasudevan, Charted Accountant  she checked the address and surprisingly found it near to the street where she staying she decided to return the umbrella with a note of gratitude

The next morning was so important to Raghav as he was so excited hoping Swetha might drop in to return his umbrella. He felt like the world around is turning and he is floating. Swetha was up the next day by 6 and was ready by 8 in the morning, She took the umbrella and a note saying “Grateful to receive your kindness”. She looked herself in the mirror and felt good about herself. She left home and walked down the street. After a few buildings, she managed to find Raghav’s Office. She walked through the gate and found the car in the parking lot. So the address is confirmed. She went to the reception and asked the staff to hand over the umbrella and the note. The staff but surprisingly denied and lead her to the lounge and asked her to wait. Well, its Raghav who told her, so he could meet Swetha again. In seconds Raghav was right in front of her and Swetha smiled at him. She handed over the umbrella and the note saying how thankful she is for receiving kindness. Raghav said she may keep the umbrella and refused to take it back. Swetha insisted that she can’t have a thing that does not belong to her. While fighting for handling over the umbrella, both came to the decision that they’ll have lunch and Raghav will take the umbrella. Soon they burst into laughter.

Raghav walked down the street with Swetha to a restaurant. They found a cozy table seating two and sat down. It was Raghav’s chance to order hence he walked to the counter excusing himself. Meanwhile, Raghav ordered Biriyani with a ring box hidden in Swetha’s biriyani pot soon he joined Swetha leaving no traces of hints.

The order was served and Swetha was happy to see her favorite biriyani. As she served herself she noticed the ring box. She asked Raghav what is going on. Raghav told her the whole story that he first saw Swetha at Hyderabad with helping the needy and her passion for biriyani. He also said he fell in love with her at the first sight of empathy.

Swetha was silent and she asked for a moment with her. She walked out of the restaurant and looked on both sides. Raghav was confused but remained silent. She found a chapel by the corner and asked him to accompany her. she stood in front of the chapel and opened her purse and dropped the coin the man gave her that day. She then explained what the man said that day and about the coin. She also said Raghav that she wanted to go back and have the biriyani& She will not return the ring and umbrella as they are hers now. Raghav was on cloud nine. As he put the ring, the rain poured. They walked in one umbrella to the restaurant with the ring  sparkling at Swetha’s finger.

  • Eid Mubarak- Part 2

    Eid Mubarak- Part 2

Did Nauseen and Malliquh be that involved in pampering their child that they completely forget the whole purpose of keeping a Roza?

Nazma woke up holding the mat in her hand and said, “Alas! Nauseen madam, we both have also kept Roza. We both are hungry and are very tired. Let us sleep for some time. Nauseen again became angry and said, “You both had enough of your sleep. Now get up and make preparations for the next dishes. Go and rush to your work. Both Nazma and Huma woke up and started doing their work.

It was evening when everyone wanted to open their Roza because it was a ceremony. They had arranged everything in their garden. So, all guests including Malliquh family members went outside to open their Roza. Chef’s had prepared a variety of cuisines and dishes. Each and every guest rushed to the cuisine stalls because they were super hungry and were craving for the delicious and tasty food.

While all in-between this Nazma and Huma opened their Roza by eating plain bread along with some water and dates. They weren’t offered the cuisines and dishes that everyone was eating.

Nauseen’s mother-in-law was watching all this and went to Nazma and Huma and offered them two trays that were filled with a variety of dishes and sweet dishes. She told them to have it and said them eat as much as you ca. Fill your stomachs with the food and even if some food is left out you can pack the food and take it to your home. Eat as much as you cab until your heart is filled with joy.

These people don’t k now the real meaning of Roza. All they want to do is to maintain their standard symbol. Islam introduced the concept of Roza all because the Allah wanted that the rich and elite class people help the needy and poor people. Eid is celebrated only when you provide food to the people who really need them so that they can have a proper food even for a single day. What is the purpose of celebrating Eid if you give food and gifts to the people who already had them? The purpose of Eid is that people realize that every person should sleep happily with their stomach filled at God’s evening. But can you see here that the rich people are providing food to people who are already self-sufficient capable enough to have a complete diet every day?

The basic meaning behind Roza is to remain without food and water the whole day, learn new things every day. Roza makes you learn about the patience a person should have, not to be in a hurry always. People should provide food and clothing to the poor people. Shower love on them. Provide them the basic amenities. This will be so grateful when the elite people bestow their love on the needy ones. People should take care of the poor and orphan children, gift them toys and food. Then only you will see the joy of sharing. They should not make the poor people and children work like animals.

I am not saying that people should not keep Roza. They should. They should spend this day like normal days by eating simple food, cherishing every moment and not playing silly games on iPad, staying in air-conditioned rooms always.

Roza should be there for you people, who spend all their day in working and whatever they get to eat they eat that and consider their life to be happiest.

Malliquh and Nauseen were standing were listening to all this. They were shocked while listening to the conversation between Nazma and Nauseen’s mother-in-law. They soon realized the power of love and care in the festivals.

They both had come there to call their mother for the party but remained still after listening to their conversation. After this, they felt very ashamed of themselves and thought how little their heart is. After taking a very long pause Malliquh made a decision that he will arrange another party in the coming weekend for the poor and needy people so that they can have the good food and joy of living with others at least for a single time. Also, he will keep in mind that they both Malliquh and Nauseen will keep Roza in the limits and will not over-pamper their son, Paras.

“My mother always speak honest and truthful words,” said Malliquh. Roza doesn’t mean to quit water and food for one day. The basic concept behind keeping Roza is to control our senses, our taste buds, our soul, our heart and our mind. It is a test of our control on our bodily processes and senses. We should not speak bitter words and never be harsh on anyone especially the needy people. We should not see mishappenings that are occurring with people. Instead, we should encourage them to fight with that or help them to do so by providing financial and emotional support. We should share our happiness with the poor and needy people and also share theirs sad and harsh moments with us. We should understand their pain and sufferings that they are bearing.

This is what exactly a Roza means. We should always do our work honestly and maintain peace among yourself. We should not be deceitful to the people. We all should celebrate Roza in this way only.

  • The Complete Family

    The Complete Family

Suman returns home at night after a busy day at the office. As he laid back on the sofa and closed his eyes, he was lost in thoughts.

Why did she do this to me? I loved her very much. My love was sincere. How could she be so heartless towards me? Was her love false from the beginning? How blind was I in her love? Its been 10 years. But I am not able to come out of it. How can she ruin my life?

A thousand such disturbing questions began to lurk in his mind suddenly. His eyes were wet with grief.

Suman had a love marriage 10 years ago against his parent’s wishes and was staying separately with his wife. But within a week of their marriage things changed drastically. The girl was no longer loving towards him. She became aggressive for petty reasons and sometimes for no reason at all. Over a month; petty quarrels led to tantrums and nagging for an extravagant lifestyle beyond wild imaginations. Things took an ugly turn when she started physically abusing him. Sridhar showed immense patience for few more months but could not ever figure out the reason for her rude behavior. After a year they got separated legally and presently Sridhar stays with his parents working in a Software firm in Mysore.

A gentle touch by his mother brought Suman back to this world. While having dinner that night, his mother said,”Your aunt called me this afternoon. She was mentioning about a suitable alliance for you.Suman, how long will you cry over your past? I want you to remarry and its high time you settle down. You are already 40.”

“Ma! I am not against marriage. But what if I get a similar girl another time? I only fear this. I have no mental strength to face all this anymore.”. said, Suman

“Not all women are same. I will not force you but I suggest we go and see the girl this Sunday. She is Gita and had a mutual divorce with her husband a few years ago and ..and.”

    “And..what Ma?”

“She has an 8-year-old son, told her mother hesitatingly.

“What! Frankly, I am not so broad-minded to marry a mother of 8 years old. Neither can I accept the child. No way. no point in meeting them.”

“Before drawing any conclusions, let’s meet them this Sunday. Consider this as an obligation and a request from my side.”,convincingly told his mother.

Unwillingly, for his mother’s sake, Suman accompanied his parents to meet Gita and her family.

After a few hours of the journey, they reached the house and were warmly welcomed by Gita’s parents. As they were entering the house a boy was rushing out with cricket bat in his hand. Suman guessed him to be Gita’s son and his mood became unpleasant. Their house was simple and neat. After the initial pleasantries, Gita was introduced. She was good looking and the saree she wore added to her beauty. Suman gathered guts and said.”I want to talk to Gita in private.”. They were led to a small balcony. Both of them sat down and their apprehension was visible on their faces. Before Sridhar could start, Gita began,”I have something to share with you. It is regarding my son.”

Suman thought in his mind, Yes, its the same thing I wanted to discuss.

“I have decided to put my son Vijay in the hostel. My parents will bear his expenses and they will be his guardian too. I have nothing to do with him. I don’t like him. I don’t want to see his face. He resembles his dad whom I hate the most. His dad was a drunkard and I went through a lot of suffering and physical torture.”

Suman had nothing to say. This is exactly what he wanted. Now, he did not find any reason to say no to this alliance. After conversing for some more time Suman felt that Gita was apt for him in all respects. Within the next few months, they got married. Gita proved to be an ideal wife who is very loving, wise and takes care of Suman and his parents well.

Everything seemed to be nice to Suman, after a decade of living as a divorcee. Gita gave birth to a baby boy after 2 years of marriage. They named him Rohan. He was very chubby, cute and active. Years passed in a jiffy while both Sridhar and Gita enjoyed their parenthood and did their best for their son. Rohan is now 8 years old.

One Sunday evening, Gita and Suman are having a cup of tea on their balcony and watching Rohan playing cricket in the playground below. A sudden thought passed his mind.

When I went to meet Gita for the first time, I saw his son with a cricket bat and he was of the same age like Rohan.

Suman himself is very much surprised at this passing thought as all these years neither Gita nor he bothered about Vijay. Neither discussed his well-being.

That night Suman could not sleep. Rohan slept cuddled between him and Gita that night. Suman could see a happy and secure feeling on Rohan’s face while he was asleep. A child needs both parents for his overall development. Childhood is nothing without parents’ love.

But..but what about Vijay? Am I at fault? Neither Gita nor I wanted him. But what is his fault? His resemblance to his dad? Just because I was not broad-minded to accept another man’s son, I kept him at bay. I never tried to think from a child’s point of view. Maybe now that I am a father my thinking has changed and vision has broadened. Its not too late even now.

The next morning, Gita woke him up with a hot cup of tea. Suman gestured her to sit beside him. Suman held Gita’s hand and said,”I am very happy and feel blessed that God has given us a second chance of life. I am extremely lucky to have you as my life partner.”

Gita replied,”I am more blessed..you have accepted me though I had a son. You are so understanding and I am leading a very happy and contented life now.”, said Gita.

“But I have to share few thoughts which are lingering in my mind since yesterday. I feel you will understand my thoughts. It’s about your son Vijay.” Sridhar explained her all his thoughts and feelings towards Vijay.

Gita felt very uneasy inside but somewhere she found Sridhar right and wise. She said,”Vijay is now 16 yrs old. Do you think he will accept us?”. Sridhar was optimistic and firmly wanted to bring Vijay home.

That very day itself both Gita and Suman went to Vijay’s hostel and brought him home. Vijay was very reluctant and angry and furiously asked them.

    Why after all these years?

Sridhar explained him everything and felt sorry for him. He ensured he would set everything better and promised to be his friend and a guide, ALWAYS.

Though it was not at all easy for Vijay to trust and accept the family, Suman with his optimistic attitude gave equal attention and love to both Rohan and Vijay. It may take some more time for Vijay to come out of his shell but Sridhar is now able to sleep happily with a sense of contentment.

    NOW, MY FAMILY IS COMPLETE!

  • For a new beginning.

    For a new beginning.

It was a quiet evening; Harsh was all by himself in his suave apartment in California in deep thoughts, when the phone rang. It took a while to get a grip on himself, as he took the phone. He stood in silence as he heard the shuddering voice on the other side. He walked back and laid himself on the leather sofa in his living room. He made a few hasty calls before he went in to take a shower. He was plunged in thoughts as the cab driver drove him through the familiar streets of the city which had become his second home, right from the day, he arrived here 4 years ago. That time, he was just a nervous guy in her early 20s who landed up here. A great job and a seemingly bright career brought him here that day. And the city never disappointed him. But Harsh had to go back to India immediately to keep a promise he had made 4 years back.

As the cab approached the driveway, he was quite content, having arranged his travel to India on a short notice. The travel was on cards and he had been making arrangements to get his vacation sanctioned, but this call was too sudden and he couldn’t bother about the complications of work he had to face once he returns back. This is an emergency; he had to take the next flight out to make his life meaningful.

On board, the instructions of the flight attendants echoed in the background, his focus was on only one person. As the flight took off, soaring high, making its altitude, his thoughts spun backward into a distant past. He was young and a careless teenager who went to an engineering college 30 Km from his home. One day, it is amidst those hours of travel to his college in the trains, he saw Nisha. He was struggling to stand due to excess of passengers in that compartment; a girl offered him a seat beside her after adjusting herself in a cringed space. Initially showing reluctance due to his shy behavior; her continuous request made him sit beside her. After a second of odd silence, he introduced himself and asked her name. She nodded towards him. Her glance made him attracted towards her. The glances turned to glares that made way to a typical friendship. And she became ‘his’ Disha.

Every day, they made it a ritual to meet up at the park near his college. One day, this continued many days, weeks and went on for the next 3 years. The stage reached when even the thought of detachment from each other would make both of them numb. Such was their love towards each other. But, the fate tested them, 4 years back at the Trivandrum International Airport when he was going away from her for a year to the US for his job. But he didn’t return till date to her as his parents relocated with him to the US. And he began to take his professional life way too seriously.

‘Seatbelts on’ He looked at his wrist watch. Another 15 minutes to land. Engulfed in the pleasant thoughts, he knew he had a task ahead, his future was at stake. He was pondering hard, in another few hours, he would be meeting Disha’s father, as her wedding is fixed with another guy, which he had to stop. How would he Disha’s father? How can he convince him to let them marry? He had to get his approval at any cost. Disha was shattered and she needed him now, more than ever. As his thoughts went on accumulating the plane touched the runway with a small thud. As he felt the felt the fresh air of Kerala embracing him. He could feel his energy rising.

He knew he had a herculean task in front of him. As ‘his’ Disha is deeply waiting for him for a new beginning with him.

  • Independence

    Independence

Since childhood, Harry didn’t get the love of his parents. And now when he was in a fix what option did he had?

“How can you do this?” While saying this Shahida was extremely angry.

What? What did I do wrong? Said Harry in a very low and soft tone.

At least you could have asked me. But at this time you didn’t ask me. I accept that. It is okay. It is your opinion. But even after taking a decision you didn’t ask me. How could you do that? At least you could have told me because I am your mother you should have the courtesy take my advice. Shahida spoke all this in the single in the breath.

“Alas, yes…! Oh, I almost forgot that you are my mother. Harry said all this sarcastically.

But I cannot help me because you only put me in this situation. You are the only reason why I am like this. You are the sole reason for my rude behavior and do you know why I am saying so?

I am helpless in this situation because you gifted me this life and told me how to spend it.

    “Me”, asked Shahida.

Yes, mother! Remember the time when I was a toddler. O you remember it?

When I used to crave for the fairy tales so that I can sleep better when I crave for the love that every mother gives to her child. When I need you to pamper me. I needed your shelter when I was a toddler. And what did you do? But you were so hard on me like a metal that I used to manage myself to make me happy.

When I grew elder than before you started handling me a mobile phone to play games to keep me busy so that I will not irritate you. Yiu was selfish. Your phone was full of games, videos of children and the fairy tale videos. I kept playing games or watching the videos of children and fairy tale and got tired soon. And I used to sleep like this when I got tired.

Dad used to come home when I was asleep and went to his office when I was still sleeping. I never used to meet my dad in the regular days except for weekends.

When I used to go tot the school. Who made me learn the new subjects, concepts and theories. Was that you?

No. A bold No. You send me to the tuition classes. I used to study at tuition so that you don’t have to do that hard work for making me study.

Mom abruptly said that who used to pay the tuition fees. We paid it. Because we hoped that at the tuition you will study more as compared to home. We wanted your bright future. And the only option was to make you successful at studies was tuition classes. So we did that.

Harry replied that did you asked my tuition teachers that how I was performing at studies. No never. You always wanted that your formalities are completed. Did you ask the tuition teacher that was I performing ad studying dedicated? You completed your formality that I got to study after school time and after that, you didn’t care.

And whenever I used to ask the question from you, you always said me to google it or check it in the supplementary books. Did you ever make an effort to know that how I studied? Do I need more practice and hard work? Am I good or bad at studies?

Your answer always intended to be a blunt No. When w in seventh standard the internet became my tuition teacher. I always used to rely on the internet for my every study purpose. Internet was my only teacher, friend, and a parent. My life collapsed in this home. I used to live like that I am living under a bed in a corner where no one cares about me. It was like that the dust covered me and everyone just ignored me. I used to live all by myself.

Whenever I faced a hard situation or was in a fix regarding family, friends issue or any school-related problem. I couldn’t ask the solution of my problems with you. Even I could not share my moments with you. Do you know why?

All because you were always busy in your business meetings, official or unofficial gatherings, kitty parties, business trips, social work and every other stuff in the world that always kept you busy. All this work kept you busy always. You completely forgot that I am your child and your son is alive.

This internet always used to be my best friend and always stood by me in every sad and happy moment. This internet is my life and my world since I was in seventh class. Now I have taken decisions consulting this internet where you could have helped me take my decisions. But you were nit always available.

Now tell me what I did wrong? Did I ever take the wrong decision? I was understood to be self-reliant since my birth!

  • The pursuit of happiness

    The pursuit of happiness

    …….The happiness of giving!

Looking at his father, the son Avium and his wife Ayesha were surprised. But after some time, Ayesha asked her father-in-law to be with them for a while and to have lunch with them. What was the reason behind this?

Avium was the only child of their parents. His father worked hard to give him the best education and made all his efforts to make him settle in the new city after getting the job. Avium mother died due to kidney disease and his father was left alone in the home after his son moved to the city. Avium married Ayesha and they both had a son named Ritvik. Ritvik is 6-year-old and study in a very costly school. But his father never moved to the city. He stayed in the village only all alone.

Avium’s father used to live in a village. He lived the simple life. He used to work in a post office but was retired a year before. So, he spends a lot of time in his fields looking for crops. He was a farmer.

Avium and Ayesha worked in a bank and altogether earned a lot. They lived in a 3BHK flat in a very posh colony. They were rich. They had air conditioners in all the three rooms. They had two lavishing cars which used to drop and pick from their homes to banks. But Avium’s father used to go to his work by cycle.

Often Avium’s father used to visit city to meet his son and daughter-in-law. He used to share the happy and unhappy moments with them and sometimes give them advice too. They also used to share sad and happy moments with their father.

But from the past one year, he was very stressed due to crops that he planted in his fields. Monsoon was not good since the past two years so the crops didn’t get enough water. Therefore, he was not able to harvest them. He spent a lot of money and hard work in farming but all went in vain. Due to this, he was not able to meet his son and daughter-in-law from the past one year.

Suddenly one day he went to the city and decided to visit them. He reached their home and asked them about their health and wellbeing.

Avium and Ayesha both were on cloud nine when they saw their father was in pink spirits of health and was completely fit. But after a while, they both were stressed and were in a tension thinking that again their father had come for the losses in his money and could ask for money from them because his crops were destroyed due to the seasons.

“It is by God’s blessing we are earning good amount of money. But we also need money, we also have stresses in our lives, we also have problems. We have taken the car loan, house loan, loan for higher studies of Ritvik and his EMI’s” said Ayesha in a very low tone.

His father after listening all this went to the washroom to take a bath so that he will be fresh after travelling so much. He came out from the bathroom and sat on the chair of the dining table. Avium was sitting beside his father and was sad. Avium’s father asked him, “Why are you sad? Is there any problem? Tell me I will help you in that.” Avium replied in a very low tone with a smiling face, “Dad everything is fine. Avium asked his dad, “Are you fine? Do you have any problem and if yes don’t hesitate to tell me, I will surely help you in that!”

When Avium was asking about his father’s well-being Ayesha looked at Avium in an irritated manner. Father replied, “No son, I have no issues. Only your problem makes me worried. Your problem is my problem.”

After saying all this Avium’s father put his hands in pocket and drew out a bundle of 2000 rupees notes and handed it to his son. While handling this he said to Avium, “The crop of this year was good and I have earned so much out of this.” I got a lot of profit so I came here to give you. All because I wanted to share my income with you. Seeing all this Avium and Ayesha were spellbound. They were in a still because they never shared their profit with their father. But his father came all way long only to share his profit with them.

It is correctly said that the father could only understand the happiness of giving, not the son. Father said to them, “You both should leave for your office, you might be running late. It is also the time for me to leave.”

Ayesha convinced her father-in-law to stay for few days because he rarely comes to their home. Avium’s father declined. Ayesha again asked her father-in-law to wait until the lunch. Avium’s father still declined.

He replied, “I cannot stay until lunch. I had breakfast and that is enough. You both and Ritvik are perfectly fit, I am happy in that only.”

Avium father washed his hands and went to his village on a cycle.

  • In-laws

    In-laws

She realized today that to feel the pain of relatives and other people, relation doesn’t come in between.

Jasmine used to work in a multi-national company and her job was from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Her life was very hectic. She doesn’t get a bit of time for her.

It was the hottest day of the summer when she decided to come back from the office early. She came back from office to home as in the living room and lie down there because she was very tired and exhausted. Due to the sunstroke, she suffered from a headache. Her head was aching so much that she could barely open her eyes and grabbed her forehead very tightly.

Her husband John was at the home only. He saw that she was suffering from pain. So, he gave her two painkillers along with aa glass of water. Maybe this could be some relief to her. But it takes time for medicines to work. She wasn’t getting any kind of relief. She wakes after 10 minutes and got up in a hurry because all her household works were pending. He woke up and rushed to her kitchen and started making dinner for her and her family.

Seeing her father doing all this their daughter Rashida was greatly influenced. Rashida was 4 years old only. She left her drawing book and the toys with which she was playing. She wore her little cute slippers and just like dad pulled out the drawer and too out painkillers from the tablet box. She took 2-3 painkillers out from the box and went to the kitchen and gave medicines to her mom and said, “Mom, please take the medicines you will not feel any pain. It will give you some sort of relief.

Her mom took the medicines and her eyes were filled with tears to see her daughter’s caring nature and her innocence. She pampered her daughter and blessed her for this act of kindness and compassion. Rashida moved out as soon as her mom nodded to take medicines.

Suddenly Jasmine’s mother-in-law came from temple to home. So, after seeing all this she immediately went to the kitchen and asked Jasmine, “What happened? Is there any problem? Are you alright? Are you in your pink spirits of health? Are you fine? Rashida told me that she has given a few medicines to you.

My head is aching said Jasmine to her mother-in-law. Jasmine’s voice was very low she could even utter a word due to this pain.

Go and take rest. Just have a nap, said mother in law to Jasmine. I will prepare the food. Don’t take tension about this.

Jasmine said, “But dear mom, you prepared the food in the morning only”. Let me prepare the food this time.

So, what! I will prepare it to gain, it is not such a huge task and if in any case, I need help I will call John. Don’t worry about this. Go! Jasmine goes to her room and takes some rest. Her mother-in-law started picking up vegetables from the basket and started chopping them. Jasmine took a deep breath and was so relieved after hearing this that after all, she could take rest. She remembered while lying on the bed that at her maternal her mother asks her sister-in-law to make food even if she is suffering from fever or pain she was forced to make food. Her mother-in-law is far better than her mom. He was thinking all this when her mother-in-law knocked the room and came inside. She had prepared tea for Jasmine with some masalas and herbs that would cure her headache. She offered tea to Jasmine. While offering a cup of tea her mother-in-law said to Jasmine, “If in any case you are having any issue regarding your health or other things just tell me. I will be always there for you.”

Jasmine nodded after hearing all this from her mother. Her eyes were filled with tears and she cannot control her tears. There were the tears of compassion and kindness of her mother-in-law.

Mother-in-law got worried and asked Jasmine, “What happened?” Are you missing your mom and your home?

No Mom. I was just thinking that why not all mothers-in-law are like you. You are too kind and loveable. Your heart is so soft and you are too caring that no one can ever imagine.

My dear daughter listens, “I am a mom first then your mother-in-law. And before any mom, I am a woman first and therefore I understand all your pain and happiness. I will share all the happy and sad moments with you because I am your mother.

Mother-in-law put her hand on the head of Jasmine and gave her blessing and told her to take rest. Go and sleep for some time my daughter said her mother-in-law to her mother.

Jasmine kept talking with her mother until she falls to sleep. This was her best sleep ever.

Vivek understands the need of an alternative source of income as his business is just like a game of chess – anything can happen anytime. So for the sake of the stability of finance, he too had the same feeling beforehand. On the other hand, Vivek’s parents are reluctant and rigid to the idea of working now because even though they were not conservative in their thoughts, they felt Kevin should be taken care as he is still not a teenager. He’ll be in need of care and attention in his academics. These points that the in-laws presented before her didn’t go quite well in her head. Priya didn’t take it in the right way; she thinks that the elderly people are not well versed with the today s stance. She thinks that they have lived their life, but somehow restraining her from progressing further.

She picks up the point and starts fighting with Vivek. Vivek being an understanding husband listens to her woes and tries to explain her the reasons for the stubborn reply from his parents. Priya takes it as an ego issue and decides to go beyond the wishes of the family. She prepares a CV for herself and submits it to various schools across Delhi.

After few weeks, Priya receives a telephonic call from a prestigious school for the selection interview. She gets excited and shares her joy with her mother. She decided not to tell this news to her current family as she felt she will be forced to drop the plan.

The interview went as per her expectations and she got her dream job. The date of joining arrived at last. She had been deeply waiting for this day. She gets up early that morning, prepares breakfast for Raghu and her husband and is about to leave her house. Vivek had a questioning look on Priya’s face and asks her where is she up to. Priya replied that she had to visit a friend’s home to discuss the Yoga classes they were planning to attend. Seeing her stuttering out of confusion, he felt something was fishy. He told her to tell the truth.

Now Priya was blank, she was guilty of not disclosing her appointment as a teacher. She gave him the complete description. And what she finds is that Vivek is so happy for her that he hugs and kisses her on her forehead. Then he goes to his parents and tells them that Priya has got a teaching job and she told me two days back and it was he who forgot to tell them!. When Priya hears this from the other room, there were tears in her eyes. She hugged Vivek and felt sorry for hiding so important news from him, and still, he overlooked it without a tinge of anger.

This incident made her realize that TRUST, which is the most rigid foundation for a happy family should not be compromised whatever be the trial.

  • Father’s day- Part 1

    Father’s day- Part 1

A father is one who always stands like a mountain for our problems and is the one who never expresses his emotions. But today when Afridi was leaving he melted the heart of his father.

Where did Afridi want to go?

Afridi had completed all the formalities of moving to abroad. He was done with his passport, visa, and all other accountabilities. Afridi was working with a multinational company and was the associate manager of that company. He has had a great hold over the company and was running it successfully. There was a great opportunity in Japan regarding a training and a project. Also, attending this will promote him. He was so excited as well as anxious when he was selected for the project. Excited because it will promote him and anxious because he will have to leave his family for 5 long years.

Afridi belongs to a middle-class family and his career was of prime importance. It was a huge leap for him. This opportunity was a staircase of accomplishment for him. His mom was extremely happy with this opportunity but on the other hand, he was the single child of his parents and they were so attached to him. That is why on hearing about this project his mom was quite sad. Every time she talked to her son before leaving her eyes would fill with tears. I would every time console her that technology is on the peak, we will video chat daily and if that wouldn’t be possible I will every day call you. Don’t be sad. I am with you and will always be there for you. I will never me you feel lonely. Trust me!

But my mom said, “Can touchscreen gadgets make you feel the actual touch of love?” “Can you taste your favorite food merely by seeing the pictures of food?” Those little and cute talks that we have by sitting beside each other, can messages and talks on phone replace them?

These talks would make Afridi jiggered after all she was her mother. And she couldn’t control her emotions. Her eyes were always filled with tears. I could feel the pain of separation in her eyes and the immense love that she had for me. This was the main reason that was holding me back.

My father was exactly opposite to him. He was extremely serious, was full of authorities and never expressed his emotions. He had the same expression whether he was happy or sad. No one could recognize that what was going inside him. He was subtle. So, after hearing the news of getting the job in abroad for 5 years he was neither excited nor unhappy. I was habitual with this since my childhood. My father always maintained a distance from me I didn’t get that much of love that I got mom, my mother. Although he loved me a lot from the core of his heart but never expressed this. I played very little with my father during my childhood years. He was very firm and strict. I never asked him to buy me a toy or something like this. He loved me a lot but didn’t pamper me like my mom would do. It was not like that he never completed his responsibilities. He always does with his full strength and heart. It was just his personality that he was like this. My mom would act a bridge between us two. Knowingly there was some kind of separation between me and my father due to his nature. This separation was always unspoken.

  • Real Psyche

    Real Psyche

It is not easy to have control over repercussion, but how to handle it my son made me learnt that.

I have a ten-year-old son named Ravin said his mother Namrata. He gets irritated and aggressive very soon when he looks that all the things are not going right according to his mind. It was spring season. The sun was shining so bright that we can feel that the radiations were literally touching our skin. It was so hot. So, my son was getting ready to go to school. It was 7:00 a.m. in the morning when I along Ravin was standing at the bus stop waiting for the school bus to come. Ravin was in his deep thoughts. His thoughts generally put me into question the reality. They were astounding into bewildering me.

Coming back to reality from these mind-bobbling thoughts, he questioned me regarding one of his books. I answered him that probably I would have kept that book in his bag. He grabbed this “probable” word in his mind and that was sufficient enough to make him hostile. I could see it from his face turning red.

He bends down, I wasn’t aware of that what he is up to. The slippers were lying on the floor. He grabbed one of the slippers and threw at me. I was scandalised by his act. Fortunately, the slipper didn’t hit me and it passed into our neighbour’s house. After doing all this he went to the school. It was his absurd reaction to a simple conversation. I was startled by his all of a sudden behaviour. I was in an outrage along with the remorse thinking about his reaction. What should I do for him? What would be best for him? How can I teach him a lesson without any pain?

Leaving all these doubts in my mind, I was waiting for him that when will he come back from school. Finally, when he came back from school to home. I was waiting for him to come back. And in less frequent cases whenever he comes back I am at home. Luckily, this time I was not at home when he returned.

He called me on my phone. I picked the phone on the very first ring. He asked me, “Mom when will you return to home?” Come back soon. I am waiting for you. I started bothering again with his behaviour.

As soon as I reached home, and opened the door. He was standing at the door waiting for me. He grabbed me with his little hand and gave me a tight hug. I was mesmerised. He said sorry to me. He asked me that, “Did I took slipper back from neighbour’s house.” I replied, “Yes, I did.”

After hearing Yes from me, he told me that he was not able to devote to his studies in the school due to this incident. I did wrong. I am a bad boy. I talked to you in a very aggressive manner. I was angry with you. How can I do this?

Did you know that I simply want to rush from school to home just to say sorry to you?

I will never behave in such an aggressive manner. I was startled and kept looking at his face. It was filled with innocence. Also, I kept thinking about his beautiful and innocent mind. His mind was hard as ice and sweet as sugar. He had the purest soul.
