  • Never brag about yourself..

    Never brag about yourself..

Once upon a time there’s a girl named chinki. She is very bubbly and cute girl.

She lives near a forest, while roaming in forest she fell into a pit. She tried many times to get out of the pit but she fails because she is very small in height. Then she started crying. On hearing her crying a tall boy came there and started laughing over her situation.

“Hahahhahah , look you little, what can you do?” Said the tall boy

Chinki pleaded ” please get me out of here.”

But the boy moved on without helping her.

After 2 hours some villagers found chinki and helped her. After that chinki didn’t went in the forest alone .

One day her mother asked her to get some dry branches to cook food.

The sky was dark and stormy but she went on.  She collected the branches and on her returning back it was drizzling.

Lights went off because of the stormy air.

While walking through the forest she heard someone crying “help, help!

Its a boy but she was not able to see his face. She asked the boy why is he crying.

The boy in reply said that he is afraid of the dark and wanted to go back home. So the girl helped him to get of the forest. They both reached the village there were lights every where. When the boy turned his face to say thankyou , he saw that the girl was the one he didn’t helped.

He felt very ashamed and said sorry.

The girls in turn said that you should always help the needy ones. And never brag about your strength.

  • Brave Little Heart – III

    Brave Little Heart – III

Evelyn came down from the branch after some time was passed and Jeff was taken away by those men. She was really scared but did not cry, very carefully she climbed the tree down and reached the bottom where she saw the footsteps of the cannibalists. Her parents finally saw the enormous amount of missed calls from the landline number when they were bidding their final goodbyes to the bride and the groom. Really tensed they tried to call back but the phone was not reachable, so they started to drive as fast as possible to reach home quickly. Here Evelyn started following the footsteps which led her back to the lake where she saw the phone and dialed the first number on the call list, she had a conversation with her parents and told them about the situation. In return, Mr and Mrs. Smith called the police who would take around 30 – 40 minutes to reach their country side situated home.

The mother being really tensed started crying and the father started to pray. They both mutually decided to move back to the city and bid goodbye to the country side forever. Waiting for the police the six – year – old Evelyn decided to go around and look for Jeff, unfortunately, it was a minimum 40 minutes’ walk back to the house and she was already very tired. Irrespective she went ahead and started running. She covered the distance in half the time and started to look around the house, to her surprise they had Jeff in the outhouse.

“There is nothing that I could do to save him,” she thought to herself as she was too small to save Jeff from two fully grown mad men.

At that very instant the police arrived with sirens started ringing throughout the forest, the two of them got really scared and decided to run away, but in their hustle, one of them dropped his wallet and without looking back vanished in the woods. The police found the girl by the house, Jeff in the chair without a finger and lots of blood and the wallet with an identification card. Their parents arrived after 10 minutes and felt sorry for the condition of the children, they thanked the police and gave their testimony. Both of the criminals were caught and sent to jail to serve a minimum period of 14 years in imprisonment with charges of robbery, trespassing as well as cannibalism with further punishment to be decided later. Mr and Mrs. Smith acted upon their mutual decision and left the house forever. Evelyn and Jeff both received a medal for bravery from the President for showing extraordinary courage at the time of crisis and had their photo printed on the first page of the newspaper which was framed and hung on the wall of their new apartment in the city. Everything returned to normal after they shifted but till date, Evelyn often encounters bad dreams of that night.

  • Brave Little Heart – II

    Brave Little Heart – II

He ran towards the dark forest with Evelyn. Several tries were made to contact the couple but they did not pick up due to the loud music at the wedding, stresses he left the cordless near the lake and ran. After running for almost an hour he thought that running was useless as he was a child and they were full grown man, there was no way that he could run faster than them, so he decided to hide instead. A rather gutsy move. They climbed the branches of a fat tree and were extremely vigilant for any voice or shadow. Jeff saw the two men go back from where they came, he turned and took a breath of relief assuming that they were safe now. They were so tired that they slept. Jeff woke up to the sound of those men climbing the tree to approach them as they followed the footsteps. He couldn’t believe that he was such a fool, he quickly picked up Evelyn and put her to another higher branch where she was not seen due to camouflage of the colour of her jacket and the tree’s bark. The men grabbed hold of his leg and pulled him down.

The next thing he remembered was sitting on a chair tied with a rope with the two men staring at him from a distance. He very cleverly overheard the conversation between the two who were planning to kill and eat him even before he woke up but at the end they decided to have a word first and then have their dinner. This made him scared to death and he woke up trembling with an astonished face, he figured out that they were the jail breaker cannibals he read in the newspaper the other day. What should he do? Simply give up or stand up to them? He had loads of questions in his mind. Instead he calmed down his nerve and decided to go with the flow that is have a chat. They decided to play a game with him. Every question that he was able to answer they would do nothing to him but for every question which he was not able to answer they would eat one of his fingers. Tears rolled out of his eyes but had no choice than to accept and play.

The first question was about the house’s safe and where was it located? Now that was a thing he really did not know as he rarely came to visit the family other than baby – sitting. To act smart he made up an answer and told them. One of them checked his told location and found nothing, the result was that he lost one of his feet finger. There was blood and immense pain suffered by him. Several other questions followed to which he answered correctly and was able to save his other fingers. He was hit in the head by one of them which knocked him out. The next thing was seeing the police reaching towards him to ask questions about the incident. But how was it possible as he was knocked out the entire time and then saw the police. Who did all this? Who called the police?

  • Tit for Tat

    Tit for Tat

This is a moralistic story. There was a lazy woman who had to come out of her laziness in order to save her daughter.

In the village of Saguna lived a woman with her daughter. Her husband had died in an accident. But Sarala was too lazy to work. She lived on the money her husband left behind. One day she was sitting on the veranda and knitting for her little one. The ball of wool fell from her hands and rolled on to the road. Sarala was too lazy to get up and pick the wool. She asked every passerby to pick it up for her but none paid heed to her words. They all knew about her lazy nature.

A fox was going through that way; it saw the whole thing and went to Sarala. He noticed a little baby playing beside her and his mouth watered. He said, he was ready to pick up the ball and give it to her but on one condition. Sarala had to marry her daughter to him when she would turn seven. Hearing this Sarala was shocked. Her face turned pale. But then she thought about it for a few seconds and agreed thinking that the fox would forget all about it. Seven years is a long time. The fox gave her the ball of wool and she started knitting again.

Years started passing by, the money her husband left behind had almost finished. Sandya started growing up. Sarala’s laziness had reduced with time. She worked as a tailor too feed her little daughter. Sarala had forgotten all about the promise she had made to the fox in exchange of the ball of wool he had picked up for her.

The day of Sandya’s seventh birthday arrived. Sarala was busy cooking kheer for her little daughter when the doorbell rang. Before she could wash her hands and go open the door, her little daughter came inside and told her that a big fox has come and given her a lot of candies. The incident Sarala had forgotten floated back into her mind. She trembled with fear thinking that the fox had not forgotten about the marriage. She ran outside. She saw the fox had grown even fatter and bigger. The fox showed his enormous yellow teeth and said that the next day he was coming to take his wife.

Sarala had to think of something. He could not let a wolf take her daughter. She thought for the whole night and chalked out a plan.

The next day, when the wolf came, Sarala welcomed him with flowers, sweets and rose water. The wolf was very pleased. Just when he was going to sit for the marriage rituals, Sarala said it was a ritual of their family to bathe the would-be son in law as they would bathe a God. The fox’s chest had blown up with pride. He readily agreed.

Now was the trick that Sarala that thought about. She brought really hot oil and started putting in on the fox’s body with a large wooden spoon. The fox shouted in pain, to which Sarala said that this is how God is treated and she will not compromise her treatment towards God. The foolish fox was ready to take burning pain for pride. Finally, Sarala brought a huge tumbler filled with bubbling hot water. She said the God after the oil massage jumps voluntarily into the tumbler to have a bath. The foolish fox jumped into the tumbler and died. Sarala saved her little one from the hands of the fox.

  • Lots to learn (Before conversion- II)

Lots to learn (Before conversion- II)

The story is basically framed for children to know better about religion.

Thinking about the days when I was young…

It was a fine evening while I came back home from school. After refreshments, I and my brother used to play at the empty space near our home but that evening it was raining heavily. So we decided to make our games indoor. We ran into our doors and later it was a fine surprise to have our grandparents soon in home. They had been in a pilgrimage for the past week and now they are back. We felt happy to have them since they were our best companions.

After a while, I took seat beside my granny while my brother sat beside grandpa and we almost made a circle. Feeling ultimate silence except the noise of the raindrops falling from the leaves outside, Granny began a story. We always loved listening stories from her.

“So today I would like to teach you something rather than a mere story.”

We looked indifferent at what she had planned to teach us and looked at each other. She continued.

“ Hinduism is not a Religion, it is an ocean of Faith. For those who believe, miracles happen in the name of God. Of course, miracles had happened through Faith in the history of almost all of the religions yet, Hinduism, here has many more incidents and evidences proving the Divinity.”

She gave a pause and questioned me. “Who is God?” I being a devotee to Shiv, immediately replied “SHIVA”.

She smiled and said, “Yes my dear, you are right. It is believed in Hinduism that Lord Shiva is the Supreme Power and controls the entire Universe. The Trinity Concept also plays a major role in the framework of Hinduism. According to Trinity, among the three major powers, Brahma, plays the role of creation, Vishnu plays the role of preservation, while Shiva, the supreme power is responsible for destruction. Lord Shiva is believed to be a destroyer yet, he could save the people who have faith on him. Yes, he is known for the destruction of the evils around and that does not mean he destroys everything in the world.”

As she paused we gave an eager look at what she was about to say next. Understanding our eagerness she continued. This time, she pointed at a photo hanging in the doorstep of our pooja room and proceeded. It was the picture of Lord Shiva in the dancing form.

“The Nataraja form of Shiva symbolizes the five major actions for the existence of the world such as 1) Sristi or the creation 2) Sthiti or the maintenance or time 3) Samhara which means destruction  4) Tiro-bhava which means concealment and 5) Anugraha which means the favor or acceptance. Thus, the entire concept compiling this Universe has been explained through a single form i.e the Nataraja or Dancing form of Shiva.

But my little dearies, for the fact, Lord Shiva has actually no form. There exists a story where the Lords Brahma and Vishnu decide to find up Divine Shiva’s head and feet and fails at last revealing that Shiva has no forms in real. There is no ending of his form in a head or feet. Shiva is simply everything. He has no specific forms and the forms that are worshipped by us were created to educate the young minds like you, about spirituality.”

This time I felt a little confused. I asked, “What are you trying to say granny?”

She replied, “ I know you are confused. Hinduism is actually an ocean of faiths and you are not forced to adopt any particular rules. You can have faith and worship the Lord in any from you believe in. The Freedom of thoughts and beliefs is the most important point that adds up dignity to this wonderful religion.

Getting deeper into the powers and supremacy of Hinduism, The Vedas stand at the First place. In a broader sense, Vedas are sources of wisdom and a beginning of the spiritual knowledge. A right thinking, right understanding and a right action combines to form the Divine Truth and riches. Vedas play a major role in inculcating these three in a man who learns them. Vedas are simply a collection of Mantras mainly composed of words, symbols and rhythms. To avert unfavourable things by rituals is the framework of the Vedas or mantras.”

This time, my brother interrupted her. He asked her “Granny, all the religions are having their own Vedas. They call their holy books as Vedas. Are all the books same or different from each other granny?”

Granny looked at us and exclaimed that it was a good question. She felt that it was really essential to explain us this important difference among the Vedas.

“Each religion has its own Veda, the book that comprises the sayings of the great men who framed that religion. But, for Hinduism, Vedas not only instruct us for life, yet, itself plays a role in averting the bad things away from us through its rhythms. OM (pronounced as AUM) is the very basic mantra that has the utmost power of positivity in it. Mantras purify the air around us through their vibrations thereby creating a positive environment.

And, in Hinduism, Vedas are majorly classified into three types as Rig, Sama and Yajur which has several sub classifications in them. Among these, the Rig Veda is a collection of words, having a specific counts in each set. They are similar to a collection of words or a prose. The Sama, on the other hand, is a collection of words and symbols and they are sung according to the symbols they contain. The Yajur Veda finally is framed of rhythmic prose. A classification known as Atharvana Veda is derived by a combination of the Rig and Yajur Vedas.

These Vedas create a positive energy around the people who learn them which the Vedas of other religion does not.”

“How do you say so granny?”  we asked together. “Scientifically, the Universe acts on the basis of the vibration of molecules and the pronunciation of the Vedas are capable of controlling these vibrations of these molecules. Also, singing helps in Pranayama, or the breathing exercise to keep your mind and body in a healthy state. Thus, every ritual in Hinduism was framed with a scientific background that helps in making us have a great life both physically and spiritually.”

we never felt tired on listening to our Granny. It was time for dinner and hence we decided to continue this travel into Hinduism later on. We had a nice supper prepared by our mom, chit-chaatting with the whole family.

Days were always happy in those times…

  • The Brave Little Heart – I

The Brave Little Heart – I

“Come on, we’re getting late” said Mr. Smith

    “Coming” answered Mrs. Smith

This conversation took place between a husband – wife who were going to attend a colleague’s wedding ceremony which was at an hour drive from their newly shifted home. They had a beautiful young daughter Evelyn who was six years whom they decided to leave behind with a baby – sitter Jeff (a family friend). They planned to leave early so that they could reach back at their home till midnight.

After saying the final goodbyes and kissing the daughter they both left in their 1985 convertible Chevrolet that his dad was proud off. Driving to the location the mother was really tensed about their daughter’s safety and well-being as they lived in the country side and have heard certain cases happening in the past as well. She calmed down when they reached the venue and got engrossed in the rituals etc.

Back at home Jeff prepared a nice meal for the little girl and then they had tons of fun playing catch, chasing each other in the house, playing hide and seek etc. Both of them had a good laugh watching loony tunes on cartoon network channel and were so tired that they fell asleep on the couch itself and left the TV running. After almost an hour they woke up and Jeff noticed that the TV has been switched off and there was a note with “Sweet Dreams” written on it. He really got scared and ran to check the doors and the windows to make sure that they were locked, and they were. There was a wave of confusion that took over him as he was not able to understand what was going on, who has written the note, who has switched off the television were some questions that crossed his mind. He decided to sit next to Evelyn who was unaware of all this and was still busy watching loony tunes and wait for the parents to come back.

It was not long before he heard a knock on the main door and was calmed as he expected the parents. But to his surprise it was nobody. He went out to search the surroundings but no one was to be seen. So he decided to go back and call Mr. Smith and report about the weird happenings of the evening. As soon as he entered he was taken aback by shock to see two men with guns staring right at him from the first floor stairs. For a second he was frozen as he was not able to decide what to do, should he give up or run for his life. He ran and picked up Evelyn and then straight out of the house and locked the door from outside locking them inside the house. Little did he know that the door was not the way the murderers entered the house and swiftly went back from the back balcony just by the back door.

  • The Cunning Fox

    The Cunning Fox

Blind trust on no one is good.

In the middle of a forest lived a fox. He was considered very clever by all and hence called Panditji. The entire fox community used to send their children to Panditji to learn. This fox pandit was very clever he used to acquire a good deal of food in exchange to the education he provided. In that forest lived other animals too. Among them was a crocodile.

The crocodile lived with his wife and ten children. Every day he saw all the fox children of the forest went to fox pandit to become wise and knowledgeable. The crocodile wanted to send his children to the fox too. When he passed on his wish to his fellow crocodiles they said it was a bad idea as, the fox is very wicked. He is not at all reliable.

However, the crocodile did not pay heed to their words and wanted to educate his children. He could not bear crocodiles being called foolish by other animals. So, one day, he took his all ten children and went to panditji. Panditji agreed to teach them but on one condition. The children would not go home until the completion of their education. The crocodile agreed to leave his children behind. With tears in his eyes he asked the children to be obedient to panditji and told them after one year he will take them home. He also asked permission from the fox to visit them every month.

The fox’s wife was not in favour of him teaching crocodile children. She said they were dangerous. Even if they did not have brains they definitely have teeth. The fox did not listen to his wife. He looked at the young crocodiles and his mouth watered. Since, the time he first saw them he desperately waited for the crocodile to leave. As soon as the crocodile left, the fox grabbed one of the children and ate him. His wife was dumb folded. She was sure that she and her husband were going to be the crocodile’s meal when he arrives after a month. With each passing day her anxiety and his nonchalance increased. She continuously asked him what he would say when the crocodile would ask about his tenth child. To this he only replied, “When time comes you will see the power of my brain and the stupidity of the crocodiles”.

A month passed and the crocodile and this wife came to see their children. The wife of the fox froze in fear. Panditji came out and said to them that the children are studying so all of them cannot come out at once. He will send them one by one. The crocodiles readily agreed. The wife of the fox waited with her heart in her mouth. At the end when the turn of the tenth child came the fox showed the first child again. The fox did not get caught. Instead he received several gifts from the crocodiles.

Days passed like this. The courage of the fox grew and grew. He started eating three four children a month and escaped every time by repeating the children.

By the end of six months he had finished eating all ten children. His wife had turned pale in fear. When the crocodiles came, she told them that the children have extraordinary intellect. They have gone now to far off forests to learn from greater teachers. The crocodile believed, showered her with gifts and left. The fox then came out of hiding and said that they would escape every single time, just a bit of confidence and a bit of lie.

More five months passed like this. But this time the crocodiles did not seem convinced. They said they did not want their son to study more. All they wanted was to have them back. They had asked them wife of the fox to bring them back in two days. The fox had heard the whole conversation and knew it was time.

He asked his wife to pack their stuff and they eloped. Next day when the crocodiles came they saw the house locked and they went back. They came again and again and saw the house locked. They were both angry and afraid. They brought their fellow crocodiles and broke into the house only to see nothing but bones and scales scattered of their beloved children.

  • A Wise Understanding

    A Wise Understanding

This is a story where the people of a country tries to identify an animal.

Once upon a time, they lived a king. He had a huge kingdom. There was no dearth of anything except knowledgeable clever men. There was a huge river flowing through the centre of his kingdom stretching its tributaries and distributaries on both sides fertilizing the soil, making it green. When the king stood on the veranda of his palace he could see the ripples in the blue river. Breeze from the rivers kept his kingdom cool and serene.

There was one huge problem that the king faced while governing his kingdom; the people were stupid. They had to be told in details what could be done and they would blindly follow it. Once, a clerk was copying a royal decree he noticed that in between the lines there is the corpse of a fly. Instead of throwing away the dead fly, the clerk started searching for a fly to kill and paste. The whole day passed like this. Finally he could manage to catch and kill a fly. When his superior asked him why he could not complete his work he explained to him the situation. His superior instead of being angry was pleased to see his dedication.

Not even the king was spared of stupidity. At one point of time he had decided to move his capital inland for he felt it might be easily attacked by the pirates who came water way. He was convinced that to change the capital when one needs to carry the whole population of the old capital to the new capital. Once he had done the blunder of the exchange of people of the two places his chief minister told him that this was not necessary. Only with a few group of people changing location along with the royalty would have been enough. Immediately the king realized his fault. He decided he along with the entire population would move back to the river bank capital.

The king realized that the only clever person ion his kingdom was his chief minister. So, to not let any cleverness escape from his body he build him a glass room and preserved him like a treasure. The prime minister was not allowed to talk to anybody or to think as the king did not want all his cleverness to be used up in such petty activities. He would be preserved only for the king to use.

One monsoon the neighbouring kingdom was hugely affected by flood. People were homeless, trees had broken down and the animals that had drowned, their corpse washed up on the banks of this river. One fine morning, the people saw a strange animal lying on the bank. It was huge; it had a big belly and was black in colour. The people were stunned to see it. The king was called. He too could not identify the animal for there was no pig in his kingdom.

The prime minister was brought out of his glass chamber to identify the animal. He closely looked at the pig and said, there were two chances, either it was an elephant who had eaten a lot and therefore shrunk and died or perhaps it could have been a rat who had eaten too much thus had inflated. The king was very pleased to hear this diagnosis. He gifted the prime minister with riches for his wise understanding and sent him back to his glass chamber.

  • The little economist

    The little economist

The story is about a girl who is pressurized by her family to take up science in 11th and 12th. She defies all the odds and achieves her dream of becoming an economist.

Susanna was a topper. Let it be in kindergarten or in school, she has always stood first. Not only academically but also in sports, music and dance. The teachers in her school always used to think that she is going to take up science during her 12th grade, Biology to be exact and then become a doctor. Not only her teachers but also to some extent her parents also thought the same.

That’s what happens in India, isn’t it? Science students are considered to be the toppers and people who end up taking commerce or humanities are well, not good as students. Susanna was not a science freak. She believed in the reality of life.

“Mom Dad, I have decided I will take up commerce”

“Beta, whatever you decide” said Rohit.

“But why not science? From the day that you have started learning biology, you have always topped” Said Sumita.

“Mom, I know I am good at biology and physics but that’s not my interest. I don’t want to be a doctor rather I want to do something heroic for the country like Amartya Sen did”

“He’s an Economist” said Rohit and Sumita.

“Of course I know that and that’s what I want to be”

After two months of the 10th board exams, result were out. Susanna was the state topper of UP. She was awarded and the media took her interview too.

Then after that, it was the time to decide.

“Dad, I will continue in the same school for 11th and 12th and take up commerce”

Rohit was happy because he was in the business market and he knew what Susanna wanted to become was something even tougher than being a doctor. Sumita was not satisfied with her decision but she was never going to force Susanna that was her promise. When a girl child was born to her, Sumita was criticized by her conservative family and from there on she promised herself to give Susanna all the freedom she wanted.

During her school career, Susanna excelled in 11th and 12th grade as well. Let it be a simple class test or annual exams, she topped. Before the boards began she started applying for various colleges like SRCC, Stephens and Christ University.

“Mom, my results for boards will be out tomorrow” said Susanna to Sumita.

“Beta, don’t worry I am sure you will do well”

At 10 o’clock sharp, Susanna sat in front of the computer waiting for her results. Her anxiety increased as the result was delayed by one hour.

“97.3% Mom and Dad” said Susanna as she kept the calculator on the table with tears in her eyes.

Two weeks after that, she got into a college of her dreams where she was going to pursue Economics Honours. She had to leave two weeks later.

Today, Susanna is 25 years old. She has written a lot of books on inflation, poverty and hunger. She completed her Masters abroad but came back to work for her motherland. She is one of the youngest economists of the country and works as the deputy governor of RBI.

Sumita and Rohit are visiting Susanna today.

“She actually did it Sumita” says Rohit. “Our daughter is one of the known economists in the country today and she is just 25”.

“She is my little Economist” replied Sumita.

  • Time to save

    Time to save

In a world of increased pollution and several other crisis, it is just the time people need to realise and save our future.

I wondered when are these people going to change. I regretted the fact how insane they are. I felt worried thinking of the Earth’s future. It is just another day my mind is fed up with all these thoughts. Every time I reach the wash area, I see someone wasting so much of water. Either they keep the tap running off while brushing, use more water for washing less number of clothes, or they use so much of water to clean the utensils and so on. I keep warning each one of them to save water. But no one lent ears to my words, rather I was looked up as a common enemy by everyone for I had been indulging in their freedom of using resources. I never worried about how they treated me and I always kept turning off others’ taps while they were wasting water. I felt scared of where all these are going to end up.

I looked up on the world’s records regarding water issues. There existed so many nations, especially in the southern parts of Africa where people are suffering for pure water. There had been occurring water crisis in many parts. Although 70% of our Earth is made of water only 3% of it is pure and usable for our purposes, the rest are saline or salt water, in the sea. Of this 3%, much has depleted due to our usage, or polluted due to human activities. So the present level of available pure water for usage is much low. People have not realized this issue. Everyone thinks that its their rights to use water just because they pay money for it.

You have rights to waste your money. But you have no rights to waste the society’s resources.

At the bottom of my heart, I always wanted to find some solution to this problem. I decided to take a chance with the cultural program of the College. I made a survey regarding all these water issues all over the world and made a presentation regarding the same. I decided to hold up a felicitation on this issue at the Culturals event. The organizing committee reviewed my presentation and rejected it as they felt it would be boring at the happy evening. I felt fed up totally and said to myself that they were just one among those who waste resources. I strongly wanted to create an awareness on this issue. Thinking for a while, my mind caught up with my mobile. I scrolled out in it and then struck with the idea of using social media. I uploaded and shared my presentation with my friends through whatsapp and facebook. I felt atleast 10 out of 10000 people will realize on seeing this and started forwarding my presentation to the groups I were in. To my satisfaction I received good replies from everyone and had more number of shares.

But this wasn’t my actual target. I wanted to end up this issue on water crisis which is expected to occur even in our nation in the near future. So I wasn’t fully satisfied. I was thinking over and over again. Then I felt, it is the children who could be changed easily. Also, they are the citizens of the future. So I decided to change the minds of the children and started travelling to the nearby schools in the evenings. I met a lot of enthusiastic kids who keenly observed what I spoke. Some understood what I tried to establish and some felt shocked about the future. I felt satisfied that atleast few of them will pass this on to their family so that wastage of water could be reduced to some extent.

I continued my school visit when I went to my hometown. My ambition was not only to save water but also to establish a good awareness on depletion of various natural resources. I suggested on reducing wastage of electricity, reduced usage of plastics and the importance of cleanliness. The importance of separating degradable and non-biodegradable wastes should be well understood so that people handle the wastes in a proper way. This will help in reducing land pollution since accumulation of wastes is a major problem in our country.

Also, the society should understand the hazards of industrial effluents so that a massive protest against the establishment of toxic industries could be started. People have not realized the level of pollution of land and water through industrial effluent. Through my talks, I established strong awareness and opinions in the young minds of children including those kids of the government officials related to the industrial development corporation. I felt that some of the dads may change their minds through the words of their cute daughters so that they don’t get into accepting bribes for granting permission for those hazardous industries of the town.

The recent fact that an industry manufacturing poly vinyl chloride, a toxic substance that could pollute air and soil has been inaugurated in my town made me run through shivers. That year, I visualized the pollution and experienced lesser or absence of rainfall during the season truly because of that company. A thin film of polluted air was established in a radius of around 6 km around that industry and this prevented rainfall in these regions.

When I enquired through the people who survived close to that industrial area, I was astonished with the fact that bribe was at its peak in the establishment of this industry. It was actually banned in other nations while the industrialists probably managed to start it here through the influence of money. Many great political leaders and higher officials have involved in this bribe event and everything has been moved legally for starting the company. Approvals were based on payments and the value of life and survival of the people in the city were not taken into consideration. I felt that there is no solution to this problem since it involved higher levels of corruption in the concerned authorities.

As days passed by, my visits and speeches got spread through many parts of my hometown as well as around my college. I could sense the change in few people around me at the hostel. I felt a bit happy for the change yet there are so many people still ignoring the value of resources, especially on the wastage of those non- renewable resources. I wondered if there are any possibilities for changing all these people. Fate.. there was absolutely nothing that could be done on solving this issue.

If the government decides to implement stern regulations for usage of resources simultaneously establishing terrible punishments by law, there may come a change. But it was actually a long way ahead. Even the higher officials and scientific dignitaries of the nation have not realized the seriousness of this issue and hence there is really no solution to this issue until the society decides to change.

With a confidence built in myself that I could change atleast few people of the society I continued my journeys to several areas around. I wished that some day everyone starts saving resources before its too late.
