  • “The Enchanted Clearing: Amara’s Journey of Nature and Magic”

Once upon a time in a small village nestled deep within a dense forest, there lived a young girl named Amara. She had always felt a special connection to nature and spent most of her days exploring the enchanting woods that surrounded her home. Amara’s village was known for its vibrant culture and traditional festivities. Every year, they celebrated the Festival of Lights, a grand event where the villagers adorned their houses with beautiful lanterns and lit up the entire village. It was a magical sight to behold. One evening, as Amara was wandering through the forest, she stumbled upon a hidden pathway she had never seen before. Curiosity overwhelmed her, and she decided to venture down the mysterious path. It led her deeper into the heart of the forest, where she discovered a hidden clearing filled with the most extraordinary creatures she had ever seen. There were mystical beings with shimmering wings, mischievous sprites dancing in the moonlight, and talking animals conversing with one another. They welcomed Amara with open arms, sensing the pureness of her heart and her deep love for nature. Amara spent days and nights in the enchanted clearing, learning from the magical creatures. They taught her the secrets of the forest, the healing powers of plants, and the ancient rituals to communicate with animals. Amara’s bond with nature grew stronger, and she realized her purpose was to protect and preserve the beauty of the forest. Word of Amara’s extraordinary encounters spread throughout the village, sparking curiosity and excitement among the villagers. They began to visit the hidden clearing, witnessing the wonders themselves. The Festival of Lights took on a new meaning as the villagers incorporated elements from the enchanted forest into their celebrations. As time passed, the village and the enchanted forest became interconnected. The villagers recognized the importance of living in harmony with nature and adopted sustainable practices. They established a sanctuary to protect the creatures and the forest, ensuring its preservation for generations to come. Amara’s story was passed down through the generations, becoming a tale of hope, unity, and the power of nature. It inspired many to reconnect with the natural world and appreciate the wonders that surrounded them. Although Amara’s story remained unpublished and unheard of beyond the village, its essence spread far and wide. People who encountered the forest, whether by chance or destiny, felt a sense of awe and wonder. They experienced the magic of the hidden clearing, a place where the boundaries between the human and mystical world blurred. And so, the story of Amara and the enchanted forest lived on, a timeless tale of a young girl who discovered her purpose and brought light to the lives of those she touched. It remained a secret, shared only by those who believed in the power of magic and the profound connection between humanity and nature.

  • The Ring of Horror

He entered the room looking for her but found no one in the house. So he slept on her bed for a while and when he woke up, there was still no trace of Rose. He was worried about her as he hadn’t seen her in a while and hadn’t been answering his calls. Rose had earlier mentioned some important work to attend to. She had left him with a red box back at his place in case she hadn’t made contact with him within the month. So, he decided to go back to his place and open the box. He reached his house and was about to open his door when he saw a girl waiting by the gate terrified. She was a young girl and looked around fifteen years of age. She was blonde and had deep blue eyes. He asked her who she was and what she was doing at his house.

But, all she did was scream “ She killed them, she killed them all”.

Later she told him that her name was Abby and that she was lost on the way back from the church.

She pleaded with him to let her stay for the night and so he agreed. Once inside the house, he asked her more about her and so she told him her story. She told him that her father was a priest and her mother an antique dealer. But, both of them were murdered by her elder sister at the cathedral. When she saw this she ran for her life which led her to his house. He noticed something shining on her hand.

“It is my mother’s,” said Abby, noting him staring at her hand.

She told him that the ring was gifted to her on her sixteenth birthday and that it was a family heirloom.

“Get some sleep” he told her.

He was terrified after hearing her story, but he didn’t want to worry her so he quietly left the room and picked up his phone. He was about to call the police when suddenly he remembered about the red box. He went to his room and opened it. He was startled by what he saw so much that he threw it on the floor. He couldn’t believe what he saw, but there it was; the antique ring which he had seen a moment ago on the girl’s hand. He leaped to his feet and ran towards the girl’s room. But, he couldn’t find her. She was gone. Suddenly he heard a noise outside and ran towards the noise. He then saw the girl walking towards the direction of the church.

    “Stop”, he screamed.

But she kept walking until she reached the church. He was surprised to see that the church was deserted even after the murders. He searched for bodies but found none.

“Who are you”, he asked her.

“I am Abby Margaret, daughter to Harry and Ginny Margaret, sister of Rose Margaret”.

He suddenly remembered that fifteen years ago there was a murder which happened at this church to the Margaret family.

    “Rose?” he asked terrified.

“Yes, she killed me and my parents fifteen years ago”.

“From that day on she had been trying to bring me back. Now that it’s done, I finally got my revenge by killing her. I came to you only because I want that ring back as it is cursed. It is not wise to leave it with the humans as it triggers unwanted emotions”. So he gave her the ring back.

“Sorry, I have to kill you too because you have seen all of this”. So she touched him on his forehead and so he fainted. He woke up with a start in Rose’s room and as she hasn’t come home yet, he decided to go back to his own house. When he reached his home, he saw a girl standing by his gate….

  • The “Tring-Tring” Sound

There was a boy named Aftab, 7 years old, brown eyes, brilliant mind. He used to sit on the stairs of his house staring at the road whole day Long watching vehicles passing there. His parents were a little bit worried about his this type of behavior because they had never saw him doing so therefore it was weird for them. When they used to call him for lunch, he used to refuse it and continue watching the street. One day his father noticed that he stands up when a “tring-tring” sound comes from the street and he also noticed a hopeful smile on his face. The very next day, Aftab went to the school, unaware of the fact that he would be surprised by his dad at the home. When he came back home, he heard the sound of cooker whistle that he used to hear everyday, but today, that sound was a bit different because it was mixed with the “tring-tring” sound and after hearing that sound coming straight out of his house his hopeful smile changed into a complete smile and he went straight into his house took his new bicycle down on the lane forgetting about lunch with the group of bicycles joining his new friends and now on that same road there was Yahya, a 7 year-old boy, black eyes, brilliant mind, who was sitting on the stairs of his house hearing that “tring-tring” sound with the hopeful smile.

It’s a never-ending cycle that goes down the lane

  • Moon and Starry nights

The moon looked radiant. I am not quite familiar with the concept of lunacy and how the term ‘lunatic’ is derived from the moon. The waxing and waning phases affecting a person’s sanity sounds absurd but then when we look at Van Gogh’s painting of starry night and the fact that he was in an asylum for a couple of years makes me wonder if it is a myth after all. I looked out through the window, the night was still. There was no usual hissing of crickets or the rustling of leaves. It was as if time has altogether put itself to a halt. As if time was tired of moving incessantly, period after period and ages after ages.

I have a dangerous hobby. Moving out through the corridors at the wee hours of the night is one. Reliving people’s lives in my head over and over again is another. How sad is it that the day we are born, we get tied to our fate called Death? That we live carrying with us a ticking clock that can explode any minute. I get fascinated when I read poems of Emily Dickinson where she imagines Death to be her lover. But the question is how does one really feel while living the last minutes of their lives? Is the ‘memories of entire life flashing before your own eyes’ while your brain is shutting down, a hoax?

I cannot stop thinking about Ruby, my roommate. Ex-roommate now. Mrs. Long says she was adopted by a well-off family living in the outskirts. It is sad that she left, without a word, without a note. It feels like an eternity since I have known her. The corridors seem to have stretched themselves at night as I walk down the hall. How long have I been strolling aimlessly? It is difficult to think straight when you are under depressants. I tried recalling what I ate for lunch or breakfast or why was there blood on my hands for that matter?

  • Moon

Akash sat on the window tracks, looking at the moon shining in the night sky. He watched as the moon hid behind the clouds and played peek-a-boo with everyone down on Earth. A smile crossed his face as he continued to look at the dark sky and the bright moon along with the stars. The number of stars is far more than the number of the moon yet everyone just notices the one moon and praises it a lot more than they do it for the stars. Akash, too, had just focused on the moon.

Through his peripheral vision, he noticed his phone screen had brightened. Must have been a notification but his eyes were now fixed on his lock screen image. He smiled. It was an image of his older brother and him. As the phone screen started to dim, Akash looked at the moon again, comparing it with his brother. There were as much as a few hundred people in Akash’s life. Friends, Relatives, Neighbors, Acquaintances, etc. Its not like Akash didn’t appreciate their presence in his life. He loved them. He adored them. He admired them. Just not as much as he did for his brother. Akash was so used to his brother and his presence, his talks, his mischiefs, his ideas, his beliefs that he couldn’t compare any of that with anyone else. No one was remotely as close as him. Sure, as siblings they had their fair share of arguments and fights, but whenever anything troubled Akash, the solution was his brother. The bond of siblings was strange, he realized, when you are with them, you fight with them. When you not with them, you want to be with them so you can fight with them. The goal is that the conversation must go on, come what may. Silence was never accepted. He never told his brother how much his presence and words mattered to him. Never needed to. He just understood.

Akash now felt a little alone. His brother had moved abroad for studies. Sure, there were people in his life whom he could confide into but were they as close as brother. Not really. He missed him. Just as he misses the moon when its not in the sky. He got down from the window tracks and was about to move to the bed when his phone rang. A smile came upon his face. It was his brother. He sat back and answered the call as the conversation began. He looked in the sky and watched as the moon no longer was behind the clouds.

  • Friendship : The Rainbow of Life

Friendship : The Rainbow of Life

Seven friends – Sweta, Rahul, Sameer, Pawan, Krish, Soumya and Rimjhim are the bosom friends. Their friendship may be a paradigm for others which is very rare in present day’s self-centered society.

One day they meet in the park and start conversion. Randomly, Rahul tells everyone to tell what is their favorite color and why. Sweta replied first that her favorite color is “Blue”, the color of sky which represents peace and calmness. Rahul conveys that he likes “Yellow” the most, the color of sunshine representing energy, warmth and happiness. Soumya apprizes her likeliness towards “Green.” It symbolizes refreshment and prosperity. Pawan has a great fondness of “Indigo”, the slightly deeper version of blue. It encourages man to think more deeply about life and has a strong connection with spiritualism and inward thinking. Sameer pushes himself towards “Red” because it is full of vibrance and strong emotion. Krish likes “Orange”, the mixture of red and yellow. It represents both the vibrance and of red and happiness of yellow. At last Rimjhim tells her fascination for “Violet” that stands for empathy, kindness and creativity.

To some distance, an old lady is sitting there. She can overhear their conversation and feels a rejoice witnessing their bonding. By the time, she joined them. The lady with her visionary point of view explains the youths – “My dear children! All the colors you all like individually are together existent in “Rainbow” and with the amalgamation of these seven, we get another color that is “White.” It is the symbol of purity. And purity undoubtedly is the most prominent aspect of friendship. So, I heartily pray to the Almighty — your friendship always remain as pure as the Rainbow.”

All seven friends were listening to the old lady’s words mesmerizingly. Now they can realize how valuable the friendship is! They promised each other, “No difficulty will be able to break our bonding. However the situation is , we would stand up for each other always.” Their eyes were filled with the tears of happiness.

  • Verghese Kurien : Father of White Revolution in India

Before independence life was difficult for Indians under the British. Numerous Indians were even employed by the British, where they were to slavishly obey everything said. One of these youngsters was collaborating closely with the British. Since the British government had plans to establish a milk production facility in India, they chose to send him to the US to pursue “pasteurization” because he was a clever boy they admired. It was just one strategy of the British to grow their economy. The young boy objected saying he wanted to pursue nuclear physics because he was interested in it. But Britishers denied and he had no choice but to move to US.

He was clever. He did not let any British officials know and took admission in a different university and pursued nuclear Physics there. On returning back to India, he was immediately ordered to move to Gujarat and open a milk pasteurization plant. He admitted his deeds to the British and told how he studied nuclear Physics there. The officials were furious and strictly commanded him to set up the milk plant in Gujarat.

He went to Gujarat, had no clue, knew nothing and had no help. He then went to the local farmers, talked to them, learned on his own and was finally successful in not only building the plant but also convinced the farmers to supply their cow’s milk to the plant, from where it will be packed and distributed in the market for the consumers to buy.

Farmers were happy thinking they would get a good share of money which will improve their economic condition. But the Britishers made such a policy that most of the money would go in their own pockets and a bare minimum to the farmers. The young boy was not happy with this policy.

After the independence of India, the situation remained the same for a long time. The young boy tried to be in talks with the Indian government but none were concerned about the farmers. Then the young boy decided to open his own milk factory which was a cooperative with the farmers, where they will have an equal share in the company. Then one by one opened 7-8 milk factories. Soon the farmers economic condition improved.

This came to be known as the “White revolution” in India. Because it revolutionized the milk industry, increased the GDP of the country and above all improved farmers lives. This young boy was none other than Verghese Kurien, today known as the “Father of the White Revolution” in India. It is because of his efforts that India is one of the largest producers of milk in the world.

  • “Tangled threads: Unmasking the secrets of threads”

Amelia was a typical 16-year-old with a passion for puzzles and an insatiable curiosity. She was a resident of the sleepy hamlet of Cedarwood, where nothing noteworthy ever seems to occur. But when Amelia discovered a cryptic letter addressed to her late father, her life was about to take an exciting change. Her father’s desk had a forgotten drawer where the letter was stashed away among old paperwork. Its cryptic information alluded to a family secret that had been guarded for many generations as well as a buried treasure. Amelia was curious and eager to learn the truth, so she proceeded to investigate her father’s past. Her first lead took her to an ancient, deserted mansion outside of town. She experienced a chill as she entered the squeaky front door. The house had an unsettling vibe due to the cobwebs and shadows that covered it. She continued however, despite her anxiety and thrill racing through her body. Then she found a sequence of puzzles and riddles inside that seemed to be created just for her. She was able to uncover the truths of her family’s past as she moved deeper inside the estate with each clue she answered. She came across unusual symbols, secret spaces, and closed doors that protected the information she was looking for along the route. She kept having the sense that someone was watching her as she went along. The atmosphere was tense as whispers resounded through the hallways. Her tenacity, however, propelled her forward and led her through the mansion’s labyrinth. She heard approaching footsteps one evening as she worked in the study to decrypt a particularly challenging code. Her pulse was racing as she hastily ducked behind a thick curtain. The room was suddenly invaded by a shady figure that seemed menacing and sinister. It appeared that someone else was looking for the same solutions she was. She watched the figure scan the room, anxiously looking for clues, from her hiding place. She was shocked to discover that the intruder was Mr. Harrison, an old business associate of her father. Even though she had always suspected him, Amelia never imagined that he would be privy to her father’s secrets. She was aware that she needed to take immediate action as Mr. Harrison got closer to learning the truth. She persisted in figuring out the puzzles while eluding him. She arrived at a secret underground cavern beneath the estate thanks to the last hint. She found her father’s secret diary inside the chamber. It revealed a startling fact: Her father had found a treasure that had been lost for a very long time, but it was cursed. It was said that whoever owned the treasure would suffer bad luck. Her father hid the wealth out of regret and a promise to spare future generations from its curse. She was still taking this information in when Mr. Harrison entered the room, his eyes gleaming with avarice. She stepped in to stop him before he could attack the treasure and release its curse on the world. In the ensuing conflict, Amelia outwitted Mr. Harrison by employing her cunning and dexterity. Ultimately, she was able to defeat Mr. Harrison and leave the cave with the cursed riches. She felt both relief and sadness as she left the mansion. Though the riddle had been cleared out, her father’s burden now fell squarely on the shoulders of the young girl. She made the decision to bury the riches far away, where it would never again be a threat. She confronted Mr. Harrison as well, telling them the truth about his motivations. Now that the truth was in the light, Cedarwood could leave its eerie history behind. She had learned from her trip the importance of tenacity, bravery, and the strength of family secrets. Although she was aware that life would never be the same again, she was nonetheless determined to face.

  • Cruel winter

“Have you seen Yuri around?” I asked a dorm mate in search of my friend Yuri who had borrowed my hair straightener but apparently is now “missing”. Just then I heard a familiar voice “JEON EUNCHAE, I heard you were looking for Yuri, she’s in the hall helping with the decorations” said Jisoo, who is one of my roommates. I live in a dorm since I don’t have the best relationship with my father or step-mother.  My dorm is well known for it’s strictness and disciplinary. My room consists of three other roommates of mine. Considering my College and Dormitory’s history, they’d never let any male creature make it past the gate, but it all changes tonight. My college is hosting a new year’s ball tonight and is sponsored by the city’s mayor since his daughter goes to our college but his request was to let the students bring their own dates. In the midst of the crowd, I found Yuri and asked for my straightener as my hair desperately needed styling! It was time for the Ball “The New Year’s Ball of 1992” it was called so. ALOT of couples and single men were entering the premises, then enters the most JAW-DROPPING Handsome man ever, he doesn’t seem to have a partner with him, one of my roommates boyfriend is inviting his friends to the ball and it’s a blind date for us. “I hope he’s my blind date” I mumble to myself as I move to get some volunteer work done! My roommates boyfriend comes over and introduces us to our dates, I stay still and let my anxiety take over me, I thought I had no chance with him what so ever, “May I have this dance?” he approaches me with the purest smile ever! “My pleasure” I reply as my hand reaches on top of his. “This is no gentlemen way of introducing myself but I’m Han Jeonghan, You look beautiful tonight” he says while in the middle of dancing, “I’m Jeon Eunchae and my pleasure to meet you” I say while my face gets redder than an apple! After the dance, we share a moment by getting to know eachother better, “You don’t look like you can sing trot” he says to me whiling laughing, the smile only lasted for a brief moment!! Suddenly everyone starts screaming, running, tripping over in panic. What caused this sudden panic? I wondered while I walk over towards the crowd in the middle of the ball room, I see four police men with what looked like fully loaded guns in their hands and waist. “We are in search of a North-Korean spy, and we’ve just received information that he’s in this ball room right now, so the suspect better surrender himself before we pull him out of the crowd ourselves” says one of the police men which causes more panic in people. I look around not being able to find Jeonghan. Everyone is being evacuated one by one. I start to panic a little since the situation is getting a pretty serious. I go looking for Jeonghan, I’m in the 3rd floor looking for him and calling out his name, I suddenly heard a noice, it sounded like footsteps. I start to get a little creeped out and wondering if the spy was around. I was caught off guard as someone wrapped their palms against my mouth, grasped my arms tight and pulled me into one of the rooms from the hallway, locks the door and turns around, it’s Jeonghan. I freak out even more, this means that Jeonghan is definitely the spy that the police were looking for. “Listen to me carefully and don’t panic, by now you probably realize what’s happening, I have no intention of hurting you nor will I let you anyone hurt you, I like you a lot and don’t want anything bad happening to you” he says while I still continue to panic. I do not know whether to be happy over the sudden confession of love or be flustered. I like him a lot too but I wonder what will happen to him if the police manage to catch him tonight. He asks me to pretend to be sleeping and have no idea of the situation what so ever while he hides in my room! I do as he says as I do not wish for him to be caught. Just in a while the police are at the door knocking. I pretend to be sleeping so they bust open my door to see…
