Looking at his father, the son Avium and his wife Ayesha were surprised. But after some time, Ayesha asked her father-in-law to be with them for a while and to have lunch with them. What was the reason behind this?
Avium was the only child of their parents. His father worked hard to give him the best education and made all his efforts to make him settle in the new city after getting the job. Avium mother died due to kidney disease and his father was left alone in the home after his son moved to the city. Avium married Ayesha and they both had a son named Ritvik. Ritvik is 6-year-old and study in a very costly school. But his father never moved to the city. He stayed in the village only all alone.
Avium’s father used to live in a village. He lived the simple life. He used to work in a post office but was retired a year before. So, he spends a lot of time in his fields looking for crops. He was a farmer.
Avium and Ayesha worked in a bank and altogether earned a lot. They lived in a 3BHK flat in a very posh colony. They were rich. They had air conditioners in all the three rooms. They had two lavishing cars which used to drop and pick from their homes to banks. But Avium’s father used to go to his work by cycle.
Often Avium’s father used to visit city to meet his son and daughter-in-law. He used to share the happy and unhappy moments with them and sometimes give them advice too. They also used to share sad and happy moments with their father.
But from the past one year, he was very stressed due to crops that he planted in his fields. Monsoon was not good since the past two years so the crops didn’t get enough water. Therefore, he was not able to harvest them. He spent a lot of money and hard work in farming but all went in vain. Due to this, he was not able to meet his son and daughter-in-law from the past one year.
Suddenly one day he went to the city and decided to visit them. He reached their home and asked them about their health and wellbeing.
Avium and Ayesha both were on cloud nine when they saw their father was in pink spirits of health and was completely fit. But after a while, they both were stressed and were in a tension thinking that again their father had come for the losses in his money and could ask for money from them because his crops were destroyed due to the seasons.
“It is by God’s blessing we are earning good amount of money. But we also need money, we also have stresses in our lives, we also have problems. We have taken the car loan, house loan, loan for higher studies of Ritvik and his EMI’s” said Ayesha in a very low tone.
His father after listening all this went to the washroom to take a bath so that he will be fresh after travelling so much. He came out from the bathroom and sat on the chair of the dining table. Avium was sitting beside his father and was sad. Avium’s father asked him, “Why are you sad? Is there any problem? Tell me I will help you in that.” Avium replied in a very low tone with a smiling face, “Dad everything is fine. Avium asked his dad, “Are you fine? Do you have any problem and if yes don’t hesitate to tell me, I will surely help you in that!”
When Avium was asking about his father’s well-being Ayesha looked at Avium in an irritated manner. Father replied, “No son, I have no issues. Only your problem makes me worried. Your problem is my problem.”
After saying all this Avium’s father put his hands in pocket and drew out a bundle of 2000 rupees notes and handed it to his son. While handling this he said to Avium, “The crop of this year was good and I have earned so much out of this.” I got a lot of profit so I came here to give you. All because I wanted to share my income with you. Seeing all this Avium and Ayesha were spellbound. They were in a still because they never shared their profit with their father. But his father came all way long only to share his profit with them.
It is correctly said that the father could only understand the happiness of giving, not the son. Father said to them, “You both should leave for your office, you might be running late. It is also the time for me to leave.”
Ayesha convinced her father-in-law to stay for few days because he rarely comes to their home. Avium’s father declined. Ayesha again asked her father-in-law to wait until the lunch. Avium’s father still declined.
He replied, “I cannot stay until lunch. I had breakfast and that is enough. You both and Ritvik are perfectly fit, I am happy in that only.”
Avium father washed his hands and went to his village on a cycle.
She realized today that to feel the pain of relatives and other people, relation doesn’t come in between.
Jasmine used to work in a multi-national company and her job was from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Her life was very hectic. She doesn’t get a bit of time for her.
It was the hottest day of the summer when she decided to come back from the office early. She came back from office to home as in the living room and lie down there because she was very tired and exhausted. Due to the sunstroke, she suffered from a headache. Her head was aching so much that she could barely open her eyes and grabbed her forehead very tightly.
Her husband John was at the home only. He saw that she was suffering from pain. So, he gave her two painkillers along with aa glass of water. Maybe this could be some relief to her. But it takes time for medicines to work. She wasn’t getting any kind of relief. She wakes after 10 minutes and got up in a hurry because all her household works were pending. He woke up and rushed to her kitchen and started making dinner for her and her family.
Seeing her father doing all this their daughter Rashida was greatly influenced. Rashida was 4 years old only. She left her drawing book and the toys with which she was playing. She wore her little cute slippers and just like dad pulled out the drawer and too out painkillers from the tablet box. She took 2-3 painkillers out from the box and went to the kitchen and gave medicines to her mom and said, “Mom, please take the medicines you will not feel any pain. It will give you some sort of relief.
Her mom took the medicines and her eyes were filled with tears to see her daughter’s caring nature and her innocence. She pampered her daughter and blessed her for this act of kindness and compassion. Rashida moved out as soon as her mom nodded to take medicines.
Suddenly Jasmine’s mother-in-law came from temple to home. So, after seeing all this she immediately went to the kitchen and asked Jasmine, “What happened? Is there any problem? Are you alright? Are you in your pink spirits of health? Are you fine? Rashida told me that she has given a few medicines to you.
My head is aching said Jasmine to her mother-in-law. Jasmine’s voice was very low she could even utter a word due to this pain.
Go and take rest. Just have a nap, said mother in law to Jasmine. I will prepare the food. Don’t take tension about this.
Jasmine said, “But dear mom, you prepared the food in the morning only”. Let me prepare the food this time.
So, what! I will prepare it to gain, it is not such a huge task and if in any case, I need help I will call John. Don’t worry about this. Go! Jasmine goes to her room and takes some rest. Her mother-in-law started picking up vegetables from the basket and started chopping them. Jasmine took a deep breath and was so relieved after hearing this that after all, she could take rest. She remembered while lying on the bed that at her maternal her mother asks her sister-in-law to make food even if she is suffering from fever or pain she was forced to make food. Her mother-in-law is far better than her mom. He was thinking all this when her mother-in-law knocked the room and came inside. She had prepared tea for Jasmine with some masalas and herbs that would cure her headache. She offered tea to Jasmine. While offering a cup of tea her mother-in-law said to Jasmine, “If in any case you are having any issue regarding your health or other things just tell me. I will be always there for you.”
Jasmine nodded after hearing all this from her mother. Her eyes were filled with tears and she cannot control her tears. There were the tears of compassion and kindness of her mother-in-law.
Mother-in-law got worried and asked Jasmine, “What happened?” Are you missing your mom and your home?
No Mom. I was just thinking that why not all mothers-in-law are like you. You are too kind and loveable. Your heart is so soft and you are too caring that no one can ever imagine.
My dear daughter listens, “I am a mom first then your mother-in-law. And before any mom, I am a woman first and therefore I understand all your pain and happiness. I will share all the happy and sad moments with you because I am your mother.
Mother-in-law put her hand on the head of Jasmine and gave her blessing and told her to take rest. Go and sleep for some time my daughter said her mother-in-law to her mother.
Jasmine kept talking with her mother until she falls to sleep. This was her best sleep ever.
I was just sitting idle thinking about my next story. I was playing with my pen in my hand, thinking about the creative process that should have started in my head. I had just finished a story I wrote in various parts, for which I took around 3 months to write. ‘It is like too much!’ I told to myself but I’m not sure if I am pressurising myself. As on the other side, I feel that I should give myself a break, read something, observe the world. I also went to a week-long trip to a hill-station with my family. Still. I wonder, didn’t any sort of lightning struck in me. But why? Has the soul of writing in me diminished with time? What is wrong with me?
As I sit on the chair and think about the idea or the lightning, I should say, my mind went back to that day I wrote my first story about an incident in school. That was a childish one. After that I continued writing more on a piece of paper, creating an unrealistic adventure. I have lost those scripts now, though but that was how I begin with this idea. After that as well I wrote three more stories in the same manner- creating some grave incident revolving around certain people and how things get better in the end. I don’t look at them now for I feel sheepish now for generating those ideas. It is like Facebook reminding you of something you posted years back and you were like- ‘I was such a dumbo.’
Then days passed and I was in class 12, the final year of school and around Board exams I had broke up with this junior of mine as he was not the ‘ideal best friend,’ and this idea of best friend came in as he was my crush- one of them. He also became a part of my stories, as I joined this site wherein I had to concoct stories, he was either Vivaan or Ashish in them. Come on, you know these things as I discussed all of my ‘encounters’ with him.
I feel thankful enough to be in a girls’ college now so that I focus on myself- my studies and my career and yes, of course learning to express myself through these literary pieces. Like in school, I do not have a squad but I know a lot of people amongst my batch mates. Why does it happen with me that I remain ‘forever-alone’? Even I am not in touch with many from school mates but they do meet each other as I scroll my Facebook and Instagram feeds. One thing I am happy about is, I have a family, which cares for me though I lose my patience with them but they never leave my side.
Now I have been applying for internships which are so vital for a job but I am hardly getting any response out of it. So I just watch and also dream of binge-watching TVF web-series and TV series on Internet. And thinking about that lightning which should have struck but the story still remains the same, as only nothingness remains.
The story is about a girl, Kiara. She was brought up listening to fairy tales but very soon did she realize that nothing mystical of that sort exists in her real world. The story is about child abuse, a sensitive issue to talk about. But when are we going to shatter the silence?
Flipping through the pages of Kiara’s childhood album, her mother said, “I miss the little baby you were back then. How I wished you had never grown up! You were my cute little angel who would make anyone fall in love with you.” Kiara who was twenty three now, smiled back at her mum and replied, “Yes, your baby who was wrapped up in the rose petals and dropped into your arms.”
Out of all the lies that her parents had told her as a child, this was her favorite. But as she grew up, she wondered why did the angels take the pain of wrapping her up in the rose petals when ultimately they had to throw her to the pack of wolves, ready to devour her.
Kiara was born to a well to do family. Being the only child, her parents took care of all her tantrums happily. The chirpy little girl with her curly locks and plumpy cheeks had been the apple of everyone’s eye. She had a mystical amusing land of her own. In order to shield her precious little mind from the horrible truths of the world, her parents too had build up a mystical castle for her. ‘She’ll have plenty of time to grow up into an adult later.’, they had thought. But her castle was pulled down a bit too early. Before she could pull up her armour, she had been attacked.
While her father was toiling hard to give her the finest luxuries of life and her mother cooking her favorite dishes, Kiara was struggling hard each day to free herself from the clutch of a monster. Yes, a monster! A neighborhood boy, much older to her of whom she was so fond of had started to prey upon her. Wait! Did I just say that she was struggling hard to free herself? How can one expect a six year old child to understand what was going on with her. “This is just a game.”, he kept telling her constantly.
During the evening hours, the children of her locality would gather near park situated adjacent to her house. Kiara too had a bunch of friends, mostly boys. She had been more fond of the outdoor games than sitting back at home, playing with her dolls. Hide and seek was her all time favorite. But she was hardly seven when she started hiding from the almost every person she knew. This was not a game anymore. She was veiling herself from the monster who came looking for her each time.
The very first time, he had laid his hands upon her, she had run to her mother, with tears in her eyes.
“what’s wrong? Did you fall down?” Her heart pulsating, the only word she could utter was ‘yes’. “It’s okay baby.”, her mother had said. But no, it was certainly not okay with the baby! The child reached out for help only once but she failed to give words to her emotions even then.
She was being abused every now and then. Initially it was just a physical abuse but very soon it had turned into a mental abuse too. For a good child, it is often very difficult to disobey a person elder to her. That’s what our parents teach us. Isn’t it? But why don’t they teach us to differentiate between the just and the unjust?
Whenever kiara fell down, she had run to her daddy with her bruised arms and bleeding knees. He would pick her up in his arms and cast a spell over her wounds. His spells were more effective than any ointment ever made. But this time, it was her heart that was bleeding. Her soul was soiled.
Her mother would read out the fairy tales to her every night. And she wondered if the fairies had lost their way this time. No one came to her rescue. Not even the ‘Shaktimaan’ who would go about saving people from the devils. She had started to realize the malarky she had been fed upon all these years. Her parents too had the quasi-nanny cam designed to keep her in checks. “be a good child. Santa is watching.” She tossed and turned, agonizing whole night but no Santa, no fairy seemed to appear.
The chirpy, bubbly girl was now sinking deep into the quagmire of pain and betrayal. She preferred to stay at home. She skipped the hours of her playtime when she was supposed to step out of her home. She feared interacting with people. She hated the game of hide and seek where the monster came searching for her, find her all alone and pry upon her. A terrible foundation was being established in the early stages of her life on which she had to build all her later relationships.
A few years later, the boy moved away to pursue his higher studies. He was admitted to one of the most prestigious universities of the country.
That had come as a relief to Kiara. And the next year, Kiara too had moved to her new house with her family. She had a new life awaiting for her. But no matter how hard she tried to escape from her past, it continued to cast its shadow upon her. Years later, she was still suffering from the post traumatic stress disorder. In her sleep, she still could still feel the icy fingers gripping her arms.
But as she grew up, she started to understand more of what had happened to her back then. She would cry to her own self. But now she did not want to be ashamed of the bitter truth of her past. It wasn’t her fault after all. As a child, she could never reach out for help. She feared being misunderstood. She was lack of words too. But she was the only one who could now work upon the damaged psyche of the child within her. She had now decided to SHATTER THE SILENCE.
She spoke it out to her mother one day. But all she got to hear was, “You need to let it go. That was just a past.” But that’s exactly what Kiara had been echoing in her mind for the past so many years. “Let it go!” But is their any antedote which could erase that part of her memory? So, how could she let it go?
She tried speaking it out many a times but she knew she would gain nothing more than the surprisingly lackadaisical response from people. So, why did she choose to embarrass herself? Because years later, now she had realized that she has to be the armor for many other children who have got no one save them from the pack of wolves.
People who have been subjected to any kind of abuse during the initial days of their lives are more likely to suffer from post traumatic stress disorder. It’s not about what might happen. It’s all about what had happened in the past. The things that had broken her from within had already happened. Kiara still had difficult times trusting others since the relationship with the perpetrator was based on deception and lies.
Time heals everything. Nay? But the scars stay forever. Parents must understand that their children should be given a healthy dose of fantasy. Teach your child that no fairy will appear with her magical wand to fix things in their life. Let’s offer our children something better than gambling now. Be a good child but learn to stand up for your own self. It’s important for every child to learn the difference between a good touch and bad one.
Let us be an angel for every kiara who no more believes in fairy tales. Dear adults, let’s grow up now!
An inspirational journey of a man who could not walk, talk or move, but his working mind changed it all.
“Quiet people have the loudest minds.”
The man behind the above quote completely justifies what a quiet person can do. Stephen William Hawking, a name who has brought revolution in the world of Science is a true inspiration for the world.
He came to life on the 300th death anniversary of Galileo i.e. 8th of January 1942 in the country who ruled India for years, England. He was a part of a scholar family who attended the prestigious University of Oxford where his mother Isobel Hawking studied philosophy and His father Frank Hawking was into medicine. He was grown up in an environment where a research scientist was a casual thing to be.
Little Stephen was never a topper in school. He did his college from renowned Oxford and Cambridge University.
He had a quality number of friends and preferred Classical music over everything. Being a sharp mind since childhood, he used to create complex board games. He had a deep passion to study Mathematics but unavailability of the course at the Oxford University made him take Physics and further went on to study Cosmology.
A great man in making was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Motor Neuron Disease) at an early age of 21, when he was about to finish his Physics degree at Oxford. He used to bump into things, fall unintentionally and became cumbersome. The disease affected his nerve cells and his body slowly wasted away. Doctors never expected him to live long enough to complete his Post graduation.
Dejected and depressed by his situation, Stephen fell in love with a girl named, Jane who gave her something to live for. They soon got married and Stephen worked on Physics inventing the idea of space-time singularity in a black hole. Stephen soon lost his ability to walk and was diagnosed with pneumonia. He had to undergo a severe operation where his voice was removed and 24 hours nurse care became a must. He was on a life support system that time, but his will to never give up brought him back to life.
His slurry voice was no longer with him and he found it difficult to communicate.
Software named Equaliser was brought up by a computer expert Walt Woltosz. This program allowed a person to select words from a series, controlled by hand or eye movement.Later, David Mason fiited a synthesizer and computer to Stephen’s chair giving him a voice with American accent.
“A brief History of Time” is an international best seller on Physics and his theories. His genius mind and work have won in numerous award and honours. He has a mind of a genius and calculations are a simple work for his mind.
At an age of 73, Stephen has become an inspiration for everybody. He has accomplished his unique dreams being dependent on prosthesis, a synthesiser or a computer system. He is a living example of what a man can do with his mind. Comparison to Albert Einstein is the best compliment he could ever receive for his singularity theorems. Although he cannot walk, cannot talk but in his mind he has been free.
“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Never give up work. Work gives you meaning and purpose and life is empty without it. If you are lucky enough to find love, remember it is there and don’t throw it away.”
It is about Shah Rukh Khan. What other reason do we need to read it?
“I AM A GREAT, FANTASTIC ACCIDENT OF BEING THE RIGHT PERSON, AT THE RIGHT PLACE, AT THE RIGHT TIME. THAT’S THE DESCRIPTION OF MY SUCCESS.” – SHAH RUKH KHAN
We know them as the Pathans, a corruption of the word ‘Pakhtun’ perpetuated by the English. Shah Rukh was born to two beautiful people, Meer Taj Mohammad and Latif Fatima. Meer Taj Mohammad, a handsome, tall man stepped out of his mansion in Peshawar, at the age of 16, for a 942 km walk to Delhi. There was nothing that could stop him from being a lawyer. Shahrukh describes his father as an idealist, a well-read and well-educated man who could speak six languages- Persian, Sanskrit, Pushtu, Punjabi, Hindi, English.
Now, it’s really intriguing that the initial years of Meer Taj Mohammed in Delhi, were spent in a girl’s college studying law. How charming must he have been that he convinced the principal to no just give him a seat in the college but also a room in the hostel. What is absurd is that he left his home and family behind only to pursue a career in law even though he had a family business waiting just for him to ripe and become a man, big enough to make decisions. Was it passion? That drove him to move away and go after what he aspired?
This quality is distinctively seen in Shahrukh Khan, as there is nothing that drives him forward more than passion. It is not known exactly when Meer Taj joined the Khudhai Khidmatgar ( Servants of God) organisation of Frontier Gandhi, but shahrukh believes he was among the youngest freedom fighters to join.
During the partition of India-Pakistan, few of the members of this organisation stayed here, in India whereas the rest retreated to develop the newly-formed Pakistan. He met Fatima, a 16 year old girl who he would eventually marry in the late 1960’s. The dream of becoming a lawyer looked far-fetched now, with all the trouble with the partition and the politics.
Meer Taj Mohammed and Latif Fatima
The story about how Shahrukh’s parents met? It is the most fascinating one. Meer Taj Mohammad, with a friend found a car overturned on the road with a severely bleeding young girl in it. He rushed her to the hospital and due to heavy blood loss, she needed a blood transfusion.
Surprisingly, Meer Taj’s blood group matched hers’ and no, that wasn’t the end of his blood donations. A call came in, informing that Fatima’s mother had had a miscarriage and needed blood, and Meer Taj being a gentle giant, flew all the way from Delhi to Bangalore to donate blood again. He was a part of their family now. He asked for Fatima’s hand in marriage and they were gifted with two beautiful children.
Shehnaaz Lala Rukh, November 6 1960 and Shah Rukh, November 2 1965. Because of Meer Taj’s sheer honesty, the transport business was resulting in a loss.
With the allotment of open spaces around the World Trade Centre, Meer Taj persuaded the officials to grant him a small open space to start up a tea stall.
“My dad taught me that in the long run, honesty always pays.” – Shahrukh Khan.
Meer Taj was diagnosed with cancer, but the hope within the family members did not die. But as time passed by, they soon realised that this would be his last battle.
Shah Rukh was 15 when his father died.
It was his mother, Fatima who introduced Shah Rukh to the Hindi Cinema.
The most amusing thing about Shah Rukh is that he was very bad at Hindi. He would get around 1-2 marks on 10. Fatima would bribe him by saying that she would take him for a film every time he scored a 10/10. Shah Rukh topped in Hindi then onwards. His first film was, Dev Anand’s Joshilaa. It was his mother who insisted him on taking the admission for masters in filmmaking at NSD.

He had been exceptional at studies in school and had won numerous awards which he figured would give him a direct entry into the best college in Delhi, but turns out the principal didn’t give a second look at the certificates and was even harsh towards him.
He then decided that he would have to make the best of what he was offered and took admission in the first college that he was accepted into, Hans Raj College, Delhi University. As well as being good at studies, he was great at playing football, cricket and hockey but had to stop because of his severe back injury.
Shahrukh laid his eyes on Gauri, at a friend’s party in the year 1984, when he was only 18 years old. He, being a shy guy didn’t have the courage to walk up to her and ask her for a dance.
Later that night, he gathers all the courage he has and asks her where she turns down his offer because she wasn’t interested in him. That was the beginning of their lives together. Gauri soon fell for his wit, confidence and style but then, Shah Rukh, being possessive by nature started being very controlling which made Gauri take a break from this relationship and she decided to disappear from his life without telling him.
She’d decided to head towards Bombay. By 1990, Shah Rukh was dividing his time between Bombay and Delhi. When he approached his mother with his thought of getting married to her, she didn’t oppose him or even ask any questions. She put Rs 10,000 in his hands and asked him to go and get his love back home.
By this time, he had been approached by multiple TV projects. His first being Fauji.
Before he was approached for any show, he would borrow money from friends’ and travel up and down to the film city and audition, till his luck struck. He was spending a lot of time in Bombay for his second television series, Circus when he’d got a call from a friend having bad news.
His mother had fallen sick, a wound in her foot wasn’t healing and she’d been admitted to a near-by run-down hospital. Shahrukh rushed back home and immediately shifted her to Holy Family Hospital. He had to rush back to fulfil his major commitments and because he needed money for his mother’s treatment.
The doctor’s had told that her condition had become worse because of her diabetic condition and she had slipped into a coma and Shah Rukh had resigned himself of her fate and remained by her bed side for almost two months, without sleep, food, rest.
One day, when he goes out to buy medicines, Fatima passes away leaving him and his sister alone in this big world.
His sister, Shehnaz goes into depression and he stands up and takes charge to take care of his elder sister.
Gauri and Shah Rukh got married in 1991.
“And the closest you can come to being content is when you die. People say the only cure for life is death. Maybe, at the moment that one second, when all worries leave your mind, you die. I kept giving my mother a lot of worries, so she couldn’t die. I kept pleading, ‘Please don’t go’.” – SRK
It was never easy for him to make big in this industry. Not having any family background in the industry, he had really worked hard to make it big. His first Tele Series, Fauji had made him a heartthrob in the masses. This kick started his career in Bollywood. His life wasn’t always a bed of roses.
Most of the beginning of his careers was a total downhill. After the death of his mother, he wanted to pursue a full-time career in the film industry and so he came down to Bombay. He had been approached for four films, the first being Hema Malini’s directorial debut- Dil Aashna Hai.
The movie that kick started his career was Deewana, in which he played the second male lead. The audiences loved it. Shah Rukh Khan, the actor, had made it.
“The first day after pack-up, I was quite crushed. I felt I was the worst actor on earth. I kept thinking that maybe I was not cut out for this.” – SRK
Shah Rukh started the year 1993 with the release of Darr, in which he portrayed the role of an obsessive lover and a murderer in Baazigar, which both turned out to be great hit. He was acclaimed for his villainous roles. He brought in the trend of the Anti-hero.
The movies that turned out to be a big shot movie for him were actually the turndowns by other stars like Armaan Kohli, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan.
Darr marked one of the first movies signed by Shah Rukh with film maker Yash Chopra, which lead to endless movies but everything is time bound and then, it had all come down to one last movie, Jab Tak Hai Jaan.
Shah Rukh came back into the industry as a romantic hero which turned out to be his personal best genre. His biggest hit, being Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge till date. All of it seemed like a fairy tale but everything has its’ perks.
Life had become so hectic and Gauri, even after they both had married each other, there was no acceptance from Gauri’s family side, the issue being their different religions.
He would work for hours on the sets and then rush back to Gauri’s house to find ways to soften her parents. For his roles, even though he received a great amount of appreciation, he was also criticised based upon his acting skills. Even though they were poor, he worked hard, made sure he was good enough so that people couldn’t point out flaws that he couldn’t substantiate. Through the hardships, Shah Rukh Khan has conquered the world with his immense acting skills and powerful will.
SRK With His Family
“I saw my parents going through it. After I lost my dad at an early age, I equated poverty to failure. I just didn’t want to be poor. I signed films for the fear of poverty more than creative desire. Most of my initial films were discards of other actors.” – SRK
This is a true story about how an acid attack victim has survived inspite of all the tough times she had to go through and how she eventually has found a reason to live. She chose to fight unlike other victims like her who were discouraged by families or were reluctant to come out of their homes.
Laxmi was going to the Mehrotra Book Depot. It was a part of her routine. She sold books there at the book shop. She had to work hard apart from studying for her school exams too. The target of selling at least thirty books every evening was a challenge for her. She had never reached her target. It would be always a twenty eight or twenty nine. But never a thirty. Laxmi had made up her mind to do her best that day.
Probably, Mehrotraji would then give her a bonus and then she would be able to get herself her favourite set of bangles she saw some day at a nearby shop. Laxmi left for work early that day. Her mother had fed her with fresh chapatis and onion that day. She was happy and excited about reaching her target that day.
She reached the Ring road and there he was standing on the opposite side of the road, as usual. She had not expected him to be there that day as she was leaving early for her work. She pretended as if she didn't notice him. Her pace got faster than ever. She tried to get into the market crowd and covered her head with her dupatta. Everything seemed useless. She heard a screeching sound of his voice.
"Arrey madam! Yeah, you the red dupatta one! Please listen to my heart and soul, madamji! At least give me your number!"
Laxmi didn't turn back. She knew that it was that creepy guy who always was there on the opposite side of the road and tormented her daily. It had been a month since she had been trying to escape from him. He was too much to handle. Laxmi tried to ignore her always. Things had gone out of her hands when she was shocked to see him standing in front of her in the crowd. He looked scary.
The paan he was chewing was oozing out from the sides of his lips and the dirty greasy shirt he was wearing was speaking out aloud that he was some kind of mechanic who worked on automobile repair. The spanners and the wrench that were coming out of his torn trousers were enough to give information about him.
Laxmi stood still among the infinite people resembling a thousand houseflies feeding on garbage and excreta in the crowd. As still as a dead corpse. He came to her. Not a single man or woman came out of the crowd to help her. Each damn housefly was busy. He was like some scavenger hunting for the best left overs from the crowd, standing only half a metre away from her. Laxmi moved back.
"Arrey madamji! Don't be afraid! I will not do anything. I love you since the day I saw you in that green saaree. Will you marry me some day? Why not just roam around for some days with you?"
"Obviously no! Please let me go."
Laxmi hurriedly left that marketplace and reached the service road. It was now only a ten minutes walk from there to the shop. She felt somewhat relieved after leaving that place. But some peculiar noise was still haunting her. Footsteps were approaching nearer and nearer. Laxmi felt as if someone had tapped on her shoulder and she turned back.
" How can you talk like that to me? Remember that you are a girl after all!"
He ran away from that place. Like a frightened mouse. The liquid felt cold for some time on her face. It was a very hot day. The scorching heat of the sun was too less for her to bear until she had experienced the burning sensation of acid that day. That man had splashed her face and neck with acid. Laxmi could feel her face melting away like an Icecream. She couldn't even touch her face. She wailed as she sat on the side of the road hoping for someone to help her. The numerous vehicles on the road and the countless office goers, teachers, labourers were busy with their lives. Nobody came forward to help her. Soon she felt unconscious and couldn't see a thing. The acid had gone deep into her eyes and had taken away from her the power to look at the colours of the world forever. It had blinded her and she was hit by passing vehicles on the road. There she was on the road with nobody to look at her.
She gained her conscious when she was lying on her bed and she was surrounded by some doctors and her family members. The white walls if the hospital seemed unfamiliar to her. She saw her mother weeping constantly. A number of questions were running through her mind.
How will I go to school now? Who will want to be with me? How will I become a TV anchor now? Who will marry me? Was there any mistake in rejecting that creepy guy? Why should I even trust men? How will my family members go through all this? Why should I live now?
That is how a typical fifteen year old girl would think about her life after an acid attack. Laxmi was heartbroken. She felt like she had failed everything in her life. Nothing was there left for her to think about. She was afraid of looking into the mirror again. It seemed as if the acid had fed on her flesh with a lot of lust. Her eyeballs were popping out of her skull. She was blinded forever. All she could feel was an intense feeling of hatred for men.
But things had changed for her because God helps those who help themselves.

Lady Gaga born on the 28th of March, 1986 as Stefani Germanotta. This New York-based singer was a hit maker right from the start. The would be singer described herself as a provocative in his youth period and she was a target for oppressors during her high school because of her unusual appearance and behaviour. Her friends remember her as a star right from the start, singing as one of her major passions even as a youth.
Gaga's family lived in New York's exclusive upper eastern side, but they were very far from wealthy.
As they both were professionals, so they were out of the house for much of her early life. Gaga left alone with plenty of time for herself to style her hair, creative wicked outfits and f course the most important to sing. Germanotta was a hit at open mike nights from her 14th birthday onwards, putting her promising piano skills to the test.
After a brief time at art school, Germanotta dropped out the school and felt that she was more able than most of her classmates and that the school’s schedule was holding her back.
So he asked her father to give her money to cover her rent for a year and promised that if her music career never moved up, she would move straight back to home and attend art school again as a backup plan.
But of course she did not need a backup plan. Her singing styles and abilities immediately attracted attention from Def Jam representatives, and Lady Gaga was signed to the label in 2006.
But after arguments over her music direction, she was dropped from the level and left on her own again. But she taken it as a challenge and wrote music again, and then a contact passed it on to executives at Streamline, a subsidiary of Interscope Records.
Once again, Gaga had an opportunity, and this time she decided to waste it. She spent her next year writing songs for other artists at the company until the well known R&B singer Akon saw great potential in her when she was called in to perform as a reference singer.
Akon immediately signed her to produce her album and insisted that she partner with some of his close friends.
Those friends happened to be Red One, famed producer and a key aspect of Gaga's sound. Gaga own discography of tracks grew, and on 2008, Gaga burst onto the scene with her hit 'Just Dance’. An attractive dance-pop song, it was followed with a number of other singles, and her praised follow up album The Fame: Monster.
Lady Gaga continues to be strength in the music industry, having sold a combined ninety-million singles and albums over the past four years.
Her journey began from her humble searching for a musical outlet and now she reached to the top of the world's biggest pop charts and the stages of the world's biggest arenas, this pop star, in spite of her strange image, built her success on hard work, hustle, and a belief in her own vision.
Quentin Tarantino was born on March 27th, 1963, in the city of Knoxville, Tennessee. His upbringing was relatively simple and straightforward. He was born to a musician father and a strong, independent mother. He had to quickly relocate himself to California after his parents separated early in his life.
From the age of two onwards, he spent his early life in the suburbs of Los Angeles.
He was greatly fascinated by cinema at an early age, so he dropped out of high school at age fifteen to make an acting career. He started taking classes during daytime and watching classic movies by night. While he was struggling to survive, he got his first job as an employee at the Video Archives rental store near his home. It resulted in one of the most creative film consumption periods of any person working in Hollywood today.
During his career at the Video Archives, Tarantino watched thousands of films and built a immense knowledge of cinema and also formed his creative yet homage-filled style at the same time. From western flicks and historical movies to kung fu, Tarantino's knowledge of cinema became an important aspect of his style, influencing stories and designs in his future creations.
Tarantino meet his future collaborator Lawrence Bender at a party and after it he started writing his first screenplay.
His first immediate success was The mega-violent and street-smart Reservoir Dogs and it’s also bringing in over ten times his modest budget. This film was financed by an actor Harvey Keitel, who would then become one of the most valued recurring cast members of Tarantino.
When people ask me if I went to film school I tell them, 'no, I went to films.'
– Quentin Jerome Tarantino
Although Reservoir Dogs received the critical acclaim, but Tarantino wanted more and he set out to make a movie that would clearly define him as a director. After two years, his second film, Pulp Fiction, was released to universal acclaim. The film was a huge financial success and established Tarantino as a new Hollywood filmmaker that combined style with meaningful story.
After it many film hit but no one like the Pulp Fiction.
A partnership with cult favourite director Robert Rodriguez resulted in From Dusk Till Dawn, a bizarre vampire movie that wasn't a hit amongst critics. Soon Tarantino received critical acclaim once again for his first non-original script, the hit blaxploitation homage Jackie Brown, which reignited the career of former star Pam Grier.
From a struggler to on top of the world, Tarantino spent the more recent years of his career on the film projects that he was most interested in. He made a two part series based on the character of 'The Bride', a revenge-seeking bride which he invented with Uma Thurman while directing Pulp Fiction.
Later he created what be the world’s best revenge film, the hilarious and somewhat disturbing Inglourious Basterds, a bizarre take on World War II.
He also spent his time to helping international directors gain exposure in the United States, using his name and reputation to release a range of independent releases in major cinema chains.
With a career that's produced both critical acclaim and commercial success, Quentin Tarantino is a rare ambassador of both artistic integrity and bankable skills in the film industry.
An ambitious self-educator, his success isn't the result of advanced training or an extensive education, but a desire and motivation to succeed that pushed him past his peers.
