I was interrupted by a manly voice. The he is standing Eros on the door .

“Can you please stop this bullshit ” said Eros in a harsh voice.

“What? What are you talking?” I asked him

Go and talk to mom. And for god sake stop this annoying adoption. ” said Eros and slammed the door behind him.

“What did he just said, he don’t want me as sister? Why don’t he go to mommy and have a word directly? ” I thought.

  • The gift of life- (III)

    The gift of life- (III)

Its about how friendship is important in one’s life and how great friends a girl and a guy could be.

Running through my memories, those days were happy and wonderful when I had Aadhi with me. I really can not forget that one day-out with him where we became so close ever after our meeting at the party.

The week after the party was good with a few little talks with Aadhi during the tea breaks. He asked me if I could join him on a day-out with him that weekend. I thought for a while, yet I agreed. It was the very first time I was hanging out with a guy friend of mine. We planned to take a long travel together so that we would have a lot of time to talk and took his car, headed towards Vellore’s Golden temple. On our way, we conversed a lot about each other’s college life and other funny experiences.

The temple was known for its excellent environment that gave us fruitful peace of mind. We had a nice time visiting the temple where I took photographs of him in different postures. He wondered at my skill of photography and appreciated me. We walked together while he kept commenting about my various habits. I wondered how much he had observed about me in these few days and especially in this trip. He suggested few changes in my dressing styles so that I looked even greater. I had told him that my ex had left me with my beauty as one of the reasons. Aadhi had remembered that and hence suggested me some changes so that I become pretty enough to make my ex jealous of my beauty.

We went to a hotel for the lunch where we came to know about each other’s tastes and food habits. Drowned in our conversation, I got the food struck in the middle way inside my throat. I struggled hard to get it ok while he held a glass of water to me immediately as I coughed. I felt pleased at the way he cared for me without my words. He respected my feelings more than I deserve.

On our way back, he stopped the car at times to refresh ourselves from the tiresome journey. He cared about my comfort with the car, played melodious music, those songs that I had always loved. Even with that, we found our tastes to be similar and that’s how we never quarreled with each other. I felt he was a good person sent into my life just to make me forget my bitter past and have a happy life.

Days at the office were even happy after this day-out with him. We started being frank to each other, to utter our problems with the project so that we found a solution together. Previously we had been fighting at the office only because of our innocence. We had been blindly arguing without hearing the other’s point and now things have changed.

Fortunately, this relationship of ours gave us happiness in all the possible ways. Since we worked together better, we got promoted together for our performances at the office. After promotion, our management arranged meetings at various places of the state and that gave us more chances of having official day-outs together. Life was better then.

Once, Aadhi suffered illness and took leave from the office. That day felt so blank without him and I struggled to pass the day on. At the evening, I reached out to him over phone while he said he was getting better. But the next day, he did not come to the office. I could not tolerate his absence and took leave. I reached out to his home. That was the first time I went to his home and then I understood how lonely he had been just like me. I came to know that he was taking his own medications without visiting the doctor and I scolded him for being so careless. I drove him in his car to the nearby hospital and got him back to home. I made him soups and a simple meal, gave him medicines and cared for him till late evening. He thanked him for taking so much care and then I left to my home. This repeated the next day just as I directly went to his home as I had taken leave for both of us that day. Then it was the weekend. Aadhi got better with his rests and my care. That was the time I had been searching for a new home and hence Aadhi suggested me the one just opposite to his flat in the apartment thus breaking the loneliness of both of us.

Life became better since we were no more lonely. At times, we used to spend the days together at either of the one’s home caring for each other in the best way possible. We respected our feelings and we never had a serious argument. We used to fight childishly for funny things and that made a happier bonding.

I had always felt that he was a gift of my life and he too expressed the same towards me.

A TRUE FRIEND CAN CARE AND LOVE MORE THAN A LOVER.

  • Love & it’s Heartbreak

    Love & it’s Heartbreak

Love is the best feeling anyone can experience specially when it’s your first love but what about the heartbreak and pain that comes along with it.

    Dear dairy,

Where shall I start? I wish I was a poet to express my feelings as it is,how I feel about him at my heart. It’s been a year now that I’m in love with him yet i cannot muster up the courage to tell him that. I don’t know why but when it’s about him the words don’t come easily like I wished they would. you know, there are three little words those eight letters that hold so much significance, the words that I associate with him completely, the phrase that I’m so tempted to tell him but am too scared to because I’m afraid that it might scare him off, it might ruin our friendship.

Only once in your life, I truly believe, you find someone who can completely turn your world around. You tell them things that you’ve never shared with another soul. You share hopes for the future, dreams that will never come true, goals that were never achieved and the many disappointments life has thrown at you. That one person means the world to you. For me that one person has always been him.

They sat all the emotions which have been gifted to us by the God are an outcome mixture of love..love is weird yet beautiful it’s just the craziest emotion anyone can ever experience and I am in love with him sweetie.

He is just so amazing not only his body it’s the way he thinks. The way he frames the sentences make him admirable, for he never abuses or uses negative words. I don’t know whether he seems a thing like perfection to anybody else but for me he is perfect. He is kind of guy every girl would desire.

Oh god! I lost the track of time again. Mummy will be back from her work soon i need to rush.

    Signing off for today sweetie,

    Goodbye.

    Hey sweetie,

I’m back again but this time I’m not going to write about how much i love him or how i hope that he is in love with me too, this time it’s about how it feels when you get your heart broken. Yes i lost my first love and you know what’s the worst? I still love him. Even after knowing that his heart belongs to someone else i still can,t stop loving him. I still think of how much i loved talking to him. I still feel those butterflies in the pit of my stomach when he smiles at me. I still replay the peices of our conversation where we laughed at something funny he said or did i still wish he was mine. Everything’s just

the same expect for the fact that all of these things hurt me now.

I guess that’s the thing with first love sweetie. you can never forget them they are the only one who get your whole untouched heart. They are the ones who get all the love you have stored and they get to keep it forever.

I don’t know what the future holds for us I don’t know whether i will fall for someone or not but i know he will always hold a special place in my heart.

    Signing off again,

    Goodbye sweetie

She is actually my heart. “- Imam was actually happy and that beautiful smile on his face while describing his heart out was rather more beautiful to feel rather than to feel it.

IMAM GAVE THE COMPLETE DETAIL WHEN HE MET HIS INSPIRATION FOR HIS BOOK,GUZARISH .

BEGINNING OF HIS STORY(ACTUALLY HIS LIFE,WHICH IS REALTED TO HIS STORY)

    LUCKNOW – 5 Years ago

“Ammi, I have to go. Thats what my work is. Please don’t force me to stay here in Lucknow. Its nothing here . I have great ambitions.Try to understand.”- ME ,a 21 year old immature(According to my mother) yet ambitious boy, said.

” What ?What is their in Mumbai? Money ? Fame? For what are you running for. What is more precious for you? Your Ammi or your fame? Tell me ?- My mother,Soha Ahmed khan claimed ,for her , I was then a 14 year old silly immature boy.

“Ammi. You, Money and Fame all three are equally important for me. Ammi, wait ! lets do one thing. Come along with me . That would be amazing. “- I spoke with great jolie and excitement.

“Are you mad Imam. I.. I come along with you leaving our Pushtaini Hawaili ? Stop arguing with me.You want to go,go. I am not gonna come along with you to Mumbai.”- Ammi screamed brutely at me.

“Ammi , What is more important to you ? Me or this old place. Where you could only get criticism, to whatever you do ?Tell me “- I said this in a very serious tone.

Their was an awkward silence for a couple of minutes.

Next Day Me , and Ammi , took our train to Mumbai.

    ***

“My Ammi had always thought that these small jobs are useless. Jobs like,Script writer, Content writer are all for Language students. For her, an engineering student doing all this is a shame. According to her ,I should have pursued my career in B.Tech only. Probably , M.Tech or maybe something in computers. She had never got the fact how much i love to write. But now, When she sees me here sitting with all you lovely people and meeting all special and legendary people, she considers my decision was amazing.”- Imam said.

“Sir you are an inspiration to everyone.Your mother would be really happy to see that” -another reporter said.

“Yess she is really proud of me. Actually i have realised that before any success story , their is always a broken heart and some sad moments but then the brightness of the sun is extraordinary and the new morning is always happening and smiling.”- Imam said and then continued with his story of his success and his inspiration.

    ***

“Imam, when are you going to wake up ? You are already late for work. First day and no concentration for work. If you continue this attitude for your work i will take you back to .. “Ammi said so while coming to my room and warning me to wake up early for work.

“Ammi, Stop doing that again and again. I mean seriously, you are literally making my sleep as an excuse to go back to Lucknow. What is the whole use of explaining you important facts of being in Mumbai ? “- I felt a little exasperated of my mother’s continues attitude towards life in Mumbai and my job.

“Imam, sorry bacha. I did’t meant that. Now please don’t spoil your mood. I am sorry. I won’t say such things anymore. Promise. “-Ammi tried to convince me qith her emotional values.

“No no Ammi, please don’t say that. Ok lets do one thing.I’ll take you to my work today.First day, and you with me. It would be super amazing. C’mon. Get ready to see my workplace.”- I tried to lighten the emotional situation.

” Really can i come? What type of office is it , where anyone can come and go ? “- Ammi still had the same thoughts of going back to Lucknow.

“Ammi i am taking you their, does’nt mean anyone can come and go. Its an short film making institute for speciallyabled childen, where i am working as a scriptwriter. So i am taking you their so that you can meet those special people working in the films. Its truly going to be great fun.”- I tried to make my Ammi comfortable and happy that the place i am working is wonderful.

“Ohh Thats great, I’ll be ready in a few minutes. Till then have your breakfast. She served me with POHA With TEA for you. – Ammi got too excited to see my workplace.

    AT THE WORKPLACE-

“Hey Krish, how are you bro? Long time. – I said to my dearest friend and now my publisher,Krish Ahuja.

“Heyyy Imam,Dude. I had completely lost the hope that you will join the Institution. You had a word with Sanjay Sir?- Krish excited pulled me up with his bumpy heavy muscular body and punjabi fit.

Ammi was completely shocked to see how a boy can be so muscular and giant and who jumped on his little skinny ,yet a 14 year old boy.

“Yaah Allah! Carefully.-Ammi was’nt able to resist her emotions and broke out.

“Ohh .. Yeah. ! Who are you madam?-Krish dropped me down with immense force and strangly asked Ammi who she was.

“Brother, she is my Ammi.Ahh.. My Mother. She had came along with me to see my workplace. I bought her here.. and ..”-Krish is a person who never allows you to complete any sentence. He has this keeda in him, to speak excitedly, which comes out in every conversation with everyone. So he stopped me in between my sentence.

” Ohhhh myy Gooshh!! KHALA, perri-poana,(Greeting in punjabi, to touch elders feet). How are you? Have heard alot about you from Imam. He used to always say something about you. You know when i met Imam in Lucknow ,I literally asked him to take me at your HAWELI,but he refused and now i am finally meeting you.How you are? How are you feeling right now? You liked Mumbai? Oh,You work in a school for small children,Right?Oh god! Its like i know you from the day i saw Imam. You look exactly like Imam. Hahahha. So happy to see you. How are you?- Krish has this other problem of not stopping after starting to speak.Ammi was only looking at him without even blinking her eyes.

“Calm Down Beta, I am fine, but what is your problem ?,i mean why don’t you allow anyone to speak and don’t even listen to what others are say.Hav’nt you ever learned that speaking and listening is a very magical power. One should learn and grab them both together. “- Even Ammi was in full emotions.I mean, bacha try to learn such things its a good habit. She gave out her teacher in just one sentence.Krish was looking at Ammi,as if, he is a samll kid from Ammi’s school. And me,I looked blank.

“Wooow! Khala, you are the best. You just made me realise my mistake in a few minutes. You both would be having a great bonding .. i am pretty sure”-  Krish said with a complete smile on his face.

His last sentence just touched my Ammi’s heart ,And then… She has a great bonding with Krish too !

NOW I HAVE TO SHARE MY SWEETS WITH THE NEW MEMBER OF OUR HOUSE.

    ***

“Sir, How would you justify your love for the hindus ? I mean …”- A reporter asked.

“Do i really have to justify. I don’t really think that religion really matters. What matters is Respect for every one. If you’d ask me,Krish is not just my brother , he is My World. We had spend so many years together that i cannot even think of a day without him now.You know what, his wife had started doubting us ,but then he got an Angle. – Imam, laughed and said about his beautiful relation with Krish, his brother.

Everyone in the crowd laughed and then Imam continued with his story.

    ***

    AFTER A FEW DAYS.

“Ammi, i have to go a little early, we have a few more children in our institute.”- I said to Ammi, taking my car keys from the dinning table and moving forward towards the door.

“Wait, Take this box, I have made Briyani Specially for Krish. Make sure you give this to him. Also i have packed a little for you in this another box.”- Ammi handed over me the two boxes and hurriedly jumped into the kitchen to continue her work. I realised , my work started from 9AM in the morning and would end up at 6-7PM in the eveing, but hers is never ending.

I took the boxes and ran to the lobby and drove my car to the institute.

    AT THE WORKPLACE

“Krish, you mentioned about a few new children, where are they,?”-I searched for the children in the living area but could’nt find any new one.

“Yeah Yeah, the new ones. They are in the garden.Go meet them”-Krish replied while completing his record work.

I moved towards the garden. As soon as i moved forward, I started hearing some noises. I could guess their are a few children in the garden. And the moment i moved forward, i could only here one sound, which was probably near the main gate for the garden.

That particular sound in still groofing in my ears. It was HEENA ALI.

As i moved forward, the sound became louder.

The voice was so beautiful and pure, that i was’nt able to resist myself the move fastly and find who she was.

    I reached the gate.

    I looked for the voice.

It came exactly from behind the doors.

A girl was sitting their, holding a beautiful big rose .

As i saw her,i was stunned. She was the most beautiful girl i have ever seen in my entire life. She had big and beautiful eyes. Little pink lips and some little natural shine on it.

    She had curls on.

She wore a very light makeup. I did’nt know much about makeup but she had a flawless skin with pink cheeks.

I was just staring at her. She wore a beautiful sea green colored(Thats how girls mention that color)long dress with her head covered with a red hijab.

She was mummering some beautiful song.

I was still just staring her .

    Suddenly Krish came from behind.

“Imam, bro,You met the children or not? What are you doing”- Krish still had some documents in his hand. He was wrapping the papers and putting them in his pockets.

    and me,

I was still looking at her.

“Immmmmaaammm.. Brother, what happened? I am asking you something, what are.. “- Krish stopped in between and went through the way of my eyes.

“Heena Ali. A Social Worker,A Small Stage Singer. Owner of Khwaja NGO in Lahore. And The very famous Blind-Writer.Her Books are really famous… hmm “- Krish completed his sentence. My eyes had turned from Heena To Krish.

“What?? Now why are you looking at me. She had bought these children from Lahore. She says they want more activities to be involved with. And thinks this is the right platform. All thanks to you bro. She read all your blogs .. Diaries.. Quotes which you posted on our official site. Ohh Yeah… She even wanted to meet you. Come “-Krish completed his whole sentence in one go. I did’nt uttered a word.

Now I was still looking at her.

“Hello Heena. He is Imam ,My brother, my soulmate.. hahaha.  and our official writer. “-Krish introduced me to her.

I was still looking at her.

“Hello.”-She said. Her voice was immensely filled with joy and pleasure. She looked more prettier.

I was still looking at her.

She looked confused .. As she could’nt hear a “hello”back.

“Imam,Brother.. hehehe.. Sayyy Something”- Krish had a dual expressions on his face and his words. He literally pushed me,to wake me up.

“Yeaahh.  hi. Amm Hello. “- I said. I sounded like a 2 year old boy being introduced to his favorite Elder Relative or friend.A little dumb yet happy.

“I like what you write. I always get inspired from your work. Its not fancy yet Shining.”- Heena said.

I was still looking at her.

“Imam,is an amazing writer. I guess, its in the blood of Lucknow people.Right?Hahaha”- Krish said this because of no reason. He was still pushing me to speak and have conversation. As it was important for our institute to get in touch with them.

I was still looking at her.

“Heena, we’ll catch you in a minute. Please.”- Krish asked Heena to excuse us and grabbed me with both hands and took me inside.

“Yeah Sure please”- Heena said as Krish took me inside.

“What .. Why you bought me in? We had to converse with her right?”- I protested my hands and tried to move forward.

“Exactly. You had to talk to her.You need not only have to stare her, like a stupid fellow.”- Krish replied harshly.

“SHE IS BEAUTIFUL KRISH. VERY BEAUTIFUL”-I broke out what i had in mind.

“What, Wait, You started liking her?Ohh My God.My brother in love. Wohhoo. !!”-Krish showed his excitement and pulled me up.

“No no, are you mad bro? I don’t know about love ,its just i felt a little for her.I just wish , to make her happy all the time.I don’t know ,when i just saw her, i felt like being. “- I was happy. I was thinking about her. Suddenly Krish stopped me in between.

“Brother,She is beautiful both by heart and soul.Just go and talk to her.Its really important for you to do that. “-Krish very calmly suggested me and asked me to go and have a word with Heena.

“But what will i say?How will i react?I behaved so awkwardly right now.It was extremly weird and irritating for her ,i guess. “-I was worried for the way i reacted on the first meeting.

“No goooo! “- Krish insisted me to go,rather pushed me forward.

I saw her again after exactly 11 mins 5 seconds.

    She looked more beautiful.

She was playing with a kid who was physically handicaped.

I moved forward. My hands were shiverring.

I reached her.She was still playing with the kid.

I was still looking at her.

“Waqram,Go play with your other friends.I need to talk to Imam Sir.Go Carefully.”-Heena said with extreme confidence.I was completely astonished how she knew i was their.I had not even uttered a word.

I had other thoughts in mind.

    Has she started loving me?

Was she also thinking about me?

    I cleared my throat.Took a deep breath.Gained a little confidence to utter a word,but,she Said.

“Hello Sir,Tell me ,how it is to be scheduled. We have 4 girls and 7 boys. And all of them are really intelligents and … “-She said in one chorus. But i stopped her in between to ask the most curious question.

“Heena Wait, I mean.. How did you got to know i was here. I mean here when you were playing with that kid?”- I asked but was embaraced of what i was asking any why !!

    “Hahaha,Through my EYES.”-Heena said.

She left me confused and I looked strangely at her.

“What?Eyes. I mean.. “- I could’nt speak further.I did’nt had courage to judge anyone’s physical feature. I did’nt wanted her to feel annoyed about my mentallity,Though, i did’nt had anything in my mind.

“Yess.. My Eyes. My inner Eyes. Hahahha. Like Lord Shiva, Even i have a third eye.I was able to sense you.By the way, Your scent is amazing.”- She said in a very smooth and calm way.

I felt so happy about it. Not because she praised about my body odore but she mentioned about Lord Shiva. Atleast we had same thoughts unlike others.

We need not have to be confused why an ALLAH girl talking about RAM.

Let the hearts be secular please.

“Ohh.. Hahaha.. So tell me ? “-I said with full confidence for the first time while talking to her.

“Do you have any Guzarish?”-She said.

Guzarish. What type of Guzarish was she talking about? I was confused.

“Amm.. Guzarish? Do you have one?”-I asked her

“Yess. I have.I WANT TO SEE THE WORLD.”-She said.

She was confidently saying it. I felt she did’nt realised what she said.

“Heena , i like your confidence. I hope you don’t mind me calling you Heena?”-i said.

“Hahaha.. No not at all..Why would i mind. Thats what my name is!!”-She said with full confidence.

“Hahaha. yess. But I am sorry to say,how will you see the world? If you feel this queation is offending then please don’t reply.”-Again i did’nt wanted to make her feel awkward.

“I don’t know?I have no idea. All i want is,TO SEE THE WORLD,WHETHER THROUGH MY EYES OR SOMEONE ELSE.”-She said so.

The moment she said this,i got an idea of making her see the entire world, through my eyes.

I asked her to give this oppurtunity to me.And she smiled and said,”I don’t know”.

Ammi met her.She was happy meeting her. They had a long talk on how life is and everything. Ammi taught her ,her famous Lucknow style briyani. And she excelded in making it.

    It was Krish’s wedding .

We were excited about it. He was getting married to his beloved.

Me,I was attending my best friends wedding with my beloved being just a friend.

Ammi did’nt knew about my love for Heena. All she used to say was,”A pretty ,nice girl.Allah bless her with love and life.”

I used to feel ,i am here for love and she’ll be my life.

We had a great fun at Krish’s wedding. It was for the first time,Heena saw an Indian Wedding.

Yess! She saw the wedding.I made her see that.

I arranged a beautiful voice messages for her from everyone in the party.I described her how the decorations were done. How sweets were served to how people were grabbing them.Everything.

    She was Happy.

After the feraas she said,”Will you take me to see the world?”.I was shocked to listen what she said. I was madly happy.I had a broad smile on my face.My smile was endless.

    I said”Yess Off course,i would.Its an oppurtunity for me”.

    “Aww,Imam. ThankYou.”-She had tears.

    I could’nt see them.I wanted to tell her I LOVED HER.Loved her,from the day i saw her.

    She looked beautiful.

I was Still looking at her.

    AFTER COUPLE OF WEEKS

Me,Heena and the newly wedded couple were in Paris,France.

We saw,LA TOUR EIFFEL,NOTRE DAME DE PARIS,LES ALPES, et le monde.

J’ai visité les musseé avec Elle.(I had visited the museums with her) .

We had seen every single place she wanted to go.

    Pakistan-✔

    Kashmir-✔

    Paris-✔

    London-✔

    Dubai-✔

    Thailand-✔

    Spain-✔

    German-✔

    China-✔

    And My Heart-❓❓❓❓❓❓

It had a big question mark.

We had came really close to each other.I could understand everything related to her.We used to share everything with each other. All i wanted to share was my heart with her,Which she had not yet visited.

One day, finally,i decided to say to her.

    That I LOVE HER.

    My heart was pumping.

We were back at India. The very place from where it all started.

    I looked at her.

    She looked prettier.

I took her hands in my hands.

    Her expressions changed.

We had holded each others hands earlier also. But this time,it was different.

Probably it was the right way.

I said,”I wanted to say you something Heena,”Before i could say something more, she said,”Even i wanted to say something”.

I gave her the first chance. This time i was sure, she’ll say what she had in her heart about me.

“Thanks,Thanks for everything. The love you gave. The support you had shown me.The way you took my care.Everything.We had not just been friends. Its obviously above that.I know what you have in your heart, but that can’t be possible.”-she said.

I could’nt believe what she said. She clearly mentioned that their could be nothing between us.

I felt like crying .But i gained a little courage and asked her,”Why are you saying like that Heena.Yess I LOVE YOU. From the day i saw you.I don’t know about your love, but mine is deep and pure.”-I said.

“I know, but this…. this could not be possible… i mean.Yeah.. Even i feel about you. but. “-She stummered in her words. She wanted to say something but did’nt said that.

    All she said was.

“I have one GUZARISH,Which i cannot wish to be fulfilled”!!

I did’nt question her much.I did’nt wanted to disturb her from inside.

All i said was,”Take your time and think about it”.

    ***

“But she did’nt had much time to think of it.

    Heena was suffering from CANCER.

She was at her last stage.

I got to know about this, when she left India, with a letter for me.

The letter said((,”My last GUZARISH is to be with you.But.. “!!)).

It was her last word with me. She left me with a doubt, and my last GUZARISH,

TO BE WITH HER”-Imam sir said and ended his story of life with a smile and A ThankYou.

Everyone in the audience had tears.

People were smiling and cherishing the moment.

Later everyone clapped and the conference ended with a great success of the book called

    GUZARISH  !!

  • Coming Back Home

    Coming Back Home

They say everyone deserves a second chance. Will you give a second chance to love?

“I’ll find her and bring her home. I promise” Levi said wiping the tears off Mrs. Fisher’s cheeks. He got on his feet and rushed out of the house. Tightly grabbing the steering wheel, he wondered how she could leave. How she could make a life without the people with whom she had spent whole childhood with, in it?

He reached his house and quickly packing his stuff, made his way to the airport. New York was a big city. How will he find her? But he knew one thing, he needed to get her back. He needed to make amends for whatever he did.

“I don’t know anything about that. I want all the things arranged before I enter the office” he heard her from behind the door. He rang the doorbell. She unlocked the door looking stunning in her blue wrap dress. He couldn’t believe that she used to be the sixteen year old who dressed up like boys. Screaming his name in excitement, she hugged him tightly. Pulling back, she asked, “Levi, what a surprise? What made you stop at me house?”

He walked in the apartment as she started cleaning up. She smilingly said, “I am so sorry. I was not expecting anyone”

He shook his head with smile, “No, it is totally fine”

He sat on the couch as she brought glass of water for him. She sat next to him asking, “So, how are you?”

“I am fine” he started circling the rim of the glass. She asked, “What is it? Anything serious?”

He shook his head, “No, nothing like that”

She tilted her head and gave her sweet smile which made his heart skip a beat. She said, “You always start to play with something when you don’t know what to say. Come on, Levi. I know you. I loved…”

She paused for a moment, “Umm, just say it”

He replied, “She wants to see you. I came to take you back, Sia”

She held her hand in air which made him stop. She said, “Levi, you are welcome to stay here for as many days as you want but…I am not coming with you anywhere. I have life here”

He was going to protest but she got up saying, “I have to leave. You can make yourself comfortable here”

She grabbed her bag and walked out of the door. He buried his face in his hands. He could see the wounds of past still fresh in her heart. The way her fake smile hid her tears, he knew it all.

Sia was sitting on the stairs sobbing and covering her mouth to not let any voice escape. No matter how much she pretended to be strong in front of her, he makes something in her melt. He was not supposed to come back. Pretending to not care about him had become a habit but seeing his blue eyes, always made her realize, how much she misses him in her life. Wiping her tears, she gathered herself and descended down.

“I am happy for you. It had been…what…” he said with his mouth full with diner.

“Five years” she replied. He nodded, “Yeah, five years. You have changed a lot”

Shrugging, she took bite of her food, “People change and move on. They don’t wait for people to come back. That is nature.”

There was silence in the room. She asked, “How is Natalie? And Jay?”

He nodded, “They are fine. You know how it is to convince them for a single thing.”

She nodded, “Yeah, I know the wedding is this month. You should head back soon”

He rolled his eyes, “If you don’t want me here, you can say it. I can stay in a hotel but I am not leaving without you. And I think my sister will want you in her wedding. She loves you.”

She bit her lip. She didn’t how to answer. As much as she wanted him to be gone, she also wanted him to be around her. She got up and went to the kitchen. He yelled, “For God’s sake Sia, your mother needs you”

Sia dropped the plate in sink saying, “Well, she was not there when I needed her. She left me Levi. I grew up on my own. So, I have a right to decide if I ever want her in my life or not. You are the not the one. You don’t have a right”

He walked to her as she burst in tears. She sat on the floor hugging her knees tightly. Sitting next to her, he wrapped his arms around her. Stroking her hair, he said, “I know. I am sorry for yelling at you”

She shook her head as she pulled herself back and wiped her tears, “You don’t have to be sorry. It had been my fault and it was always my fault.”

    She went in her room.

“New York is a big city. You will get lost here” she remarked with a smile. He was holding the map of New York in his hand. Putting it on the table, he said, “If I had someone who can guide me around, maybe…I’ll enjoy the city more”

She cocked her head to side saying, “Not a chance. I have work”

He made a pout with his chin resting on his palms. She laughed, “Don’t ever do that. It used to look cute when you were kid. Not now”

    He smiled, “So, you coming?”

She nodded before making a call at her office.

“So, let me get this straight. We are eating ice-cream in this chilling winter because it is the best ice-cream I’ll have?” he asked. She nodded licking her ice-cream. Sitting on the bench in Central Park, they were watching people pass by. She said, “Let’s play that game”

He shook his head, “No, it would be embarrassing”

She nudged his arm before turning her attention to one the babies in a stroller. She started, “I think he’ll become a successful musician. The way he is crying in tunes”

He laughed, “You are crazy. How can you know that he is crying in tunes?”

She shrugged, “Just by listening to the way he is crying”

He turned his attention to a toddler, “She will be a model who is secretly very smart and nerdy but pretends to be dumb.”

She narrowed her eyes at him, “You think I am dumb”

He held his hands in air for defense, “I was saying in general. No need to take it personally”

She rolled her eyes and looked at an old couple. Smilingly she said, “Married for years, crazy in love and been best-friends ever since they met”

He was staring at the couple too. She snorted, “Well, sometimes, it is not advisable to fall for your best-friend”

She had finished her ice-cream but she was still staring her hands. He murmured, “I am sorry, Sia. I know I shouldn’t have behaved like that”

She laughed, “Yeah, I know. But I think I lost my best-friend the day I confessed my feelings for him”

He shook his head, “No, it is not like that. We can be friends”

She shook her head, “No, it is not that simple, Levi”

She got and was walking away when he caught up with her saying, “You can’t just walk away like that from me. I know you loved me and it broke your heart when I said I didn’t. But what you don’t know is that I missed my best-friend too. You were not there when I need to share with you my secrets, my sadness, my joys, everything”

She rolled her eyes hiding her tears perfectly, “You can share that with your girlfriend too”

“She doesn’t know me that way you do”

“Yeah, I know you very well. I know that…nothing can happen between us. I also know the fact that if I go back to being best-friends with you again, I’ll die from inside again”

She took a deep breath, “Levi, my world had taken a good turn. Please don’t ruin this by coming back. I don’t think I am ready to go through that again”

    “So, you’ll not come back?”

She shook her head. He asked, “You’ll not come back for her biggest day? She doesn’t deserve the happiness?”

Sia looked up, “She deserves all the happiness but she will not deserve my forgiveness. We both lost the person we love the most and what she did? She ran away. She was my mother, Levi. She was supposed to take care of me not run away from me”

He held her hand but she jerked it away. She continued, “When you said you would bring me back, did you not get the images of me crying in library or me getting called orphan?”

“I think you are doing the same thing. She needs you back in her life and you are running away from her. You are no good than your mother”

Smiling through her tears, she said, “Yeah, I learned that lesson by heart from her. I have a different life here and I don’t need my past to ruin my present”

“You think me coming to get you is ruining your present?”

“Well, it is not making my days bright and shiny”

He didn’t answer instead he kicked the rock on the side in anger. She said, “Don’t pretend you care about me after all these years. You didn’t even call”

He turned to her saying, “I didn’t know what to say. You told me about your feelings but I…”

“But you made a joke of me. Yes, Levi I know. I was there. I know I was not the girl any guy would fall for but… you could have at least had the guts to tell me to face rather than making a big joke of me”

He was going to hold her but she stepped back. She shook her head, “Don’t. Just don’t”

    Saying this, she walked away.

Sitting on the couch, in the dark, he kept wondering about what changed his feelings for her. He had a crush on her ever since the day they met but what changed the day she got on her knees and confessed her feelings for him. He got up and walked in her. She was asleep quietly in her bed hugging her bear, Hopkins. He smiled seeing the same Sia that he knew five years ago. Hopkins had been there whenever she was unable to sleep because of nightmares. She moved a little hugging Hopkins more tightly. He sat by her bed and watched her sleep.

Suddenly, she jumped after a nightmare. He asked, “Are you okay?”

She nodded brushing her hair back. He said, “I was just…”

Before he could complete, she interrupted, “Can you just stay here for tonight? Hopkins is really not helping”

He bit his upper lip and nodded. Settling next to her with his arm around her shoulders, he said, “It is funny that you still sleep with Hopkins”

She giggled, “Yeah, he loves me more than any guy I have met”

He replied quickly, “Hey, I love you more than him”

She was shocked. Turning to him and getting on her elbows she asked, “What?”

    He asked, “What?”

“What did you say? You love me?”

    “Umm, yeah, I think”

She raised her eyebrows, “You think?”

    He sighed, “Well, yeah”

She sat up asking, “What do you mean you think? I need the clarity in this. You love me as your best-friend or you love me as in “love me”. What is it?”

He shrugged, “I think I love you and that is the reason I came to get you back. I think I love you and that is the reason I miss you each and every day in my life. I think I love you and that is the reason I keep finding you in each and every girl that I meet. So, yeah. I think I love you”

She lowered her head, “Just leave right now”

“What?” he asked. She yelled, “I said just get out my apartment”

“But I…” she interrupted, “No, no buts. You can’t just come back after five years and say that you love me and make everything go back to normal. You can’t. So, just get out.”

He climbed down the bed saying, “I think you are kicking me out because you are afraid of love. You have always lost the people that you loved and that is the reason, you don’t want anyone to be in your life anymore. Sia, I know you are afraid of losing people but pushing them away will make you all alone”

She shook her head as he walked out of the door. He was right but she didn’t want to admit that. Hugging Hopkins, she lied on the bed, crying.

Sia was walking down the street drinking coffee. She had got her photo-shoot cancelled a few minutes ago. She had checked with her agent about any other projects but was informed that she is free today. Suddenly, she got a call.

    “Hello”

    “Sia?”

    “Yeah”

    “Hi honey”

“I told your messenger that I am not coming back. So, what is it?”

“He said maybe I should I come to you”

    Sia was confused, “What?”

    “Turn around”

Sia swirled on her heels to find her mother standing on the other side of the road. Mrs. Fisher walked to her and hugged her. Sia was shocked. She asked, “Why did you come here?”

She held her hand, “I came here to spend some time with my daughter”

Jerking her hand off, she said, “No, you can’t just come here saying you want to spend time with me and make everything right. You can just go around the world, sleeping with every other guy you come across…oh wait you are marrying one. You never needed me but I needed my mother. Where were you then? You came here to take me to your wedding so that you can show-off that you have a perfect relationship with me. It is not like that, MOM. No, we are not good”

Mrs. Fisher had tears in her eyes, “I guess I deserve your hate. I know I can’t bring the time back but what I really came here is to make-up. Don’t you think I deserve a second chance?”

Sia was trying to hold her tears but soon a drop escaped her eye. She looked at her mother who hugged her. She hugged her back tightly. Pulling back, Mrs. Fisher asked, “So, I am going to start by spending today with you. What shall we do? How about you tell me about your life? I heard you travel a lot. I think we should start by your adventures”

Sia wiped her tears and smiled, “I got my travel instincts from you. I love travelling like you”

Mrs. Fisher nodded, “Yeah, but first you”

They started walking side by side as Sia started narrating her trips to Milan, Paris, Amsterdam and other places where she had her photo-shoots and fashion shows. That day, Mrs. Fisher got to know her daughter, the way she never did before. She observed that Sia was her own reflection.

Sia stood there smiling at her mother as her mother walked down the aisle in enchanting white dress. Tossing a smile at her, Mrs. Fisher turned her gaze to Richard. Sia met Richard few days ago but had already started liking him. In her heart, she knew Richard could never take her dad’s place. He told her, “I am not going to take his place but can you give a small place in your heart?”

He had a very convincing smile. Sia saw Richard who was watching her mother with same look that her dad used to have. She smiled to herself thinking, finally her mother got happiness that she longed for after her dad’s death. The ceremony ended on a happy note

Levi nudged her arm asking, “So, you finally came?”

Sia snubbed him and moved ahead to her table. He followed her and sat beside her. She asked, “Why are you following me? I think I gave you your answer”

He replied, “This is my table too”

“Well, then don’t talk to me” she warned him. He asked, “You didn’t bring any date?”

She took a sip of her wine saying, “None of your business. Just shut up, will you?”

    “So, you don’t like someone?”

    “No”

    “Who do you like?”

“I said I like no one. There is no one”

He asked again, “Who do you like?”

She turned to him, “I said no one. Can’t you hear that?”

He smiled, “So, who do you like?”

She got irritated, “How many times are you going to ask that?”

“As many times as it takes for you to take my name”

She rolled her eyes, “I like no one. And you…I hate you. No, let me rephrase that. I am not worthy of you. I am not of your standard”

He leaned closer, “Hey, past is past. Can’t you forgive me?”

She shook her head, “Levi, she is my mother. Sooner or later, I would have forgiven her but you…you don’t deserve second chance. You were the reason I have trust issues. You were the reason I don’t have friends anymore. So, no you don’t deserve a second chance.”

He held her hand saying, “Fine, don’t give me second chance but tell me one thing, if you would not have been sick, we would have had chance?”

Her eyes widen in shock. She asked, “How do you know about that? I haven’t told anyone”

He said, “Sia, I stayed in that apartment with you for a week. One day, when I was searching for a pair of scissors, I found some reports. I got a little curious and I opened it. Sorry for that by the way. So, that is how I got to know.”

She squinted, “So that I love you was a pity one? You knew I was sick and that is why you said that. How pathetic!”

She walked out of the hall.

He found her in garden sobbing. Wiping her tears, she said, “You didn’t have to do that. Why play with a sick person’s feelings?”

He replied, “I didn’t confess because you were sick. I confessed because I was afraid of losing you. I thought we wouldn’t have much time left with us. So, I confessed.”

    “I didn’t tell her”

    “Why?”

“Because I didn’t want to ruin her day. I thought if she knew about me, she’ll cancel the wedding. I see how happy she is.”

He smiled, “I told you she would be really happy to see you”

“Also, I didn’t turn you down because I am sick. I honestly think you deserve someone better than me. I am a rag”

He wrapped his arm around her shoulders saying, “That is up to me to decide.”

Her gaze went up saying, “Umm, we should head back”

He held her arm as she got up to stand, “Why do you always have to run away?”

She shrugged with a smile, “A habit”

He stood up, close to her, “Then maybe I need to get a new habit. Catching you at every point”

She chuckled, “Yeah, better luck for that”

He pulled her closer with his arm around her waist, he kissed her. She pulled back, “You genuinely like me?”

He smiled, “I can sign a contract of that too”

She laughed, “There is no contract like that”

“Hey mom” she murmured as she saw her mother sitting by her side. She had been admitted to hospital last week when Levi noticed her coughing blood every minute. She protested but Levi was persistent to get her admitted.

Her mother had her hand in hers. She kissed the back of her hand and said, “You are going to be fine, baby”

She replied, “I know mom. They said it is minor stage. I’ll be cured”

Her mother was crying. Sia smiled, “Mum, hey. Chill. I am fine”

Levi entered the room with coffee cups. He said, “Julie, please don’t cry. She will get her head in clouds. She is already getting breakfast in bed”

Sia protested, “That is not breakfast. That is poison. I don’t like the food here”

He was going to answer but doctor entered the room. He greeted everyone. He said, “Sia, your reports came in and there is a good news. You are absolutely fine now”

Sia had a big smile on her face, “I have been telling that to everyone. They are getting worried, I don’t know why”

Julie kissed her daughter’s cheek and went to doctor to talk about something. Levi sat next to her with a smile, “Oh no, now I am stuck with you”

    She nodded, “Yeah, bad luck”

He kissed her and said, “Life gave you a second chance too”

    She nodded.

  • How Much Do You Love Me

How Much Do You Love Me

How much do you love me? I have asked you in my Prayers

Love has many faces some are beautiful some are most beautiful, purest of all, falling in love with someone and loving them more than you, it’s a brave thing to do, not everyone knows the definition of love in this world.

14th February, a day that I can never forget ever in my life, apart from being my birthday, it brought back beautiful fond memories, memories of all the years that have passed by, memories of the celebrations, the people, the gifts. I never really gave this concept a very careful thought till this day. Well…, this year memories brought back much more, even my own self. An encounter with my past self was something that I least imagined would happen this day.

We lived each moment to its fullest; he was my pillar of strength, my best friend, my Lawrence…. My soul mate, probably something much more. He has always been there with me, since the time I remember. As cliché as it can get… we were inseparable. He always tried to make my birthdays the most special, gave me the most thoughtful gifts… that I haven’t   forgotten till date. I was the talker and he was the listener, I guess that was what kept us together, but there comes a day when the listener is done with the listening and that is exactly what happened and after that day we both grew as strangers. I still struggle to forget about that day and I am sure it is same for him and today I suddenly feel this huge hole in my heart, it has probably been there since that day waiting to be filled, so I immediately left to go and face the problems, face him, to tell him that it was really my fault and that I have been sorry for all these years and that I still loved him as much as I did earlier. I was the one who always walked out of any argument… first. He tried to mend the gap, but I was the one to put my foot down and remained stubborn. He was always a good boy; he never stopped trying to get us both back together again. He was always ready to put aside his ego and work out the problems.

In the fit of anger I never gave him chance to explain himself, never responded to any of his calls, or messages.

It makes me happy that I am going to meet him and that I have realised to do the right thing. I got his new address from the person currently living in his old home. Whenever we fight, he always used to tell me “Someday, I will be gone then you will know my importance and you will remember me”. Yes, he was a bit theatrical back then, the moment I reached his house, I knew I had come to the right place; it looked like him, it felt like him. I wonder how life has treated him since. I am going to give him the tightest hug and everything will be alright. I remember that he used to maintain a diary, though we had each other’s back all along and shared every possible detail; he still had that stupid little diary, I never really asked what he wrote in it, as I turned the pages of his diary, my whole life stood still before me. I realised… I had been living this great life on Lawrence’s good wishes and blessings. I was indebted for life and I knew that never was I ever going to be able to pay it back, not at least in this life. He wrote about all the beautiful memories of togetherness which he cherished and the pain and suffering that he has gone through. Has this really happened to him? To me?

Has he forgotten me, our friendship …the arguments? All these things I wanted to say to him and I was left stunned only to know that all these years he was still mine asking me in his prayers, which I am not worth of, I was no longer his Anna, and I was a whole new person now, a new book, with each day, a new page, the first page.

Lawrence now greets me not as an old fiend but someone I knew more than anyone else would have. “He lived a beautiful life he said without me, but it would much better views if I was with him” he said. I was wrong; there comes a day when it is too late. It left wondering why EGO becomes so important?? Even more than courage?? So, here I am looking forward to a life with Lawrence, yet the same which was 5 years back.

There is a note for me in the Diary saying “I have asked you in my prayers every day. You are my strength of my everyday struggles. I hope one day you come back to me and stay with me and we could grow old together.”

  • Despicable love

    Despicable love

                                                                Sehmi sehmi raaton mein…
    sehmi sehmi firti hoon,
    lautungi main tere liye…tere liye….
    jaaniyaan…….

Love demands sacrifice. This is the ultimate truth, but what if you are that sacrifice for someone’s ambition, for someone’s figment of imagination so that they can live their reality in a perfect fairy tale ending. And you the solely victim lives with that ‘perfect ending’ illusion without knowing what evil is lurking behind you…

Sia loved to hum this song, it was one of her favorite tracks. She didn’t care if it was midnight or morning whenever she was feeling low she plugged the earphones in her ear and played this song on repeat mode and eventually started humming this song.
‘Hey dreamy girl’! Wake up!! Aisha literally chirped one afternoon when Sia was taking her siesta after a long exhausting work on her story. ‘Sia I sometimes think that your far- fetched stories easily comes to you in your sleep’. All hail to Sia our mysterious writer!  Sia was smiling while looking at her roommate. ‘Now as your today’s quota of exaggeration is over make some coffee’. Sia said while pushing her towards the kitchen.

It was past midnight and Sia had fallen asleep on her table while typing and the song was still on ‘Repeat’ mode and suddenly she found herself in a jungle and she was chasing someone. As soon as she turned around, she saw a board there hidden by bushes. When she bent down to read the words she gasped and quickly started running towards the jungle, now the jungle was getting darker and dangerous and she was just about to shout out for help but something restricted her. Now she saw that the one she was chasing was in trouble and pleading for help. Before she could do anything she heard a ringing tone like of an alarm and with a quick effort she just woke up and looked at her watch which showed 2:00 AM. ‘Again that same dream and still I got nothing out of it’. Sia muttered to herself and dragged herself to the kitchen for some coffee. ‘Why always I get stuck in that jungle and the alarm wakes me up? Sia was talking to herself very slowly so that Aisha is not disturbed who was sleeping in the next room. ‘I really have to think fast for that ending because every time I cannot manage in the ‘time crunch’. She was remembering her last time when she had gotten her book published and how she managed to end her mysterious tale with an astonishing conclusion and her fans and followers were still appreciating for her masterpiece.
After few days Aisha and Sia decided to take a break from their works and agreed to go on a jungle trip. Aisha asked one of her friends for an adventurous trip in the jungle. ‘But Aisha you know you should also take me as guide there because you know I’m an expert and how can I knowingly leave you two girls out there in the jungle all by your own’. Ankit was trying to persuade her as Valentines week was coming and this time he didn’t want to miss any chance with Sia.
They had met at her publishing ceremony of her first book one year ago and there, that place, that time he knew ‘she’ was the one. Her serious looks while reading something or her mysterious smiles when he cracked any silly jokes or her always in ‘conscious’ mode compelled him to love her more. But obviously she didn’t know till now. ‘Ha Ha Ha you know what Ankit let it be because we both are very responsible and dare if anyone comes in our way then I can use some of my ‘kung-fu’ lessons! And she laughed in a maniac way. ‘Aisha don’t be so mean please you know why I’m so keen on coming with you two, he paused for few seconds and then said ‘okay see the silver lining of this your money will be saved because I’ll bring my car and I’ll let you drive this time, I swear!!
Aisha always knew that how Ankit looks at Sia whenever they all got together and this gave an heart wrenching pain to Aisha because since two years she was in love with Ankit but she vowed not to disclose this in fear of getting mocked by him because she tried that on Christmas day when  they were playing ‘Truth’ and ‘Dare’ and the bottle stopped towards Aisha and she chose ‘Truth’. ‘Now your dirty secrets are going to be spilled Aisha’ , Ankit rubbed his hands and looked towards her with naughty expressions and there she blurted ‘I Love You’ and then Ankit started laughing and he laughed till his sides ached and what he said was just an unbearable blow to her. ‘Have you ever looked at yourself Aisha , you silly girl! You can be anyone’s friend but ‘love’ is not your cup of tea, you are awesome I mean just brilliant, perfect in everything but this!! And then he started laughing again. Enjoy your life buddy don’t spoil by loving and all! And then with controlling anger she started acting and said it was all a prank just to check their reactions.

“Hello, hello, Aisha, you there? Can you hear my voice?”, and she came back to present and quickly controlled that pain in her gut and agreed with his plan.

They agreed to start their journey at 6:00 clock in the morning the next day for avoiding traffic. Surprisingly everyone was on time even Ankit who was always the latecomer in their group. He instantly came out of the car and forcefully took the bags from Aisha and Sia. Both the girls were looking at each other with comical expressions.
As soon as the girls sat in the backseat, Ankit started his drama ‘what?? Do I look like a driver to you? one of you has to come and sit here next to me, he pointed towards the seat. Aisha and Sia burst out in laughter. ‘Yeah, In your dreams. Ankit was taken aback because he never thought that Sia could ever talk like this. He was really enjoying this. He started the car and they all were talking, teasing and laughing all the way when suddenly Ankit stepped on the brakes and muttered while showing his small finger to them. They both started giggling and suddenly Aisha’s eyes sparkled and and she winked at Sia and Sia knew that what she was up to.
Ahhhhh!! Now I fell so relaxed, Ankit said and he opened the door to his seat and was irritated while looking at Aisha. ‘Hi buddy, go and relax yourself more because now I’m covering the rest distance.’ Aisha made a face looking at him. And then Ankit realized that this is the ‘platinum opportunity’ for him and he jumped to the back seat and carefully maintained a distance with Sia.
As soon as Aisha started the car the Radio too started playing. ‘A lovely morning and a romantic week to all my beautiful listeners’ RJ Tanya’s voice echoed in the car. And they all were mesmerized by the songs she played one after the other and all this time Ankit was just admiring Sia and sometimes she too looked at him while resisting her smile. Ankit’s heart leapt to his mouth every time she did this. Aisha was witnessing all this but helpless as always she distracted herself and tuned to another station.
It was two o’ clock in the afternoon and they have decided to rest in a hotel which was few kilometers away from the jungle and they have decided to enter the jungle at 6 in the evening. They all retired to their rooms respectively. ‘I’m going to take a shower Sia’. Aisha said this and quickly closed the door and opened the tap and started sobbing quietly. After 10 minutes she heard a pounding on the door and as soon as she opened she saw Sia with her towel and clothes. ‘You forgot to take this silly! My god what happened to your eyes?? Sia looked at Aisha’s eyes which were bloodshot. ‘Nothing I was just washing my face with this soap and it all entered my eyes’. And Aisha giggled while tears were still coming out of her eyes. ‘you know what you always underestimate my intelligence… before she could complete her sentence the bell rang and Sia went to open the door and Aisha locked herself in t he washroom. ‘aarghhh…!!! As soon as Aisha heard Ankit’s voice she bolted the door and ran towards him. ‘what? Wha..? di d you do now? She saw his hand was bleeding copiously. ‘It’s nothing it’s just aarrgg…’ he again screeched with pain.’ Okay I have that ointment in my bag and she literally pushed away Sia and took out the ointment and first cleaned his wounds very carefully. Sia was watching all this and was just shaking her head while smiling. ‘There you go fit as a fiddle’. Aisha mocked. ‘My god how you bring these phrases into your mind and then he suddenly looked at Sia and cringed his nose and said ‘well here’s the source of inspiration’ and bowed to her. ‘Funny guy’!! Sia taunted and they all started laughing. ‘Okay it’s already 4:30 now please you go to your room because we have to freshen up’. Aisha pushed Ankit towards the door and he suddenly held her hand and said ‘why haven’t I ever fallen in love with you’? Aisha felt numb suddenly and her face was totally blank. After few seconds she heard Ankit laughing ‘you can fool me so can I’. He ran towards his room.

It was 6 in the evening and they all entered the jungle. Seriously? I mean we are going for an adventure trip Aisha not in somebody’s funeral! Why are you carrying so much baggage? Ankit looked at her big backpack. ‘I sometimes forget how commendable your sense of humour is Ankit! And this is not just my things it’s Sia’s too!! Ankita stated blankly. ‘ohhh you should have told me alright then you can carry by yourselves? Obviously you can my lady dabbang. He squeezed her in her in his arms. Sia turned towards the opposite side and then she gasped. It was the same board that she saw in her dream. She didn’t dared to look towards it.
‘Well then let’s start’! Ankit clapped his hands and they started walking.
Siaaaaaaaaaa!!!! Ankit was screaming at the top of his lungs. They all were lost as Aisha had a little fight with Sia she told them that she was going on her own and after few minutes Sia advised Ankit that the two of them will go differently in two directions and one of them will catch Aisha. But now as the darkness dominated and there was not a single sign of any light and of Sia or Aisha. It was just his torch and his undeniable conscience that encouraged him to go on. He was completely unaware of the ominous accident that was about to happen in the other part of the jungle.

She was running and crying after what she did. She never meant to but one has to do something in one’s defense. As she hoped to find him she just stuck her legs in the hole and now she was struggling with her legs when she heard that footstep, dragging in between the dried leaves. She could hear her heart pounding as if it will just burst out. And there that shadow cast upon her through the little bit moonlight which was finding its way through the dense trees. And there she was with a steel rod in her hand. Sssiaaaa….. please drop that at once and stop this stupidity, I know ankit is here hiding somewhere, right? Okay Ankit you won, you both won now let’s stop this madness!!! Aisha was not able to believe what she was seeing. Then suddenly Sia spoke in her never heard chilling voice ‘Ankit is right you know; you are silly Aisha. I mean what exactly made you think that day? Well Ankit himself is not so smart. You tried your best to convince him that you were lying! But did you think that you can outrun me with your silly smartness! And now Sia’s bloody lips and her scorned face looked crystal clear in the shining moonlight. ‘But,but what it has to do with all this?? Aisha stammered.

Sia came to her and sat beside her and caressed her lovingly and then said I love you sweetheart you never knew?? I mean how come you never realized that! You didn’t have any idea?? Right Aisha?

And Sia jerked Aisha’s head while clutching to her tresses in her hand and Aisha shrieked in pain. Shhh shhhh sweety now you don’t want anything tragic happens to him. Do you? Sia cocked her head at the other side and detangled her hair carefully.
‘Sia I never knew that you liked me and I respect your.. What good it will bring me? huh? Your respect? What I will do with that! I want your love, the same love which you give it to that brainless idiot without even asking! Sia stood up and again took the rod in her hands. Aisha trembled with fear and cold and she was sweating profusely.
‘Sia calm down’! and listen to me please! You love me, right? So when you love someone you don’t harm them or their loved ones you love them without any condition. ‘But now it’s too late for that chit-chat. But still you can be of one good thing to me! You can be my pretty perfect ending to my book! And before Aisha could understand anything it was pitch black in front of her eyes.

‘ohhh thank god Ankit you are here’! Sia dashed to him from the other side while clutching his shirt for protection. ‘Where the hell is Aisha? And why are you bleeding? Ankit looked at her suspiciously. ‘She has gone mad’! Sia spoke while gasping for breath. ‘She hit me with the rod on my back because she thinks that I’m coming between you two!! Sia started crying and hugged him tightly. Ankit was feeling helpless and he hugged her back. After several minutes he consoled her and told her to calm down and gave her some water. He was just thinking for calling to Aisha when he heard something moving and before he could turn around Sia hit him hard with a stone on his head and Ankit dropped down screaming with pain. ‘So you love me’? How much you love me Ankit? Tell me? do you love me to that extent where you can die for me or let me rephrase that question can I kill you for your unconditional love? Sia pouted her lips forward and shook her head with sadness.
‘I so wish that you didn’t come in Aisha’s life and I tried this afternoon when that scorpion was served you in your room but look at you all healthy! And who saved you? Again my beloved Aisha! she has this weird tendency to save everyone and look In the end she only.. And shestopped. ‘whaa.. what Have you done to her? Tell me you.. and Sia again hit him but this time with the rod and Ankit’s last words turned into his last breath. His blood was gushing out and splattered on the forest ground.

    After three months

‘Now, now be careful easy there.’ Sia helped Aisha In sitting. ‘how are you feeling’? is there any pain? Any wound? Relax Sia you are acting like you have been hurt. Aisha smiled at her
‘Obviously I was hurt when you were sleeping and dreaming for one month and I couldn’t help you’! When doctors said that you will remain in coma for god knows how long!! I was shattered! Sia’s welled up and tears dropped down to her lap. ‘Hey, hey but see I’m back without any pain but obviously with a permanent blockage to my past life! Aisha giggled. ‘Sia stroked her hair and said ‘but sometimes it’s necessary to start something with a fresh clean memory. Like when you write on the sand and the sea washes it away and then you write something new. ‘Hmmm your metaphorical words just send me to a parallel universe. She guffawed and then looked at Sia and said ‘but I’m lucky that my love is with me forever and protecting me with all the negativities. Sia smiled uneasily and hugged her.

That night when Aisha went to deep sleep, Sia got up and went to her balcony and closed her eyes –

That board was put on display for the passersby and it read : Don’t go inside the jungle after 6 in the evening otherwise the ‘evil’ will come to you. She had already read that before entering with Aisha and Ankit but didn’t informed them because her cunning mind had already planned the ‘evil’…
That night was really a long one as Sia dragged Aisha to the entrance of the jungle and soon reached her hotel in Ankit’s car and called for an ambulance.
‘Sir that boy Ankit he was repeatedly attacking her so I had to do something and yes I killed him in my defense because if I had not then he must surely have killed both of us’!! She pleaded to the inspector.
‘But what was the reason that he was so keen on murdering her? The inspector looked at her quizzically.
‘Sir because Aisha loves me and he was in love with her, she knew but I never knew that he was planning this brutal attack on us!
‘Doctor how is she’? Sia was crying. ‘I’m sorry but I’m afraid after this massive blow on her head she might lose her memory, for now she is in coma.
And that same month Sia published her book with that ominous ending and when she was asked about that ending that was that  inspired or imagined?  ‘That’s my inspiration from someone else’s reality’.  Sia answered with a crooked smile.
Sia looked at Aisha who was sleeping soundly and quietly whispered in her ears ‘Happy valentine’s my love’ and kissed her on the forehead. And started humming:
    Sehmi sehmi raaton mein,
    sehmi sehmi firti hoon,
lautungi main tere liye…. Tere liye…
    jaaniyaan…

  • Picture Perfect

    Picture Perfect

Perfect love comes with perfect Valentines’ Day destinations.

Just married! How everything, even the bulldog like face of the lawyer, and two or three curs plodding the streets audaciously, looked nice and beautiful. But, to top this new-found, peculiar beauty that he was experiencing all of a sudden, was the lovely face of his wife. Ah! This was seventh heaven for him.

Marrying against everyone’s wishes and settling with Ritu in the vast cosmopolitan city of Mumbai was not, and would never turn out to be easy; but so far hadn’t turned out to be much difficult either. The weather was showing signs of a possible bout of rain, with ominous dark clouds and chilling winds. With a hurried “thank you” and a few pleasantries that a civilized society demanded, the couple, in their brand new car was seen speeding into the ever-crowded streets of the city.

Above all the excitement in Vivek’s heart, there laid the inevitable truth that his life was now prone to a lot of changes and he was in store for surprises that this marriage would bring. He simply couldn’t avoid thinking how suddenly one by one the events had occasioned themselves, and now were trailing, chained together across his memory lane. Thus, thoughts took possession of his mind, and even if the heavy traffic on the roads demanded his complete attention, he got himself preoccupied with the happenings of a recent past till that very day, when he had finally transcended from a boyfriend to a husband.

His friends had not quite believed him when one day he had confided in them that it was a love at first sight with Ritu, more or less because she wasn’t the type boys would goggle at, with her short hair, simple looks and straightforward attitude; an air of discipline was always around her, something that exactly suited a school girl. Nonetheless, they had supported him in his romantic endeavor – he was successful at striking a friendship with her and from there their romance had flourished well until they had finished college.

Having been lucky have been granted placements, although in different sectors and institutions – Vivek as a travelling journalist and Ritu as a reporter in a TV News Channel, everything was running quite happy and smooth; they had little difficulty in maintaining a distant relationship. Five years went by and it was that time when family starts pressurizing about settling and starting a family. So, gradually in another year, both their families came to know about the existence of the other person in their lives, but that was when things started turning out bitter, because neither his nor Ritu’s family agreed to the marriage.

By this time Vivek had quit travelling and settled comfortably in Mumbai, and three days ago he had purchased the car that he was now driving. Actually, purchase of the car and a pact with a certain lawyer for a court marriage had been almost simultaneous, and this morning the pact had come off successful. And Ritu, who had been staying in a hostel all along after college in Mumbai itself, was going to find a new home. Her feelings of excitement, love for Vivek, and a little apprehension were all intermingled too. Neither of them spoke throughout the journey from the court to Vivek’s flat.

Neither of them had told their parents too about this act. It would have to be done soon today and they would have to face the music – there was simply no other alternative. But once that was over, they could enjoy a few happily married days…

He hadn’t imagined that a sarong and fluttery sun-hat would look so beautifully fitting on the petite Ritu. It was going to be great fun with their three day stay at Pattaya Beach, Thailand. Next, they would be visiting some more amazing Valentines’ day destinations, celebrating their honeymoon, now that already a month of their marriage was coming to an end, and love was in the air with the upcoming Valentines’ week.

The travelling experiences of Vivek had helped him choose some of the best places around the world, which would both strengthen their bond and show his bride how much she meant to him.

He couldn’t help feeling happy whenever he remembered how the stunning surprise gift of the honeymoon package had resulted in ecstatic happiness and he had been greeted with a tight hug. That had been after a fortnight of their marriage, when finally the family broils had settled down, and everyone from both sides had more or less accepted the fact. To celebrate this easing tension, as well as their marriage, Vivek had devised this wonderful idea.

With a farewell to the sands of Pattaya, they welcomed the sands of Greece, its mystic atmosphere, and eagerly waited for a view of the mesmerizing sunrise in the Santorini Islands, a haven for lovers. Their next destinations were towards the west, in the US.  The joyous and flirty ambience of chocolates, champagne, canoodling penguins and lovely beaches in San Francisco, California transformed into the cobblestone streets, moody Spanish moss and Southern charm in Savannah, Georgia. Judging the expressions and moods of his wife, he could easily say that she was immensely enjoying the trip, and her happy face evoked in him a double happiness, resulting from her company and the beauty of the places, although he had already had had a taste of them earlier in his life.

After the wild and unique Savannah, the couple shouted a “hello” to New York City in New York, one of the most glamorous and exciting places to be, with the sophisticated SoHo, adventurous downtown Manhattan, Central Park and the High Line, the trip was downright amazing. And this was where they celebrated their first Valentines’ Day as husband and wife.

Unfortunate that they were running close towards the end of their vacation-cum-honeymoon, they could not see more of the country or more of any other mesmerizing places, but with a happy sigh left the New York City Airport for their second last destination – San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is said that the beaches of San Juan in winter are a perfect place to kick-start your romance in the historic city apt for strolling, lounging and club-hopping at night.

It was all a bit strange though; because even if Vivek could vividly visualize their holidays, the places, his beautiful wife and the quality time that they were spending together, he could hardly remember anything of their journeys from one place to another. It was more like the playing of a film for him, too fast, when the background scenery changes from place to place, with the hero and heroine dancing to a romantic song on the foreground. Weird it was, but he let the peculiar feeling go, and focused his mind on their trips.

And finally they took leave of the West and the journey towards the East ended in the islands of Maldives, their last holiday destination, marking the end of an awesome trip. The calm waters and lazy atmosphere of the beaches, suitable for relaxation, helped to get them prepared for a journey back to their country, back home, and of course back to their respective work, and no need to mention – a visit to their families.

At that thought, a little uneasiness crept into Vivek, for the brief carefree days were nearly gone and reluctantly they would have to plunge into the monotonous life again. But at present he was happy to plunge into the azure ocean.

    ***

The excitement in her family after she had gotten a job in Mumbai, gradually through the course of years changed into a nagging tension for Ritu, resulting in several cold feuds with her family, all because she refused to marry anybody else, other than Vivek. The situation had worsened in the past few days, after she had celebrated her twenty eighth birthday. And it was not only her family, but also Vivek’s who were grudging their marriage. They simply couldn’t understand where the problem was. Both of them were well-off, their families were well-off and if they could guarantee a good future with each other, then why get denied? Just because of the difference in their cultural backgrounds, where she belonged to Gujarat and he was a Delhi-based boy? Oh, that was altogether absurd!

When none of the families seemed to see reason, or even try to understand the perspectives, what could they do; no logical solution seemed to appear. It had been almost a year that they were spending their days uneasily, which was hampering their personal as well as professional lives. Now that Vivek had settled in Mumbai, something needed to be done soon; otherwise she felt that this tension would turn out to be a depression for her. The situation couldn’t be avoided anymore, she couldn’t avoid the phone calls from her parents anymore, who even had proposed to come down to Mumbai in a few days to discuss the matter and couldn’t be talked out of it. So, before they arrived and tried to handle the situation in their own way, possibly take her away and marry her off to somebody else, she had to do something quick. But what could she do?

The only answer that was framed in her mind to all her questions was a single word – elope.

Though it wasn’t a very sensible thing to do, but once done, it would sort things out, although after heavy complications. But, no other way out, this was worth a try. This was of course not the first time that this thought had crossed hers or Vivek’s mind; in fact, they had discussed it several times before, but not being an ideal thing to do, they had put it off, always hoping that there would come one fine day when at least one of their families would agree to their getting married.

But now, running out of time as they were, she would urge Vivek to take quick steps and wait no more. And she would do it tomorrow, on Valentines’ Day, and would also gift him something to make the occasion special. After all, she was sure that he would agree and if so it would be their last Valentines’ Day as boyfriend and girlfriend. The thought brought a grin on her face, but at the same time she heard the clock in the hall chime midnight. Time to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be a very busy day, perhaps for both of them.

    ***

Vivek in the middle of enjoying a drowse on his airplane seat beside Ritu, on their retuen journey from Maldives to Mumbai, was rudely awaken by somebody who had so audaciously taken the liberty to dash a glass of cold water on his face.

“What the-!” he halted in the middle of shouting.

He was dazed. It was not in any airplane he was in, but strangely in his own house, sitting drenched on his own bed, and there was Ritu beside him, looking ever so gorgeous, laughing her guts out and holding an empty glass.

“It was about time you woke up, sleepy head. It’s nine o’ clock,” she giggled, “And happy Valentines’ day!”

“So it was all a dream” he murmured smiling to himself, “But an extremely pleasant one”. Well, now he could understand the abrupt shifting of the scenes and the movie-like feeling.  Aloud he said, “Happy Valentines’ Day, dear! What a surprise! No office today?”

“Took a leave. And so are you going to do. Here are two movie tickets I bought for us. Get up and get ready. The movie starts in two hours.”

At the movie, which turned out to be rather boring, Ritu told him about her parents coming in a few days. And that was when a bright idea struck him. Why not turn that dream into a beautiful reality? So, before she could suggest the part about eloping, he asked her if she was okay with a court marriage, and told her about the rather filmy dream he had had. She smilingly nodded her consent and hugged him. Wow, another beautiful moment, and this time it was real.

They would marry, and after things had settled down well, he would take her on a vacation to the exact same places he had visualized in his dream. The movie ended and while coming out of the theatre, he called up his lawyer friend to fix a date for the marriage. And he would also buy a car in a few days. The dream had been picture perfect. And so his life was going to be.

  • The Gift of LIFE (II)

    The Gift of LIFE (II)

Its about how friendship is important in one’s life and how great friends a girl and a guy could be.

    Read Part I

Days were passing and our friendship grew better everyday. Both of us had lost hopes on the concept of  love, we were scared of another heartbreak and hence we never fell in love. Instead , we cared for each other too much, shared whatever is on mind, happiness, sadness, old memories and so on. Our bonding became so strong and no other harmful thoughts rose in our mind. We used to be together at home watching movies or having fun even at late evening yet our hearts were so pure that we had true care and friendship in mind and nothing else. And thus an year has passed and we were the best friends forever. I felt so secure when I was with him.

I felt contented that I had been fully healed from my heartbreak because of this true care and unconditional relationship. I felt that my Aadhi was the GIFT OF MY LIFE that God has sent to make me happy in this world.  These were the thoughts and memories that filled up my mind when I was at the balcony last night.

Waking up the next morning, I cooked the breakfast and went to his home to check on him. I found him still sleeping and poured a glass of water in his face to wake him up. He woke up with a jerk and started chasing me for my act. We were playing from his bedroom through the hall, kitchen and his entire home. We stopped with laughter only after he poured a whole jug of water over my head in revenge. We then made ourselves ready to the office and left.

At the evening on our way back to home, he received a call from his mom. I knew her well and we spoke sometime. We were good friends to our family too. His mom spoke to me about his marriage. I felt really happy about the new life that my friend has to start through this marriage. As we reached home, I conveyed him about the idea of his marriage. I could see from his eyes that he felt little sad thinking of his past. I went near him, patted his shoulder and gave him a smile as he looked at me.

I said, “Trust me, you will really have a great life partner who will understand your feelings of the past and will surely care for you and give you the love you have lost.”

He was silent and I tapped him again to bring him to the present. He looked through my eyes and said “nobody else could understand me more than you. Also, no other girl would like her husband having a female friend so closer to him. I do not want to lose you at any cost, especially in the name of marriage. I don’t want to lose this relationship of ours for a fake bond called marriage. I don’t want to get married.”

I was shocked. I thought he wasn’t interested in marriage just because of his past bitter experiences in love but only now I understood that he wasn’t interested in marriage just because he wanted my friendship forever. I thought to myself that I did the same when my mom spoke about my marriage previously. I consoled him and we clearly explained our thoughts to both of our parents and they freed us for an year. Our parents were good friends just like us. Soon they had found a bride and a groom suitable to us.

First we met my groom and I introduced Aadhi to him. That meeting felt good as our parents had already told them about us. The three of us became good friends and I felt that this bonding would not break my friendship with my Aadhi. The same thing happened while we met Aadhi’s bride. Sooner, our marriage was arranged and we got married on the same day in the same hall. We were the happiest in the world that day. We became a best example of friendship to the world. Only I had to shift myself to my husband’s home and yet we were in good contact with each other.

In all situations, Aadhi helped me and even my husband at his official works. Similarly, I was a good friend to Aadhi’s wife just as I was with him. Happiest was life thereafter. We did not lose the best bonding of our life and at the same time had a personal soul mate for ourselves as per our parent’s wish. Soon, I had a baby boy and Aadhi got a baby girl. Our family entirely was too friendly and lively in relation to each other and our kids grew up together.

Years passed and we always wondered how life would have been without these happy relationships. I and Aadhi always thanked our parents for giving us such wonderful partners who respected our friendship. We were so happy and I always remembered the day I first quarreled with Aadhi at the office and that evening party that became the start dot of this relationship. We were pretty sure that our friendship would continue in our next generation through our kids.

Good friends are a gift of life. Never miss them at any cost.
