Once there was a beautiful hermitage near the bank of the river Ganga. A number of saints lived in this hermitage peacefully from many years. The saints were disciples of a Guru Yadnyavalkya, who was always remained under meditation. The Guru Yadnyavalkya was a great saint and also followed a strict self discipline.

One day, while he was bathing in the river, a hawk flew over with a mouse in its claws. Suddenly the mouse fell down from its claws directly reached into the hands of Guru Yadnyavalkya. When the Guru noticed that the hawk was still flying above and if he left the mouse alone, the hawk caught the mouse again. So he decided to not left him alone and put the mouse on a leaf of nearby banyan tree. When the hawk fled away the Guru again went to take a second bath to purify himself.

When the Guru returned from bath, he used his powers to transform the female mouse into a beautiful small girl and then took her to the hermitage. When he reached the home, he said to his wife, “My dear, accept this small girl as our blessing of God, as we do not have a child of our own.

The wife agreed and accepted the girl. The girl started growing in the hermitage under the care and observations of the guru and his wife. He gave her knowledge about science and ways of life. Both the Guru and his wife loved her very much and have proud on their special child.

Days passes away and then time reached when the girl reached a marriageable age. One day the Guru’s wife discussed with him about the marriage of their daughter. They decided to give it a serious thought, as she was a special child and so deserved a special husband.

On the very next morning the Guru, using his powers ordered the Sun God to be present before him and then he said, Please accept my daughter as your wife. I wish you to marry her, if she chooses you as her husband.” The Sun God did not say any word but the daughter said, “My Dear Father, although the Sun God lights up the entire world but he is unbearably hot. I cannot accept him as my husband. Please look for a better husband for me.”

The Guru surprised as her daughter’s words and said, “Who might be better than even the Sun God?"  Immediately the sun advised him, “Guruji, you can seek for the King of Clouds. He can cover me and my light, so he superior to me. He is perfect match for your daughter.

The Guru agreed with the Sun God and immediately called the King of Clouds by using his powers, and said, “Please accept my daughter as your wife. I wish you to marry her, if she chooses you as her husband.”

The daughter immediately said, “Father, the King of Clouds is very dark, wet and too cold. I cannot accept him as my husband. Please look for a better husband for me.”

The Guru get shocked and said, “Who might be better than even the King of Clouds?" then the King of Clouds advised him, “Don’t worry Guruji, you can seek the help of Lord of Winds. He can blow me away so he is superior to me.”

Immediately the Guru, using his powers called the Lord of Winds and requested him, “Please accept my daughter’s hand. I wish you to marry her, if she chooses you as her husband.”

Suddenly the daughter said, “Father, the Lord of Winds is too fast and never stay at one place, he keeps changing his direction always. I do not wish to marry him. Please look for a better husband for me.”

This time the Guru worried and said, “Who might be better than even the Lord of Winds?” then the Lord of Winds advised him, “Guruji, you can seek the help of the Lord of Mountains. He is tall enough and even superior to me, for he can stop me from blowing."

Then the Guruji immediately, using his powers, called the Lord of Mountains, and said, "Please accept my daughter as your wife. I wish you to marry her, if she chooses you as her husband.”

This time even the daughter replied, “Father, the Lord of Mountains is too hard and rigid also. He is immovable also, how can I manage with him. I do not wish to marry him. Please seek a better husband for me."

The Guru wondered on her daughter’s excuses and said, "Who might be better than even the Lord of Mountains?" Then the King of Mountains suggested, "Guruji, do not worry, you can seek the help of the King of Mice. He is superior to me, for he can make holes all over me."

So the Guru, using his powers, called the King of Mice, and requested him, "Please accept my daughter as your wife. I wish you to marry her, if she chooses you as her husband.” When the daughter saw the King of Mice, she became very happy and shyly agreed to the marriage.

Then the Guru transformed her daughter to a beautiful female mouse and then married his daughter with the mouse.

The wise indeed say:

What is in-born, can never change.
