This is the month of December, everyone is out for Christmas Eve. Everywhere it’s been decorated with lights, stars and little to Christmas trees. Match stick seller boy John was carrying a basket full of match sticks.  Mrs Jones from across the street is busy serving her customer in her little cake shop.  Martha is busy selling little Santa toys and reindeer. Amongst this hustle bustle, there’s a girl, who’s going to meet her Grandma with her mom.  Her name is Nina. She’s 10 yrs old.

Her dad passed away when she was only 5yrs. He died in a car accident while coming home from work. He used to love her and cherish her. Both her mom and she believes that her dad is still there by their side, protecting them. Her dad was the best person in this world. Her mom, still remembers that day when both she and her husband was going to drop at her grandma’s house for the first time. They were so happy.

Her grandma was sitting on a rocking chair and was watching others celebrating Christmas Eve. She was sitting in her garden and twinning wool threads in a pair of single-point knitting needles. She is an old lady. She used to live alone here in her own house. She was wearing a shawl around her, covering herself from this harsh winter.  She has rounded and golden-rimmed spectacles. Today she’s quite happy because Nina is coming to her house for Christmas with her mother. She had baked her favourite choco chip fudge cake, with gingerbread house.  It’s about time when Nina is about to come but she dozed off.

After a long time, she felt like someone is wrapping their small hands around her. Grandma quickly woke up. Nina says,” Guess who’s this?” Grandma says,” It’s you, my little pie.” Nina quickly jumps in joy and hugs her tightly and wishes her, Merry Christmas, Meeemaw. Grandma says,” Merry Christmas Nina.” Nina says,” I have a surprise for you., but first you have to close your eyes and no peeking” Grandma closes her eyes. She felt something upon her hands. Nina told her to open her eyes. Grandma gasps. She asks, “What is it?” Nina says,” It’s gloves, granny. Both me and my mom made this for you. When my dad passed away, you were the only one who took care of us. Now it’s time for us to take care of you. Grandma’s eyes are filled with tears. She says,” Thank you, my dear.”
