Chapter 21: A loss of patience

Date: 21st July 2012, Saturday

Place: Pazhamathur

Pugazhendhi woke up at 7 O Clock in the morning.

He felt very much relaxed after a long duration of sleep.

Again his mind started thinking about the business thieves.

He took his mobile and dialled to Kannan’s mobile number.

Kannan answered the call, “Hello”

Pugazhendhi said, “Hello sir”

Kannan said, “What pugazh? You have called me in the early morning, anything urgent?”

Pugazhendhi said, “Yes sir, an important information”

Kannan asked, “What is it?”

Pugazhendhi said, “Yesterday after you left our office, I got another theft case”

Kannan exclaimed, “What? another theft case!”

Pugazhendhi said, “Yes sir”

Kannan said, “Tell me the details in short”

Pugazhendhi said, “A jewel merchant’s house got looted”

Kannan asked, “Who is that Jewel Merchant?”

Pugazhendhi said, “His name is Manilal Mehta”

Kannan asked, “Where did the theft occur?”

Pugazhendhi said, “It happened in Sampathinallur”

Kannan said, “Any clues or evidence?”

Pugazhendhi said, “The bureau got cut open by a welding tool”

Kannan exclaimed,”Oh! My god, it is same like Somanathan’s case”

Pugazhendhi said, “Yes sir”

Kannan said, “What is the stolen item?”

Pugazhendhi said, “Diamonds of worth more that Rs. 1 Crore”

Kannan exclaimed,”Oh! My god”

Pugazhendhi said, “Sir, a common factor in all the three cases is existing”

Kannan said, “What is that”

Pugazhendhi said,”Muniamma, Somanathan and Manilal Mehta got a huge loss in business”

Kannan said,”mmm…yes”

Pugazhendhi said, “But, the three people are from three different business backgrounds”

Kannan said,”mmm…ok”

Pugazhendhi said, “Here Muniamma is an illiterate and belongs to agricultural background”

Kannan said,”hmmm”

Pugazhendhi said, “One more loss is her husband, who died of stroke”

Kannan said,”mmm…I know”

Pugazhendhi said, “So, the thieves are very selective in choosing their targets”

Kannan said, “Then there could be some prior vengeance”

Pugazhendhi said, “I don’t think so”

Kannan said, “Why?”

Pugazhendhi said, “They are watching the high-profile businessmen in this area and attacking”

Kannan asked, “Is muniamma a high profile business woman?”

Pugazhendhi said, “Who knows about how much money she is having in her bank?”

Kannan said,”mmm…So?”

Pugazhendhi said, “So, they are selecting their targets”

Kannan said, “I have initiated a request to my higher authorities”

Kannan added, “You will get the team as promised on Monday”

Pugazhendhi said, “In another two days, we may have another two cases”

Kannan said, “What can I do for that, we need at least a breathing time right?”

Pugazhendhi said, “I am not able to breathe here, Sir!”

Kannan said, “Please manage man”

Pugazhendhi said,”Hmm…then if they do some serious attacks in these two days, don’t blame me”

Kannan said, “Be patient man”

Pugazhendhi said, “I have lost my patience sir”

Kannan said,”hmmm…go rounds, do observations, don’t stay at Office”

Pugazhendhi said, “Then who will attend to the cases coming to our office?”

Kannan said, “Manage yourself man”

Pugazhendhi said, “I am doing like that only”

Kannan said, “Don’t worry, from Monday onwards I will also join the team”

Pugazhendhi said,”Ok sir”

Kannan asked, “Anything more to say?”

Pugazhendhi said, “No sir”

Kannan said,”Ok bye, please keep reporting me in a frequent manner“

Pugazhendhi said,”Ok sir”

Kannan disconnected the phone call.

Pugazhendhi looked at the wall clock.

The time was 7.40 a.m. and the sun rays lighted up his room in the first floor.

Pugazhendhi went to the bathroom and took a bath.

After the bath, he started to cook his breakfast.

He had his breakfast at 9 O clock.

After his breakfast session, he got prepared for the day.
