Darkness, an aching reality that we could escape only under the mercy of our subconscious mind in the form of feathery dreams.

As my eyes opened, I saw an ethereal garland filled with countless flowers of my favourite colour – red. Beauty oozing out of the view that my eyes were cherishing, somehow overpowered the obscurity of the place I was in. Everything was uncertain, unknown and mysterious yet so luring. Just when I was being completely hypnotised by the surreality of that paradise, a masculine voice called out to me…

“Desire”

It was deep, firm but tender. It was a voice that could succumb you to comfort, put you to a soothing slumber. It was a voice completely unknown to me, yet familiar.  The voice somehow enticed me to turn around and take a look at its owner and the next moment I saw him. A tall, dark man with sharp masculine features that could intimidate any entity to serve him with their submission, while his eyes spoke in a whole different way. They were dark and gentle and sparkling with hope to comfort, which was also reflected by that beautiful and tender smile that enlightened his face. Everything about him tempted me to ask…

“Who are you?”

“Avyan”

“Do I know you?”

“Yes you do. I am the man you want to fall in love with.”

The answer confused me but I didn’t know why I felt as if he was saying the truth…Maybe because I was really falling in love with him.

“What is this place?”

“A place where you want to be.”

“I don’t understand what you’re trying to say.”

“Desire, this is your dream. This garland is the place where you’ve always wanted to be. I am the man whom you’ve always desired. And from now on you’ll keep coming back to this place, to me, everytime you want to escape the despairs of the reality through sleep….”

As he completed the sentence, I saw myself fading into thin air. Fear and sorrow invaded my mind…

“What….What is happening to me?”

“Relax. You are just waking up.” His beautiful voice was successful in chasing all my fears and sorrows away and composing me as I continued fading.

The next moment I knew I was on my bed with my eyes wide open….
