The tale of a girl Samaira whose secret remained untold.
“She is so rude!! Doesn’t even look at anybody and make no efforts to even initiate a friendship!!” uttered Ayan, A fresher in the English (Honours) batch of a private University.
Overhearing the remarks and comments on her, Samaira went up to the third seat of the third row which she occupied from the last two weeks with nobody to accompany. For a change that morning somebody finally showed up beside her.
“Hi! I am Karan… Karan Oberoi…It is my first day for the class and unfortunately I have no idea what is going on…”
Completely perplexed about what to say, Samaira replied in her shaking and barely audible voice “I am Samaira…I hope you have brought your books…”
“YUP… Which is the first class?” enquired a vibrant and happy go lucky natured Karan who understood from the very first look of Samaira that she was an introvert.
Samaira… She was the most alluring girl in her batch…Her long black hair on her milk toned skin with her sculpted body could make anyone turn.
Many tried to approach her but her reserved and unassertive nature was mistaken as her ATTITUDE/EGO/SUPERIORITY COMPLEX etc etc….. but that first meeting with Karan had something else in store.
Karan Oberoi … The idle rich, who was the son of a leading business tycoon, found no delight in STUDYING, was a strong believer of “LIFE IS A PARTY” and left no chance to imply to his belief.
Samaira, on the counter part was an unpretentious and hard working persona with an excellent academic record who believed in “LIFE IS A DIFFICULT ROAD” and she left no stone unturned to minimise the difficulty level of her road.
“ENGLISH”, she replied turning her face towards her desk partner. That was the first time a playboy looked deep into the eyes of a girl rather than her body. He struggled to control her mesmerisation as he saw MAGIC.
Filled with trepidation, Samaira looked away and Karan had to come out of his reverie unwillingly.
“THAT WAS THEIR FIRST MEETING.A FIRST PAGE FOR THE BOOK OF THEIR LIFE WAS WRITTEN.”
Days advanced and the third row of CLASSROOM 110 had a new friendship budding. Sharing their life stories was a daily routine.
Sitting under a tree, Samaira spoke” Karan! I need to tell you something… Listen to it very carefully.”
“MM… ohkay! I hope you are not going to propose me or something!” teased Karan with a chuckle.
“It is something serious.”Sarah looked at Karan with anxiety.
”You are too mysterious Sama! Well before you tell something I have a question… You are so reserved but with me you are something else…I mean no hesitation, no reluctance, nothing…
You took no time to add me to your comfort zone! I know I have that charm… But I fear what it is?”Queried Karan with a demented look seeking an answer to his long time question.
“Have you heard about supernatural powers? I mean something not so natural?”Samaira cross questioned Karan looking at him to understand what she meant.
“What is it Sama? You are scaring the hell out of me I swear I will kill you if it turns out to be a joke or something “said a scared rich boy.
“Listen, you have to promise me to keep it a secret!”Demanded Karan’s Sama for assurance.
“Sama!! Don’t you trust me? “
“I can perceive and communicate with spirits .I realised this when I was Ten and since then I had no friends. My mother knew it but I have no one I could trust to tell that before I met you…”
“What… What the hell? You are joking with me right?”
“That is the truth of my life Karan and you… YOU are the affirmation of my truth.”
“What are you talking about Sama? ME…??Your Affirmation? How is this possible?”
“You will get your answers once you read this. “Asserted Samaira taking out a Times of India newspaper dated the day Karan came to the class, pointing to a headline. It said
“GIRISH OBEROI LOST HIS SON KARAN OBEROI TO A DELETERIOUS ACCIDENT”
Karan, stunned by what he just read tried calling his Dad from his phone and for the first time in a week he realised he had not talked to anybody at home, at the hostel and even the college staff except Samaira since that day…
Samaira’s SECRET remained untold.
“NOT EVERYBODY WE MEET IS FOR REAL, BUT THE CONNECTIONS CAN NEVER BE A LIE.”
