  • Slumber

    Slumber

It is sheer nothingness. As I look around, I realise I am trying to inspect darkness, for I see nothing but black eerie air, swirling around as if trying to grasp me tight. This has to be a dream- not escapable or fathomable. The blackness knows no level, and stretches beyond my vision.

As I try to handle this farrago of emotions, I feel a jolt-the hardest jolt I have ever felt. The darkness with no end, was just the beginning. I can sense no God, as I have been taken away from Him and served to the demon, the closest I have ever felt to him. It is Hell, where no mercy or goodwill prevails. I continue to float in air, with no human soul around. What did I do to land up here?

I feel an invisible force trying to pull me down, as I helplessly motion my hands and feet through thin black air. My body falls numb and all my efforts to open my eyes go in vain. The nothingness only deepens, and I surrender to it. Not a soul comes to my rescue, as I muster all my strength to shout for help. No loved one comes for help, not one that I know of. I am crying, but no tear rolls down my cheeks. I lose all my strength, as death befalls.

I find myself in the court of the  Grim Reaper himself. Realisation hits me, as I look at the flashback of my own journey of life. I look at the countless sins I committed, the mistakes I made, the lives I shattered. I suddenly recall being in jail , breathing my last, apologising to all those souls I murdered with my own hands. A seriel killer like me deserves hell, if not worse. The experience begins to make sense now, and I am finally at peace. I received what I deserved.

As I am put to the pyre in front of Satan, I figure out that life is just a collection of acts. One will harvest what one sows, and karma will spare none,  irrespective of life or death.

  • Self Love is the ‘KEY’

    Self Love is the ‘KEY’

Once upon a time, in a really well developed city named Hyrule, where reside many wealthy people, a rich man with the name of Link was living his life happily with his great prosperity and wealth. The only thing that worried him was within him, his increasing weight. While the biggest locker available in the city of Hyrule were filled by his wealth, he was incapable of doing the simplest things for a human being. Carrying weights, climbing stairs, etc. were an impossible task for him.

Exhausted by questions of him on his own capabilities, he decided to get an appointment of the greatest doctor in his city, Doc. Rusk. Rusk was asked to treat the rich man with his problem with a trade of immense wealth.  Despite many diets, tiring workouts and medicines prescribed by Rusk, there was no affect on the “so-immortal” fat of Mr. Link. He felt helpless and defeated.  Even though his family gave him enough support, it all went in vain when the greatest doctor was also accepting his defeat.

Link observed how these month of immense worry-ness went. Finding the source of this issue, he managed to take his mind back to the past when a random stranger said that he was fat, a few months before. Even though he was living his life at its best, not worrying about his obesity as he was not feelings it’s presence at all, he became conscious about his health and his mind only forced him to think about the negative aspects of himself. Ignoring the fact that he was hardworking enough than most of the people, which made him so rich, thinking about his obesity just diverted his mind. He realized that focusing on the comments made by the world should not affect one’s mental health. Loving oneself as the way they are is the most important aspect of maintaining happiness. Even though, Mr. Link is fat but he is hardworking, kind and has a loving family. He is happy in his own aura.

Thus , making a last appointment with Doc. Rusk, he explained everything how he felt. Even though nothing changed with his waste attempts, he realized the true essence of self-acceptance and staying happy rather than being worried about material possessions or achieving perfection in physique. Thus, the tale of Link, the man who was not struggling with obesity but with the feeling of instability, became an inspiring story of self-discovery and self-love. It proved as a reminder that  happiness is not dependent on external factors but is in the depths of the human spirit.

  • The Japanese traveler

    The Japanese traveler

Minstro mintu was a thinly old man with a shrill voice and crazy looking beard. He had traveled from far south to reach the shrine of Bilael, a demi god of their tribe. During his journey he would stop at any place after 8 at night and begin again the next day before the sunrise. At times he had to stay in a small village at others he stayed at big towns but it was all the same for him. Because where ever he goes he would find a lonely place to pass his night into much needed relaxing sleep. On about December’s end minstro arrived at Kejuyan town which was famous for it’s sculptors all over Japan. It was getting dark, so he decided to stay on for the night.

In search of a calm place he stumbled upon a secluded dumping ground. He found a clean and composed place and lit fire with ancient stone friction technique. As the fire illuminated the dark lonely place, he saw there were old broken sculptures lying scattered all around him. Then he spread open his belongings which he carried along with him in a bag, hung on the top end of a long hardwood stick. It had all the necessary accessories to comfort him during his travel. He was carrying a mouthorgan, a tiny bottle of Rum, few clean clothes, and some bread. He drank some Rum and played a heart touching tune on his instrument and within few minutes, the alien land turned into quite a warm homely place.

As Minstro’s night was passing in confortable warmth in the middle of the wilderness, a stray puppy came sniffing from the rags. Minstro called him close and petted it’s back. Finding comfort recieving warmth and affection in Minstro’s company. Minstro too liked the love of his unexpected guest and started narrating his life’s story to the pup. He told how he was a rich silk merchant and how after having lost the love of his life, Mia Shin, he left all his materialistic possessions back home and started on foot for a pilgrimage to the other corner of the world. The listener closed his eyes and felt soon asleep but Minstro continued his tale.

He recounted how Mia Shin faked love and got engaged to an even wealthier person. But owing to his pure feelings he couldn’t bear to see her with another man. He was unable to find a cure for his unhappiness from the best doctors in his town. He drank for so many days and was in sheer pain from betrayal of his sweetheart that he only wanted to waste his remaining life. His mother called for him one day and ordered him to leave for a pilgrimage and find real happiness in the devine grace of sacred Bilael.

With a weeping heart he began to journey towards the north, hoping never to see any joy again in his dull and depressed life. Then where ever he went, he only noticed the all pervading dullness and sufferings of the human life. Moving across the 7 nations he saw humans in their pride, anger and greed and still never made an assumption for them. He passed through the dark alleys of big cities filled with cries of prostitutes and illegitimate children and felt sorry for them. He met criminals and thiefs on his way to the shrine and yet prayed for their reformation. He shed tears for those young soldiers who were bloodbathed while protecting their mother land. And walked by the luxurious houses of ministers who gave empty hopes and false promises to their country men.

He saw young girls falling in love with the wrong men and many men wasted in love of their cunning mistress’. Which made him remind of his own past. Wishing them the company of honest spouses he passed them too silently. He saw how people use to treat him with great respect while he wore silk robes and how lowly people view him while wearing ragged clothes. In a world full of hypocrites he continued walking with a poker face.

Amidst this loss and pain, Minstro looked around himself that day. He finally realised the beauty of the broken statues and the warmth of unconditional love of the dog. For a minute he went into deep thinking and then he said, ” I have traveled a long distance for so many days and seen so much loss everywhere on this planet that I would have shun the idea of continuing my journey as soon as I started, yet there is one thing which still kept me going.” It was, he said, ” the soothing joys of being alone”.

At about midnight a noise was heard in the dead cold silence, a cracking sound was heard from a near by rock statue, it seemed as if something had broken. It was nothing but the heavy heart which snapped into pieces that moment when mistro finished narrating his life’s story. Perhaps the winters were really too harsh that year. Or another possibility could be, that the statue too had a story of his own to share with a lonely traveler.

Minstro turned towards the statue of the curly haired youg boy sitting on a rock with his head resting on his palms, it shed tears on to the ground beneath it. Minto asked the boy,” what’s ailing you”. The boy replied,” many years ago, their lived a master craftsman in the town. His name was Diago. He made many beautiful statues. Then one day, he carved a very beautiful princess out of a brilliant white marble. Her beauty was mesmarising. Diago fell deeply in love with the statue but as he couldn’t have loved a lifeless stone figure for the rest of his life. So brokenheart he went far away from us leaving us all alone.” Sculpture responded,” for a long time I felt lonlyness was a curse untill today when you found your happiness in a lonely life.”

Statue demanded minstro to suggest a fitting solution to find his happiness to, being a wise traveler of the South. Then Minstro exclaimed, life is so full of misery and pain that the only wise man is the one who accepts the pains as inevitable and sees good in the most sad moments of his life. Minstro said, “never admired the beauty in broken stone sculptures as long as my eyes were rested at expensive silk fabrics. I never knew real love, untill one day a little pup really made me feel that”.

He found his cure in lonelyness, and found happiness in himself. The sculpture found his answer so did Minstro. He streched himself and soon felt the heaviness around his eyelids. He fell deep asleep in the cozy place.

The next morning Minstro wished goodmorning to the statue but it did not reply back. He checked the statue by knocking over it’s shoulder but it didn’t respond at all. Believing the previous night’s incident as part of a lucid dream, Minstro prepared himself to accomplish his remaining journey. As he gave one last glance towards the forgotten statue, he was surprised to find a crack right on it’s heart. Minstro smiled and bid his final goodbye.

  • THE SHADOW

    THE SHADOW

Man is a mystical toy, who hardly realises the truths and the mirages on this big planet. The reason of any human’s failure is that he hardly knows what he is ignorant of. He seldom has any ideas what he lags in and what actually his strength is.

This story is a mere representation of the above mentioned fact on how a father teaches his young,  and innocent teenager that the greatest thing one needs to overcome to achieve something is what lies within and with him only.

‘Tringggggggggg’……’Tringgggggggg’……..sounded the alarm clock kept beside the half torn rug that was kept on the floor on which a boy was sleeping with his hands around his father.’Tringggggggggg’……the sound continued.

“Wake up son….its half past six ,we are getting late.”

“Yes dad just two more minzzzzzzz ,,,zzzzz…..”

“James , hurry up son else the clouds will show up.The weather is really bad and we need to start the harvesting work today if you remember. Get up man. Quick.”

The son and his middle aged dad lived in a small hut 1.5 miles away from their farm, which was the only source of income for the duo. The only beautiful lady in their house passed away three years ago due to cardiac attack. But the poor father always tried to his utmost level that James never missed his mom, no matter whatever the situation is.

“Sorry son, you have to contemplate yourself with these boiled eggs even today”

“Did you take the breakfast dad”, came the reply from a bit frustrating James.

“My stomach is not in a good state today”

Both of them started from their little hut, heading towards the mini farm set up by them.

Suddenly a curious question was tossed by the old guy to his son” Can you step ahead of your shadow? ”

    “No one can,I guess”,James replied.

“Why don’t you give it a try until we reach the farm? Okay let’s see who does it first, you or me.”

“Are you really crazy tod…”  “Come on, give a try at least” ,dad interrupted.

They both started to do the potentially impossible task .The moment they reached the farm James hesitatingly said” Nice task dad, wish never to do it again.”

The old man smiled and said “You certainly should never try it again.”

“James can you please reap that half of the farm and ensure you do nt mess out with even a single crop”

“Oh sure I can do it before the daylight parts away”

Interestingly James was actually able to finish out the task and much to his own surprise he went to his father and said “I said you dad, I can definitely do it.”To this his dad appreciated his determination and power to carry out such a huge task. They embarked their way back to their small world and meanwhile the old guy asked his son” Would you give it a try now???”

    “What”, asked the tired son.

“Believe me or not but only one guy has been able to step ahead of his shadow till date”

“Okay then I will do it now and show it you before we reach home”, a very much enthusiastic and determined voice said.

The son tried his best, literally his level best to defeat the jynx that no one can step ahead of their shadow. The moment they reached the home a very drained ,disgusted and angry James shouted out of frustration “I JUST WANT THE GUY’S NAME WHO COULD  IT

NOBODY”, came a calm reply from his dad.

“Then why did you lie to me that…” “Because I wanted to make you realise the importance of assessing your own strengths and weaknesses.” dad said in a very soothing tone.

“Son if you remember properly I had said you not to chase the shadow again, but still you did that just because of the fact that some other guy could do it, not even trying to know who he is.

SHADOW teaches you your limitations in life. It is important to know your strengths but it is always more important to know your drawbacks. Not everyone in this world are same, everyone is special in some ways or the other. Your SHADOW always warns you what not to do, that is the reason your SHADOW always stays with you. You need to have a vision from heart to feel your SHADOW in the night too.

Remember the golden words ‘SHADOW LIGHTS UP YOUR LIFE RATHER THAN BLACKENING IT’ ……”

Tears rolled down the sparkling eyes which were now very much desperate to explore the SHADOW which remains with us every then and now.
