Rishi.

The boy you’d hoped never to see again, especially not in a remote cottage like this one.

“Hi Sana,” he spoke, but you didn’t hear. You were too focused on the way his clothes hugged his body, making him look even bulkier than before.

“What is it, cat got your tongue?” he chuckled, as you didn’t give him a response. “Are you here to see me?” Rishi continued, finally grabbing your attention.

“Funny,” you told him sarcastically, after which you continued your sentence, “But no. I was lent this cottage for a week so I’d appreciate it if you could leave. Thanks.” Rishi tried to speak but you didn’t want to hear. You needed to get away from him right now, no matter what.

While you were leaving, you told him “I’ll be going out, when I come back I expect you to be gone.” “But..” you didn’t let him finish his sentence. “Don’t talk to me and just leave, Rishi”

When you opened the door, you were stopped by a freezing cold. “That’s what I wanted to tell you,”He said with an apologizing tone. Outside the door you saw an enormous amount of snow, the wind howling and blowing snow inside.

Your mouth took on an ‘o’- shape and you quickly closed the door, preventing more heat from escaping through the door. “A snowstorm. Great!” you exclaimed while turning around. A snowstorm was one thing, and being stuck in a cottage was another, but being stuck here in this cottage with your ex was one thing too much.

Not wanting to be in the same room as Rishi anymore, you walked past him to your room. The only problem was that when you did, Rishi grabbed a hold of your elbow, making you stop in your tracks.

“Why do you hate me so much Sana?” he asked you, his eyes pleading for you to give an answer. “Don’t act like you don’t know Rishi,” you said, ripping your arm out of his grip.

You resumed your way to your room and slammed the door. How dare he pretend to not know what you were talking about? You’d been together for two years, then he went and pretended you didn’t exist!

Not knowing what to do, you started unpacking, because whether you liked it or not, you’d be stuck here, at least until the storm had passed.

When you’d unpacked everything and made your bed, listening to some music in the meantime, you heard something clatter on the floor; looking around to make sure it wasn’t something in your room, you came to the conclusion that Rishi must have dropped something.

As you were deciding whether or not you should go to see if Rishi was alright, you heard another thing fall, followed by a loud yell.

Slowly opening the door, you peeked your head around the corner and saw Rishi standing there helplessly staring at the mess on the floor; the sight made you giggle, causing him to look up at you.

“Help me,” he desperately spoke. You’d never heard him talk this vulnerably before and within seconds you were next to him, cleaning up his mess together with him.

When you two got up, he thanked you and grabbed the broken pieces of glass from your hands, his fingers brushing against yours, leaving a tingling feeling, you’d forgotten the way his touch felt and were reminded of how the two of you used to be before.

“Hey, Sana, you’re bleeding.” Rishi said, his voice laced with worry, grabbing a hold of your hand after throwing away the glass pieces. Taking action quickly, he put you on the kitchen counter, turning on the tap and placing your hand under the running water.

After cleaning the wound, he put on a bandage, since it wasn’t as deep as you’d previously thought, and let go of your hand cautiously. You’d been watching him this entire time and you were amazed by how sweet he was being.

Because of this, you inhaled sharply and spoke the words you’d wanted to share for so long. “Why did you leave me?” Rishi stopped dead in his tracks and looked you in the eyes. “What? What do you mean?” he seemed genuinely confused as to what you were talking about.

“Do you seriously not remember? After the two years we were together you just stopped talking to me. Why?”

Rishi seemed shocked at what you’d said, and you didn’t understand why until he spoke. “I didn’t, Sana, you did that to me. You suddenly blocked me on everything and I couldn’t reach you anywhere, why did you do that?” this time you were the one confused.

“I-I didn’t do that either.” you and Rishi were looking at each other and when he was about to say something, he received a notification on his phone. Rishi read it out loud for you to hear.

“Hi Rish, how is it in the cottage? Cold I reckon. You there with Sana? Sorry not sorry for not telling you she’d be there Imao. I hope you’ve made up. It was a stupid prank me and Harsh pulled and it got out of hand. We’re really sorry, which is why we organized this. Let us know how it went! Love from your best friend Adarsh.”

After Rishi finished talking, you both were silent for a second, after which you started giggling, embarrassed of what had happened.

“So they made us feel like shit? We should get back at them then.” Rishi smiled at your plan and agreed with you.

“That can wait though,” he said, a mischievous smile plastered on his face, picking you up from the counter. “Let’s continue where we left off, because for this week I’m

stuck with you.”
