I never had a good feeling about moving into this apartment and didn’t even want to move but it was my wife’s wish to get this one as it was big and spacious enough for all her stuff and it was cheap too… It was a great apartment according to her…

“Why a huge apartment like this is this cheap??” I kept wondering, I have seen enough horror movies to know the answer to this “why”

My wife thinks I am paranoid but I have experienced some unusual activities ever since we moved into this house, she never believes me though…..

But today I had enough, my four-year-old boy came running to me with a piece of paper in his hand and said something which frightened me.

“Dad look, I won first prize in an “Essay writing competition”, I have written about ‘Rony my new best friend’, who lives with me in my room, he is very good, we play all day, my teacher liked my essay a lot, look she has given me a star and smiley also”, he said while beaming with joy.

I told all of this to my wife when she returned from her office… She was looking at me with such disbelief, she was about to say something when I interrupted her and said-

“Look I know you will say children of this age tend to make an imaginary friend and I agree with you but the thing is our child did not have any teacher as he neither got admission in any school nor we ever mentioned anything such as school, teachers to him, So how did he know about one and even has a favourite teacher????” My voice shrieked as I was very scared and my heart rate was rising like crazy…..

“But Ryan I..”

“No, ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ honey, now this is about our child safety and no stupid apartment is bigger than that” I replied in a very stern voice…..

My wife who was also looking very terrified and was visibly shaking almost screamed-

“But Ryan WE DON’T HAVE A CHILD”

This story is a thrilling and suspenseful portrayal of a family’s experience in a haunted apartment. The protagonist’s paranoia and fear are palpable throughout the narrative, adding to the tension and intrigue of the plot. The introduction of the child’s essay and imaginary friend adds an element of mystery and horror, leaving the reader questioning the reality of the situation.

The author has done an excellent job of building suspense through the protagonist’s doubts and fears, making the reader question what is real and what is imagined. The revelation that the family does not have a child is a shocking twist that adds to the horror of the story.

However, the story could benefit from further development of the characters and their motivations. The wife’s insistence on moving into the apartment despite her husband’s reservations is not fully explained, leaving the reader to wonder why she would take such a risk. Additionally, the protagonist’s past experiences with unusual activities in the apartment could be explored further to add depth to his paranoia.

Overall, this story is a well-crafted horror narrative that leaves a lasting impression on the reader. The author’s use of suspense and mystery keeps the reader engaged until the shocking conclusion. With further development of the characters and their motivations, this story could be even more impactful.
    Thank you!
