Once upon a time, there was a jungle spread far and wide. The grass was green and the flowers bloomed and danced with the breeze. The tall trees provided shade for all who sat under them. The swans swam around the mesmerising clear lake and the birds chirped their favourite songs all day. The monkeys would swing from branch to branch and the rabbits hopped around the bushes. The brave tigers protected the jungle and the horses galloped all day long.

In this vast jungle, there also lived a lonely giraffe. All day long, he would wander all around. He would see the rabbits and the monkeys and the tigers and the horses. He would see the swans and the birds and the lake and the flowers. But everyone was so different than him. The swans could swim and the birds could fly. The monkeys had a tail and the rabbits had large teeth. The horses were too short and the tigers had stripes. The animals would greet him but he ignored them, hoping to one day meet a friend who looks like him.

As he searched the whole jungle again and again, he was starting to lose hope. So, he decided to visit an old owl who lived atop the mighty oak tree. He was wise and helpful, but he only stayed awake at night time.

As the Sun set down and the moon shone bright, the giraffe reached the owl’s home. The owl was perched at the tallest branch. The giraffe said, “O wise one, I come to seek your help. I have been looking for a friend. I feel sad and lonely.”

The wise owl replied, “You seek for what you’ve already found. There are so many creatures in the jungle. Everyone greets you with the utmost respect and you overlook them because of your differences. Learn to be content with what you have. You ignore your friends in the jungle all day looking for someone who isn’t here. Value the friends you have here and you will never be lonely or sad again.”

The giraffe understood. The next day, he also greeted the animals of the jungle and talked to them nicely. He had found so many friends and he was never lonely again.
