There are four friends Varun, Uday, Srikant and Rajat. They are earnestly fond of travelling. So, once their university examination gets over, they decide to step away for a trip. But what problem arisen is their choice of place. Varun possess a fascination over hilly area while Uday has an attraction towards seaside. On the other hand, Srikant finds happiness in jungle safari and Rajat likes the places that carry rich historic significance. Each of them put their respective opinions where to visit, ended up with a big confusion.

After a thoughtful brainstorming, Srikant brought a plan. He said, ‘’we four like different places and a deep illusion is stuck in our mind regarding that. But my friends! remember, the actual essence of travel is hidden in getting out of shell and exploring the unknown. So, let’s reshuffle our thinking and go for individual solo trip.’’

It is decided that Srikant will visit the seaside of Alleppy. Uday will go to Kasauli hill station. Rajat will experience a wildlife visit in Kaziranga National Park and Varun will go to Ajanta-Ellora caves. After 10 days, they will meet each other and share their experiences.

Two days later, they pack their baggage and are all set to begin their journey. With utmost enthusiasm, four friends see off each other. Uday, after reaching Kasauli get amazed by its secluded, occult beauty. The rock-cut caves of Ajanta-Ellora make Varun profoundly think how advanced our country’s architecture was in the ancient times! In Kaziranga , Rajat realises that unlike self-centred human beings, the animals are human in real sense. And witnessing the alluring lagoon and backwater in Alleppy, Srikant understands why it is called ‘The Venice of the East.’

After return, when they share their experiences, a great realization happens to them that each of the places has its intrinsic charm and elegance which owns the capability to mesmerize the travelers  and present them some moments of lifetime rapture.

The story ‘Uniqueness in Variety’ deals with the story of four friends- Varun, Uday, Srikant and Rajat, who share a fondness for travelling despite their various preferences. The writing is simple and one-dimensional and the third person narrative design makes it a compelling read. The story highlights the bond of friendship as it matures as well as provides the moral agenda to respect the differences in opinions and choices. The language is easy-going, yet in need of polishing due to the numerous grammatical errors such as inconsistent tenses that dot the text. Nevertheless, it seems to provide variation and a great degree of warmth upon reading.
