Do you remember that day when you used to be too close to someone really special, spending a lot of time together eating, playing, and studying? But the destiny of both of them has different stories. A day will come when these two young minds follow their respective paths. The only thing that will stay common is the time spent together. Ruhi and Ria are two childhood friends who had a very good bond during their school days. Ruhi is an extremely talented girl but belongs to a strict, conservative family where girls are not given freedom to do what they want to. But Ria grew up in a rich, liberal family. Her parents use to work , so they believe to manage the time wisely. Its was obvious that they were not too much into following the traditions. Due to the differences between their families, they both grew up with different mindsets. Finally, the time came when the routes diverged. Ruhi did much better than Ria in academics.  But she wasn’t favoured to study at the college of her choice. Ruhi was bound to make the decisions according to her family’s wishes. So she finally settled in to study at a nearby college.  But Ria was lucky to get family support, which helped financially get her into one of the top colleges outside India.

After the graduation, Ruhi and Ria planned to meet each other at a mall in Kolkata. Ruhi was extremely delighted to meet her friend after a long time. But Ria’s excitement faded when she saw Ruhi.  Ruhi was in a traditional salwar suit. But Ria, as expected, was in western clothes. Ria was a bit hesitant to introduce her to her new friends. Ruhi, who brought her friend’s favourite homemade pancakes, just wanted to bring the childhood memories alive and spend quality time together. But she sensed the deterrence. Ria started boasting about her achievements in college and about her new job of a very good package. Then she asked Ruhi if she had achieved anything like hers. Ruhi was getting an average salary in her hometown. And was happy with what she had. She was the ideal daughter in her family and had just cracked the main exam for civil service. But Ria’s ego about her lifestyle actually created a mess in their friendship. Ria’s taunting behaviour made her very uncomfortable. Ruhi, with a fake smile, somehow managed to control her emotions and finally moved away.

Finally, a sweet, innocent friendship just comes to an end under the cover of ego and a superiority complex. Just ask yourself once. Would you prefer to be Ria or Ruhi?
