The salty air, the sand underneath my feet, the sound of the waves crashing. Everything in that moment felt so surreal and perfect. Not a thing out of place. The sky had started to crimson. The moon slowly on its way up. The stars becoming more and more visible in the dying sunlight. I looked down and saw our legs together and his arms wrapped around my waist. In that moment I felt safe, loved and most importantly happy. I turned around to see him, just to find that he was already staring at me. His eyes sparkled in the sunlight. The beautiful shade of blue. It was like the ocean was looking back at me. His eyes were so filled with love and happiness. I smiled and cherished the moment. I never wanted this day to end. Nothing could compare to his beauty. His hair ruffled in the breeze, his brown skin glowing in the sunlight. The way he smiled when I stared at him a little longer made my heart clench. He brought his hand up to my face and stroked my cheek with his thumb. Staring intentely into my eyes. There was nothing more perfect in that second. He leaned in and brushed his lips with mine. The softest whisper of a kiss. I closed my eyes and really let myself feel it. I never thought I would find love or happiness, neither did I know if I truly deserved it. But this was real and happening. He pulled away just as I opened my eyes. He was so perfect, and everything I have ever wanted. And he was all mine. How did I get so lucky I think to myself. He smiled as if he knew what i’m thinking and said “this is not a dream. I love you and I’ll never stop loving you”. I smiled and said “i love you more. Promise me, you and I are forever”. In response he moved to my right ear and whispered “I promise”. We faced the ocean once again and I leaned back against him. My head resting on the curve of his neck and shoulder. He held me even tighter and we watched the last seconds of the sunset together. And he did not let me go until we were both surrounded by total darkness.
