Here I’m in 2030 brimming with unprecedented thrills, so tangible that you would not be able to imagine. While I write this with an excited heart from a decade, my life has been a complete metamorphosis. Not only my looks but also the taste and lifestyle that I relished the then 2020 have been an absolute volte face experience. It is certainly advantageous for me that I have got umpteen stories to share with you. Good that you did not have a time machine otherwise I would be left with nothing to unleash at this point of time.

Now when I walk out of my door in the morning, it’s a greener and cleaner city. Whereas a decade ago when all one could see was particulate matter of dust in air, which caused a wide range of diseases of skin and lungs. These all have taken a backseat. Single use plastics have become a distant memory. Now whenever I shop, my sole purpose is to fulfill my necessity. Material things have lost their zeal. “Refuse, reuse, reduce, recycle” is the new way of looking at things. When I was sixteen, a pandemic had hit the world which turned the whole world upside down. The pandemic had spread across the whole world like a wild fire. To retard the spread the leaders were compelled to impose lockdown. This is when human activities outside their pads were curbed and nature started to heal.

Now technology is at its pinnacle. Those are distant memories when I had to reach the airport hours before the stipulated flying time, for security check and other formalities. Now, intercountry travel is like traveling from one street to another through our flying cars. It is so much facile and fun to pilot yourself and fly to another city. When I was a child, we used to have parking lots either in basement or underground of our multi storied, but now everyone has their own parking at elevated levels. Earlier helipads were constricted to certain places but now helipads are like our everyday parking spot. The pandemic had taught a lesson named “SOCIAL DISTANCING”. So even after a decade of its farewell it is still prevalent. Social interactions have virtually enhanced. Those big fat Indian weddings in which thousands of people would flock, all have become good old memories.

Now those underground and overhead metros, run on streets with a blend of technology. All the public transports are digitalized. The system will tell you how much time it will take to reach your destination. If they fail to transport you to your destination in the stipulated period, you are not obliged to pay for the ride. To avoid ground congestion and air traffic, these tracks of metro and trams can automatically make the underlying tracks to rise above the ground level and then pave a way for themselves. It makes us enjoy a roller coaster ride that travels up on the tracks but thereafter it runs smoothly.

Now the term office has been replaced by work from home. Almost all the companies have people working from home. It has proved to be a boon in the conservative countries where women were not allowed to step outside their home and work in the field. Family values which had went for a toss decades ago has been restored. People in countries like India have understood the dooms of overpopulation and hence there is a decrease in population worldwide. Now the world has young faces as leaders which has new ideas and technology to make the world a better place to live in.

Education which is the root of the society have witnessed major transition, from the old reading material to e-books in the form of pen drives. The virtual teaching has proved to be more interactive way of teaching and nurturing the young mind. When my niece visited me, she was so fascinated to see my books.

Here’s to that ray of hope that love, happiness, knowledge and humanity would thrive and make the world a better place to live in.
